When you are successfully logged in, all content will be displayed to the left of the page under the Content bar. Select the appropriate category from the content bar to access the required books. The
Hyperlinks Hyperlinks are an easy way of reaching new information without having to search. When a hyperlink is selected it will automatically transfer you to the page containing the required information. As shown, the hyperlinks are displayed in green with an underline. Below is an example of what happens when a hyperlink is selected; it has transferred directly to the required piece of information for Table The
Chapters There are two ways of manoeuvring between different chapters within Electrical Standards Plus. The first way is to use the buttons at the bottom of the page. Clicking once on the chapter buttons will allow you to manoeuvre between different chapters in your book. An alternative way of selecting a chapter is shown below. Using the Contents bar on the left hand side of the page, it is possible to select a specific chapter. This is a quick and effective way of searching through different chapters as opposed to using the navigational buttons. The
Show Changes Tool When an updated version of a book within Electrical Standards Plus has published, the new version contains a Show Changes tool. This is to help you identify new updates and changes made to documents. Below is an example of what it looks like when you use the Show Changes tool. When an update or change is made to a document, amendments will be crossed out and displayed in red font. The update will be displayed in blue font to differentiate the new and the old. In order to do this you will need to click the show changes button on the top left corner of the page. The
Diagrams There are various detailed diagrams throughout Electrical Standards Plus. It is important that you are able to view the small details in every diagram. Here is an example of what diagrams look like. As you can see they are initially shown as thumbnails to give users a preview of the diagram. Choose the diagram you wish to enlarge: in this instance Fig 3.3. Click on the thumbnail once and it will open into a larger view. Clicking on the button on the bottom right will expand the picture further as displayed on the next page. The
This will open the diagram in a new tab allowing you to zoom further using the magnifying glass. This view allows users to get maximum visibility on smaller details shown within the drawings. The
Search Bar The search bar feature is an easy way to search for a specific piece of text or diagram. The search bar is located at the top of the page and allows you to search all books dependent upon your subscription. This is the search bar. As you can see temperature is used here as an example. Below are the pages containing the word temperature Using these tabs allows you to search between individual books which you have subscribed to. When a search is made, all words found will be highlighted in yellow. This makes it easier for you to locate the specific information you are looking for. This tool allows you to filter your search. The various filters are Topics, Locations and Titles. They have further sub filters within them making it even easier to narrow down your search. The
It is also possible to perform a multiple word search. Typing OR between two separate words will scan the documents for either Bath or Shower as shown below. Number of results found containing either Bath or Shower All search results will appear highlighted in yellow It is also possible to do this using AND; it will search documents for words containing Bath AND Shower. The
Pre-set Searches Electrical Standards Plus comes equipped with a pre-set search functionality. These links are designed to direct you to the most commonly searched words or phrases which are broken down into different categories including Design, Protection, Installation, Locations, Inspection and Testing. Within these categories are further links with the most common searches. Here are the different categories containing the most common searches within Electrical Standards Plus. Selecting the pre-set searches once will immediately search all books within your subscription. The
Printing It is possible to print any chapter or page you require by following these simple steps. Locate the chapter or page you want to print and take notice of the small Print logo in the bottom right corner. Selecting this once will open a print preview as shown on the following page. The
All content printed will contain an IET logo as the watermark, in addition to the username of the account it has been printed from. This is for copyright reasons. If you are happy with the print preview, click the print button once more to open the printer settings shown on the following page. The
Pressing the print button for the final time will print the pages you have selected. These tools allow you to zoom in and out of the document to see every detail. It also allows you to view the page as full screen prior to printing. These settings allow you to select the printer, change the page orientation and select the number of copies you wish to print.
