3 Scope of This Manual SCOPE OF THIS MANUAL This document describes the supported features of EtherNet/IP and how these features are related to the Smart Electronic Valve Actuators (SEVA). This document also describes the type of data that is accessible over EtherNet/IP and any special considerations. This document is intended for readers who have a general understanding of EtherNet/IP and CIP protocol. For further information regarding EtherNet/IP please refer to This document is intended to complement other documentation for SEVA 100 and SEVA 200. Supported Features The Ethernet card on the SEVA 100 and SEVA 200 support EtherNet/IP explicit and implicit messaging for commonly used parameters in the device. SoloCUE Flow Device Manager Software Go to our website, to download the software. Wiring The optional Ethernet card can be ordered with the SEVA 100 and SEVA 200 and includes a dual RJ45 port. DO NOT OPEN WHILE AN EXPLOSIVE ATMOSPHERE IS PRESENT. DISCONNECT POWER BEFORE OPENING. AVERTISSEMENT NE PAS OUVRIR DANS UNE ATMOSPHÈRE EXPLOSIVE. 4 Communication Settings COMMUNICATION SETTINGS Setting IP Address and Subnet Mask To set up the meter for EtherNet/IP. 1. Download the setup software for the SEVA actuator, the SoloCUE Flow Device Manager, from badgermeter.com. 2. Go to Main Menu > System Setup > Communication menu. NNOTE: When a USB programming cable is connected, the RS485 and frequency outputs are disabled. 3. Press + to add device or select Device > Add Device from the menu bar. 7. Check that the baud rate, parity, stop bits and word order (endian) match the master device. 8. Click the checkbox under Add to Device List, the click OK to complete the device-adding process. 4. Select EtherNet/IP. 5. Set the address (1 127). 6. Select a Scan Mode to search for the device, Auto or Manual. For the Manual mode, select the Com Port the device is connected to, then select the Baud Rate. Click Scan to find the device. 9. Select which parameters the master device can write to: All coil outputs and read/write holding registers Coil outputs only (resets) None (read only) 10. Select the Communication tab. 11. Test sequences are performed on the Network and Module Status LEDs during startup. The dual ported EtherNet/IP module supports both linear and ring network topology (DLR, Device Level Ring). Each port within the module will have the same IP address and there is an embedded switch that will route the data. Network Status LED NNOTE: A test sequence is performed on this LED during startup. LED State Description Off No power or no IP address Green Online, one or more connections established (CIP Class 1 or 3) Green, flashing Online, no connections established Red Duplicate IP address, FATAL error Red, flashing One or more connections timed out (CIP Class 1 or 3) Module Status LED NNOTE: LED State Off Green Green, flashing Red Red, flashing A test sequence is performed on this LED during startup. Loose cable connector. Ethernet card is loose. Ethernet card is configured for a different IP address. Able to find device, but no response from device or communication shows as faulted No data or incorrect data Rotary switch is not set communication card setting. PLC or DCS requesting the incorrect data. Data type mismatch. Check that SEVA is powered and functioning. Check cable, connectors and communication card. Check rotary switch.
