13 TROCAR SYSTEMS Trocar Systems SILIPORT MULTIPORT AUTOPORT Over the years the requirements on trocar systems increased and tremendously changed as well. Type and duration of the operation as well as the surgeon's individual preference have essential influence on the design of trocar systems. The selected telescopes as well as the related instruments determine the correct trocar system to be used. SILIPORT Trocar Systems are preferably used with telescopes and delicate instruments. All RZ Trocar systems are modular systems and can be combined with various accessories. The ergonomic designed housing enables a fatigue-free and precise use in surgery. SILIPORT TROCAR SYSTEM The SiliPort Trocar system is a reusable trocar system and easy to clean. It is one of the most important components of the RZ Trocar range. RECOMMENDATION We recommend our SiliPort Trocar System for the use with: - telescopes with smaller diameters (<10 mm) - endoscopic scissors - endoscopic electrodes The slim design and the ergonomic style in combination with the reusable and autoclavable silicon valves offer a light weight system. The newly designed and patented silicon valves prevent damage of the telescopes' distal tips as well as of instruments during insertion and extraction. It offers the following features: - very small friction resistance - fast insertion of the trocar 12

14 TROCAR SYSTEMS Trocar Systems MULTIPORT TROCAR SYSTEM The main feature of the RZ reusable MULTIPORT TROCAR SYSTEM is the opening of the trap-door valve: By pushing a side-button located on the housing, the valve opens easily. Advantage: - Very delicate electrodes and telescopes can be introduced more easily without damaging the tips or the sapphire glas - large tissue samples or biopsies can be taken out without jamming the valve mechanism Special characteristics: - trap-door lid's surface is smoothed and rounded to provide minimal contact between instruments and trocar during insertion - fast and easy disassembly and assembly by unscrewing the valve housing with just 1½ rotations for proper cleaning and maintenance - quick trocar sleeve exchange We recommend the MULTIPORT Trocar System for use with any grasping forceps as well as with 10 mm hand instruments. 13

A trap-door valve opens automatically when instruments, telescopes or trocars are inserted. After pulling out, it closes automatically to avoid a decrease of pressure. 23 SAFETY TROCARS Safety Trocars SAFETY TROCARS The benefits of using shielded RZ safety trocars, particular for the blind primary port, are well known and accepted among laparoscopic surgeons. RZ safety trocars have been designed to avoid injuries in the abdomen due to their automatic selflocking shielding device at the cutting tip. When activated, the protective shield is released as soon as the trocar tip passes through the abdominal wall, covers the cutting edges and is locked in place to avoid possible injuries of other structures. 80 INSERTS Endoscopic Disposable Inserts ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS Slide the tip into the insert until it snaps into place. Close the handle and unscrew the cap contraclockwise. Open the handle and lift the insert from the ball receiver. DISASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS Introduce the insert into the outer sheath. Keep holding the insert s tip and unscrew the outer sheath contraclockwise. Screw the insert in the outer sheath in clockwise direction. Take the insert out of the outer sheath. Open the handle so that the ball receiver becomes visible. Close the insert's tip and lead the insert s ball end to the handle s receiver. For care and main-tenance of the insert, spray the jaws with oil spray ( ) after use. Close the handle and screw the cap on the thread of the handle. 79
