10 Security is Critical to all Parties All of us must: Validate connecting parties. Protect communications and ensure connections are between the right hosts. Ensure only right data exposed for consumption. Prevent connection hopping between 3 rd parties. Ensure appropriate service resilience. Validate quality of exchanged data. Protect our own environments.

12 Data Security Servers are hardened and application uses OpenSSL certificates for authentication and encryption of data. Each customer connection is uniquely defined and can only be used by a matched remote counterpart. Quality flags and timestamps can be used to automatically identify anomalous data values in some cases data should be ignored!

16 How was one.govt selected? Commercial process evaluated two proposals Resulted in the selection of one.govt owned by the Department of Internal Affairs on behalf of the New Zealand Government Supported/managed by Dimension Data (formerly DataCraft New Zealand)

A Proven WAN with over 25 customers including Department of Internal Affairs, Police, Reserve Bank, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Government Communications Security Bureau, and Inland Revenue High Speed WAN Fully provisioned bandwidth end to end, QoS designed to match LAN Managed Service Modern + Scalable Equipment supplied and refreshed during contract term Software bug fix, patches, and updates included MPLS private VPRN Layer 3 Single or diverse access

22 Project Initiation {A previous pilot project set up the trial ICCP connection with Orion} This project commenced early in 2011 Project Mandate is to design the service and roll out to first 3 customers nominated by Grid Development First steps Requirements and learning from the pilot project Concept design very high level design Commercial and technical evaluation of vendor solution options Select preferred vendor solution Develop stage plans and detailed costings Project Brief signed off by Transpower management Finance signed off by CEO 29 July 2011

29 ICCP Future Phases Dependant on outcomes. If proven, our intention is to progressively make available to all connected parties (who want it). We have $4M of approved capital funding for ICCP in our current Revenue Cycle. However, implementation of the first three ICCP users will provide us a good understanding of delivery.
