References to necessary information on setting up direct serial connections are also provided. This document describes when to use the MIG300 Download and how to: add a Direct Serial Site for the MIG300 in Site Book prepare a MIG300 for download download code from M-Tool to a MIG300
4 4 System Tools Applications Key Concepts MIG300 Download The MIG300 ships with the latest code downloaded. New versions of code are not required for new revisions of the Metasys system, however, a new version of code may be needed to: take advantage of the most current vendor application enhancements and new vendor applications. See the Metasys Integrator vendor specific application note for Metasys Integrator software/firmware (code) release requirements. download custom code IMPORTANT: Contact the developer of your custom built code before upgrading the code to avoid losing the custom capabilities. The Metasys Integrator Commissioning menu indicates if the code is standard or custom. See Using the Commissioning Menu in the Metasys Integrator 300 Series Commissioning Technical Bulletin (LIT ) for more information. To download.vct files and commission the database, see the Metasys Integrator 300 Series Commissioning Technical Bulletin (LIT ). M-Tool M-Tool is divided into two major groups of tools: System Tools - contains tools such as the Project Builder, M-Pro, Site Book, MIG Download, and Loader components. Configuration Tools contains software tools, such as HVAC PRO software, used to support N2 based field controllers.
5 Downloading Metasys Integrator 300 Series Code 5 Direct Serial Connection A direct serial connection provides a means to communicate directly from a Personal Computer (PC) to a MIG300 via the PC s serial port. Specific operating systems have different steps to set up the initial direct connection. Where this document mentions setting up direct connect in Site Book, it is assumed you have done the initial setup in Windows 98 or Windows NT software. For more information on setting up direct connect for a specific operating system, see the Direct Connect and Dial-Up on Windows 98 Application Note (LIT ) or the Direct Connect and Dial-Up on Windows NT Application Note (LIT ). Direct Serial Communications Checklist Setting up communications between a PC and a MIG300 is a multi-step process. Table 1 is a guide to verify all the steps required for successful communications are complete. Table 1: Direct Serial Communications Checklist Step Task Completed 1 For information on dial-up and direct connect, see Direct Connect and Dial-Up in Windows 98 Application Note (LIT ) or Direct Connect and Dial-Up in Windows NT Application Note (LIT ). Use a baud rate for the MIG Go to the Site Book and define a MIG300 site using the name of the direct serial connection s network connection icon. See Adding a Direct Serial Site for the MIG300 in Site Book in this document. 3 Prepare the MIG300 to accept the download. See the Preparing a MIG300 for Download section in this document. 4 Download code to the MIG300. See the Downloading code from M-Tool to a MIG300 section in this document.
