2 AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY David Gerhardt, Instructor BRAKE SYSTEMS (AUT 110/111) This course involves the operational theory and application of hydraulic and anti-lock brake systems; disc and drum brakes are discussed. This course develops skills in the diagnosis and repair of braking systems. This course is offered as dual credit with KCTCS for grades SUSPENSION AND STEERING/LAB (AUT160/161) This course presents the automotive suspension system, the diagnosing of suspension problems, identifying components, recognizing tire wear problems, wheel balancing and the use of alignment equipment. This course develops skill in the diagnosis and repair of automotive suspension systems, wheel alignment, and wheel balancing. This course is offered as dual credit with KCTCS for grades BASIC AUTO ELECTRICITY (ADX120/121) Prerequisite: Brakes or Steering & Suspension and Instructor Approval This course introduces the student to the principles, theories, and concepts of the automotive electrical system that includes unique diagramming, coding, and locating of wiring and component devices. Students will demonstrate the ability to write work orders and warranty reports. ENGINE PERFORMANCE (AUT 140/141) (AUT 240/241) (ADX 260/261) (AUT 142/143) Credit: 4 Prerequisite: Instructor Approval A course designed for the student who has demonstrated the ability for an upper level course. Course is 2 blocks/2 semesters and includes Basic Fuel & Ignition, Computer Control Systems, Electrical Systems and Emission Systems. CO-OP I (AUT199) (1 Block, 1 Semester) Prerequisite: Completion of 3 credits of Automotive Tech and Instructor approval Co-op provides supervised on-the-job work experience related to the student's educational objectives. Students who participate in the Cooperative Education program receive compensation for their work. CO-OP II (AUT299) Credit: 2 (2 Blocks, 1 semester OR 1 block all year) Prerequisite: Completion of 3 credits of Automotive Tech and Instructor Approval Co-op provides supervised on-the-job work experience related to the students educational objectives. 3 CONSTRUCTION CARPENTRY TECHNOLOGY Danny Taylor, Instructor INTRO TO CONSTRUCTION CARPENTRY/LAB (CAR126/127) This course emphasizes the types, grades, sizes and standards of building materials including the types of fasteners and their correct uses. Students will also learn to correctly utilize and maintain commonly used hand and power tools. Safety in the lab and on the job site is stressed. FLOOR & WALL FRAMING (CAR190/191) Grades The student will practice floor framing, layout, and construction of floor frames. Cutting and installing floor and wall framing members according to plans and specifications will also be practiced. CEILING & ROOF FRAMING (CAR196/197) This course covers roof types and combinations of roof types used in the construction industry. The emphasis of this course is on layout, cutting and installing ceiling joists, rafters, roof decking, and roof coverings. SITE LAYOUT/FOUNDATIONS/LAB (CAR140) Credit: 2 (2 Blocks, 1 Semester) Students will prepare materials, calculate the cost for a building site, and lay out a site with a transit, locating property lines and corners. Students calculate the amount of concrete needed for footing and foundation walls and construct different types of foundations and forms. CO-OP I CARPENTRY (CAR199) (1 Block, 1 Semester) Prerequisite: 2 Carpentry Credits & Instructor Approval Co-Op provides supervised on the job work experience related to the student s educational objective. CO-OP II CARPENTRY (CAR299) Credit: 2 (2 Blocks, 1 Semester OR 1 Block all year) Prerequisite: 2 Carpentry Credits & Instructor Approval Co-Op provides supervised on the job work experience related to the student s educational objective. PRACTICUM I (CAR198) (1 Block, 1 Semester) Prerequisite: 2 Carpentry Credits & Instructor Approval This course includes various Construction Carpentry Technology topics, issues, and trends. PRACTICUM II (CAR298) Credit: 2 (2 Blocks, 1 Semester OR 1 Block all year) Prerequisite: 2 Carpentry Credits & Instructor Approval This course includes various Construction Carpentry Technology topics, issues, and trends. HOUSE CONSTRUCTION: FLOOR & WALL FRAMING (CAR190/191) CEILING & ROOF (CAR196/197) Credits: 2 (2 Blocks, 1 Semester) Prerequisite: 1 Carpentry Credit & Instructor Approval Students will complete tasks from the above 2 courses by building a house off-site. CABINET CONSTRUCTION & INSTALLATION (CAR240) Students will lay-out and plan the construction of base and wall cabinets. They will construct, sand, and prepare wood surfaces for finishing, installing cabinets, and special units.

Maintenance of PLC (IMT230/231) INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE ELECTRICAL PRINCIPLES/LAB (IMT110/111) This course is the prerequisite for ALL Industrial Maintenance classes. This course introduces the theory of electricity and magnetism and the relationship of voltage, current, resistance, and power in electrical circuits. The course is designed to develop an understanding of alternating and direct current fundamentals. Students will apply formulas to analyze the operation of AC and DC circuits. The basic AC and DC lab course allows the student to verify basic theory by creating measurements and working AC and DC circuits. Various types of circuits are constructed and their parameters measured. The use of test equipment, safety and troubleshooting are stressed. MAINTAINING INDUSTRIAL EQUIPTMENT/LAB (IMT150/151) Prerequisite: Electrical Principles This course is designed to introduce the student to maintenance techniques and procedures used to maintain industrial equipment. This course is designed to provide the student with lab experience in the maintenance of industrial equipment. INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE ELECTRICAL MOTOR CONTROLS I (IMT220/221) Prerequisite: Electrical Principles This course addresses the diversity of electric motor control devices and applications used in industry today with safety and electrical lockouts included. This course addresses the diversity of control devices and applications Robotics & Automation used in industry today. Safety and electrical lockouts are also included. FLUID POWER/LAB (FPX100/101) Prerequisite: Electrical Principles This course is a study of fluid power theory, component identification and application, schematic reading, and basic calculations related to pneumatic and hydraulic systems and their operations. This course provides practical experiences in the study of fluid power theory, hydraulics and pneumatics component identification, schematic reading, and basic calculations related to hydraulic and pneumatic systems and their operations. This course of offered as dual credit with KCTCS for grades ADVANCED HYDRAULIC SYSTEM (MST200/201) Prerequisite: Electrical Principles, Fluid Power and 1 other IM course The advanced hydraulic systems class will cover design, repair, and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems. INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE MOTOR CONTROL CONCEPTS (IMT 240/241) Prerequisite: (IMT 110 and IMT 111) or (IMT 130 and IMT 131) with a grade of C or greater and Instructor Approval. This course addresses the diversity of control devices and applications used in industry today with safety and electrical lockouts included. The basic theory of programmable logic controllers is also included.

Web Page Development (CIT 155) INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTING (CIT 105) This course familiarizes students with various types of computer hardware and software including the use of an operating system. It explores common applications in word processing, electronic spreadsheet, database, and presentation software. Students learn online skills and concepts including networking, electronic mail, Web browsing and Internet research. Course objectives map closely to IC3 exam objectives and satisfy the KCTCS computer literacy standards required for post-secondary programs. DIGITAL GRAPHICS TECHNOLOGY (CIT 030) Credit 1 Prerequisite: CIT 105 or Consent of Instructor The course introduces students to the theory and fundamental concepts of various digital environments with emphasis on print and web media. Elements of design principles and image composition will be included using Adobe Illustrator, Fireworks, Photoshop and InDesign. Course objectives map closely to the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) that validate basic entry-level skills with Adobe digital media software. FLASH (CIT 134) Prerequisite: CIT 105 or Consent of Instructor This course introduces students to Adobe Flash animation. Students will gain experience in creating graphic animation, text forms, and special effects. Course objectives map closely to the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) that validates basic entry-level skills with Adobe digital media software. COMPUTER HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE (CIT 111) Prerequisite: CIT 105 or Consent of Instructor This course introduces basic computer hardware and operating systems, covering installing, building, upgrading, repairing, configuring, troubleshooting, optimizing, diagnosing, and preventive maintenance, with additional elements of soft skills and security. Course objectives map closely to the MTA and the CompTia Strata and A+ exams that validate the basic skills needed by any entry-level computer service technician.

7 C++ PROGRAMMING I (CIS 142) (Online Independent Study Course) Prerequisite: CIT 105, Introduction to Computing, CIT 120, Computational Thinking and the dedication to work independently. Consent of Instructor This course introduces students to fundamental programming concepts using the C++ programming language. It includes data types, control structures, simple data structures, error-handling, modular programming, and information and file processing. WEB SITE DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT (CIT 157) Prerequisite: CIT 105 or Consent of Instructor Creating web documents using a simple text editor will be the main focus. HTML code and features such as, layout, tables, image, forms, frames and the incorporation of sound and video will be explored. Web site development using Adobe software (Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Photoshop, and Flash) will be introduced. Course objectives map closely to the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) that validates basic entry-level skills with Adobe digital media software. NETWORKING FOR HOME AND SMALL BUSINESS (CIT 162) Prerequisite: CIT 105 or Consent of Instructor This course is part of the Cisco Academy and is designed to provide foundational networking knowledge, practical experience, opportunities for career exploration, and soft skills development to help prepare students for entry-level careers in networking. Topics covered include the OSI Model and industry standards, network topologies, IP addressing, networking components, and basic network design. Cisco 1 course objectives map closely to the MTA and the Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) certifications. PRODUCTIVITY SOFTWARE (CIT 130) Credit 1 Prerequisite: CIT 105 or Consent of Instructor The course includes advanced computer applications using current word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation application software to solve common business problems. It includes basic features of each software application, as well as requirements, capabilities and limitations. Course objectives map closely to MOS exam objectives that validate basic entry-level skills with Microsoft Office software. COMPUTATIONAL THINKING (CIS 120) (Online Independent Study Course) Prerequisites: Algebra I and the dedication to work independently with Consent of Instructor. The course focuses on the design and development of computer programs for solving common businessoriented problems. The emphasis is on programming concepts and techniques common to all languages. A programming language will be used to illustrate and practice these concepts. PRACTICUM I INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (CIT 198) Prerequisite: Computer Hardware and Software (CIT 111), and/or Networking For Home and Small Business (CIT 162) and Consent of Instructor The practicum provides supervised on the job work experience related to the student s educational objectives. 8 MACHINE TOOL TECHNOLOGY Chris Sublett & Paul Spalding, Instructors FUNDAMENTALS OF MACHINE TOOL A (MTT110) This course provides the basic principles needed for a solid foundation in machine tool technology. Areas and machines covered include shop safety, bench work, drill press, power saw, measurement, mills and lathes. This course is offered as dual credit with KCTCS for grades FUNDAMENTALS OF MACHINE TOOL B (MTT112) Prerequisite: MTT 110 Fundamentals of Machine Tool A This course provides the basic principles needed for a solid foundation in machine tool technology. Areas and machines covered include shop safety, bench work, drill press, power saw, measurement, mills and lathes. This course is offered as dual credit with KCTCS for grades APPLIED MACHINING I (MTT120) Prerequisite: MTT112 Fundamentals of Machine Tool B Applications in milling, lathe, bench work, and utilizing gauge blocks and the sine bar are covered in this course. Surface grinding and abrasives are introduced and properties of metals are discussed. APPLIED MACHINING II (MTT122) Prerequisite: Applied Machining I Applications in milling, lathe, bench work, and utilizing gauge blocks and the sine bar are covered in this course. Surface grinding and abrasives are introduced and properties of metals are discussed. INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER AIDED DRAFTING (DFT122) This course will focus on basic drafting principles for irregular and basic shapes to full print layouts including 3-D, isometric and design of individual projects. CAD/CAM/CNC (MTT132) This course introduces the student to CAD/CAM/CNC systems. The student will utilize process planning, manual programming and CAD/CAM for CNC equipment. This student will load a CNC program and set tool and work offsets, and machine part. CAD/CAM/CNC II (IEX293 SP) Prerequisite: CAD/CAM/CNC This course is focused more on CAM and CNC. In the first class, more emphasis is placed on how to draw. In this course, the basis drawing has already been covered so more focus can be on the machining of parts. The students will utilize process planning, manual and computer assisted programming and CAD/CAM for different CNC equipment. The students will load multiple CNC programs and set tools and offsets on multiple CNC Machines. CO-OP I (MTT199) (1 Block, 1 Semester) Prerequisite: 5 Credits of Machine Tool Technology Co-op provides supervised on-the-job work experience related to the student's educational objectives. Students participating in the Co-op Education program receive compensation for their work. Practicum I Pharmacy (HEA198-7) PRINCIPLES OF HEALTH SCIENCES (HEA102, WPP200) This course is an orientation to the health care cluster consisting of four career majors: Nursing, Medicine, Dentistry, and Allied Health. It is also designed to develop and enhance an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of each career major area. Communication, study and leadership skills will be emphasized as the student learns about the health care industry, health care economics, and career opportunities available. Medial Terminology will be integrated throughout the course. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to focus on a career major path and make informed decisions regarding choices for continuing education and/or employment. This course addresses the Kentucky Learner Goals and academic Expectations, Core Content for Assessment, and includes core components from the National Health Care Standards. 11 BASIC ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY (AHS109) Prerequisite: Medical Terminology/Emergency Procedures Basic Anatomy and Physiology is designed to provide knowledge of the structure and function of the human body with an emphasis on normalcy. The course includes interaction of all body systems in maintaining homeostasis and promotes an understanding of the basic human needs necessary for health maintenance while explaining basic principles of inorganic and organic chemistry as they apply to physiological processes. Supplies: Notebook, binder, index cards, pens/pencils CPR FOR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS/ SAFETY AND FIRST AID (CPR100, SFA100) EMERGENCY PROCEDURES) Credit: ½ (Paired with Med. Term. for 1 credit) Emergency Procedures will focus on current emergency techniques and infection control. Upon successful completion of this course, each student will qualify to become certified in First Aid adult, child and infant CPR by American Heart Association. AED & Professional Rescuer CPR certified by ARC. Proc. for 1 credit) An overview designed of the basic techniques of medical word building is provided. Once these techniques have been developed, they can readily be applied to acquire an extensive medical vocabulary. Emphasis is on basic anatomical, physiological, pathology, diagnostic procedures, and pharmacological terms. Specific knowledge and skills for students and /or nurse aides to assume the role and responsibility required in long-term care is communicated to the student through lectures, lab, and clinical practicum. Provides knowledge and skills for nurse aides to assume the role and response required in a variety of health care settings. 12 HEALTH SCIENCES CO-OP I (HEA199) (1 Semester, 1 Block) Prerequisite: Medical Terminology/Emergency Procedures, Anatomy& Physiology, Nursing Assistant Skills/MNA, and Teacher Approval. Student must have a valid driver s license and vehicle to travel to site. **Student is required to have a C or higher cumulative GPA, acceptable attendance record per MCHS attendance policy and no level II or above offenses. This course allows students to work in the area of previous training for wages. The student must be hired in an approved health-related facility within one month of enrolling in this class. The student will perform independent study, work in the clinical area, and report to the instructor as requested. The Health Sciences Instructor and the work supervisor will complete evaluation of the student in the health facility. 13 WELDING TECHNOLOGY Steve McDaniel, Instructor BASIC WELDING A and B (WLD151/152) Prerequisite: Course required for all welding courses. An introductory course that exposes students to a variety of welding procedures. GAS METAL ARC WELDING (WEL140/141) Prerequisite: Basic Welding A This course is designed to teach students the identification, inspection, and maintenance of GMAW machines; identification, selection and storage of GMAW electrodes; principles of GMAW; and the effects of variables on the GMAW process. This lab course teaches the practical application and manipulative skills of Gas Metal Arc Welding and the proper safety precautions needed in this process. Both ferrous and non-ferrous metals will be covered, as well as various joint designs on plate in all positions. This course is offered as dual credit with KCTCS for grades CUTTING PROCESSES (WEL110/111) Prerequisite: Basic Welding A or Gas Metal/Arc Welding- (WEL 140/141) This course is designed to provide the student with a working knowledge of various cutting processes used by the welding industry. This course will include, but is not limited to safety, theory of operation, setup and operating techniques, troubleshooting and making minor equipment repairs, terms and definitions, identification, evaluation, repair and prevention of discontinuities of cut surfaces when cutting with OFC, PAC, SMAC, and Mechanical Cutting Processes. This course is offered as dual credit with KCTCS for grades BLUEPRINT READING FOR WELDING (WEL170/171) Prerequisite: Basic Welding ( A), Gas Metal/Arc Welding -(WEL 140/141), Cutting Processes-(WEL ) This course provides a study of occupationally specific prints for welders. Advanced study of multi-view drawings, assembly drawings, datum dimensions, numerical control drawings, sheet metal prints, casings and forgings, instrumentation and control charts and diagrams, working drawings, geometric dimensioning and use of reference materials and books are included. Occupational specifics include welding drawings, symbols, and specification interpretations are stressed. This course provides students with practice fabricating from a blueprint. Students will read and fabricate from detail prints, control distortion during fabrication, and follow the proper sequence in welding a fabricated part. Students will use welding symbols and study weld sizes and strengths. WELDING PRACTICUM I (WEL198) (1 Block, 1 Semester) Prerequisite: Instructor Approval Work individually with instructor to create and fabricate projects. WELDING PRACTICUM II (WEL298) Credit: 2 (2 Blocks, 1 Semester OR 1 Block all year) Prerequisite: Instructor Approval Work individually with instructor to create and fabricate projects. CO-OP I (WEL199) (1 Block, 1 Semester) Prerequisite: 2 Credits of Welding and Instructor Approval Provides on the job training to meet student s educational objectives.
