6 Why using BIM on Karavanke? Karavanke tunnel is heralding a new wave of investments in Slovenia It is a complex project with very much all of the civil elements involved International importance Above all it was a set of circumstances Client, Engineer and Design companies had enough confidence to go through the process

24 BIM Problem/Status: - Modelling techniques mainly available from surface construction industry (buildings and roads) - Handling long sections, producing deliverables, etc in tunnel environment requires custom solutions - Easy parametrisation, controlling the model by means of realation database Solution: - Early design stage focus on validating alignments requires close BIM solutions with high degree of parametrisation - Raising LoD during outline and execution design requires segregation of the model and use of special authoring tools - Tunnel environment requires custom solutions for production of deliverables
