2 NZQF NQ Ref 0376 Version 5 Page 2 of 6 National Certificate in Casino Gaming (Level 3) Level 3 Credits 42 Purpose The National Certificate in Casino Gaming (Level 3) [Ref: 0376] is for people who work, or intend to work, in a casino. It recognises the skills and knowledge required to deal casino table games, be employed as a gaming machine attendant, or in the cashiering area of a casino. This includes communication and customer service skills; knowledge of the rules, procedures, and organisational structure of a casino; and any legislation relating to casinos and the operation of various casino games. Holders of this qualification may progress to the National Certificate in Casino Gaming (Level 4) with strands in Table Gaming, and Gaming Machines [Ref: 0377]. Special Notes To qualify to work in casino gaming, a person must hold a Certificate of Approval issued by the Department of Internal Affairs. To undertake a number of standards contained in this qualification people must have passed the Ishihara Colour Test, or equivalent, and must meet the minimum age requirement for entry into a casino. 3 NZQF NQ Ref 0376 Version 5 Page 3 of 6 Requirements for Award of Qualification Award of NQF Qualifications Credit gained for a standard may be used only once to meet the requirements of this qualification. Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the purpose of award. The table of mutually exclusive standards is provided in section 7 of the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) Rules and Procedures publications available at Reviewed standards that continue to recognise the same overall outcome are registered as new versions and retain their identification number (ID). Any version of a standard with the same ID may be used to meet qualification requirements that list the ID and/or that specify the past or current classification of the standard. Changes to structure and content Overall credit total was reduced from 49 to 42 credits. Credit requirement for the elective section was reduced from 30 to 19 credits. Expiring standards 9880, 9890, 9907 and were removed from the qualification. Expiring standards and18223 were replaced by standards and respectively. Standard was added to the elective section of the qualification.

People currently enrolled in programmes leading to the award of version 3 of this qualification may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to version 4. Candidates intending to complete version 3 of this qualification must gain credit for expiring standards and by 31 December The last date for assessments to take place for the remaining standards in version 3 is 31 December All versions of this qualification will be recognised by. This qualification contains standards that replace or are used as substitutes for earlier standards. For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring or substituted standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards see table below. Credit for Exempt from It is the intention of that no existing candidate should be disadvantaged by the changes to this qualification. Any person who considers they have been disadvantaged may appeal to the SSB (see contact details below). Previous versions of the qualification Version 3 was issued following a revision to incorporate new standards. Changes to structure and content included: standards 4645 and 9906 were removed from the qualification; standards and were added to the qualification; however the credit total remained unchanged. Version 2 was issued following a review. Changes to structure and content included: standards were added to the compulsory and elective sections; expiring standards were replaced; as a result of these changes the credit total decreased from 51 to 49. Certification This certificate will display the logos of NZQA, and the accredited organisation.

Accreditation requirements and the moderation system are outlined in the associated Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP) for each standard.
