1 NetVanta 7100 Exercise Small Office Key System PSTN Line 1 FXO 0/1-2 Line 2 NetVanta 7100 FXS 0/1 x200 x204 x203 This exercise begins with the Out of the Box configuration of the NetVanta First, you will make all the necessary changes to configure the NetVanta 7100 for 3 digit extensions. This includes setting up a 3-digit dial plan, modifying system extensions, and then creating new 3-digit extension voice users. Next, you will configure Shared Line Accounts where a line key on the phone is mapped to an analog trunk. Finally, you will enable hands-free auto answer for a group of your phones. 2 NETVANTA IP TELEPHONY COURSE AUTO ATTENDANT This lab includes OPTIONAL trunk calls into YOUR configured student NetVanta 7000 lab equipment. When you see the symbol, this represents a call made from YOUR OWN PHONE (cell phone, business phone, etc ) into the NetVanta IP Telephony Course Auto Attendant. Based on the lab exercise, you will be asked to select one of four call choices from within the NetVanta IP Telephony Course Student Auto Attendant: - 1 for inbound call to your first analog trunk - 2 for inbound call to your second analog trunk - 3 for inbound call to user 2003 on your configured T1/PRI - 4 for inbound call on your configured SIP trunk NOTICE This is a phone call to Huntsville, Alabama. 3 ACCESSING LAB NETVANTA COMMAND LINE INTERFACE (CLI) Log in to and then navigate to your student web page ( This link is on your CD and in your course information From the student web page, navigate down to the Virtual Labs section Friday 9am - 3pm(CT) Lab 3 CLI: Small Office Key System GUI: Small Office Key System Select CLI as shown above for Command Line Interface 1. Press <Enter> on the keyboard and the access prompt should appear. 2. Enter your AOS password to log into the unit. 3. 5 DEFAULT YOUR LAB NETVANTA 7100 Before you begin this lab, prepare your student NetVanta Access the CLI of your NetVanta 7100 Enter into Enable Mode by typing enable and then using your AOS password Enter the following commands to return this unit to LAB DEFAULTS NV7100# erase cflash Polycom/*0004* NV7100# erase cflash ADTRAN/*00a0* NV7100# copy flash ipt-config startup-config NV7100# erase dynvoice-config NV7100# reload Enter <n> for no when asked if wanting to save system configuration Enter <y> for yes when asked if wanting to reboot system ACCESS YOUR LAB NETVANTA 7100 GUI Management Interface - Access and login to the GUI interface of your Netvanta 7100 If needed, see ACCESSING LAB UNIT (GUI) for instructions CLI Connection - Re-establish the CLI connection and log back in to the Enable Mode - If needed, see ACCESSING LAB UNIT (CLI) for instructions NetVanta IP Telephony Course L3-5
6 OBTAIN MAC ADDRESS OF IP PHONES Navigate to the Data / Switch / MAC Forwarding screen. From this screen, you can see the MAC addresses of connected devices and the physical ports that they are connected to. ADTRAN Phone Eth 0/1 Polycom Phone Eth 0/2 Note the MAC addresses associated with Ethernet ports 0/1 and 0/2. * Write MAC addresses below for use during voice user creation: ADTRAN IP 712 eth 0/1 00:A0:C8: : : Polycom SoundPoint IP 601 eth 0/2 00:04:F2: : : * If you do not see eth 0/1 and eth 0/2 in the MAC Forwarding table, complete the following: 1. Navigate to the Data / Switch / Power over Ethernet screen. 2. Cycle the power of Eth 0/1 and Eth 0/2 from AUTO to OFF. 3. Cycle the power of Eth 0/1 and Eth 0/2 from OFF to AUTO. 4. Return to the Data / Switch / MAC Forwarding screen as shown above and obtain MAC addresses after phones have booted. L3-6 NetVanta IP Telephony Course
7 CONFIGURE 3-DIGIT DIAL PLAN 1. Navigate to the Voice / System Setup / Dial Plan screen. 2. Delete the existing dial plan template for a 4-digit extension. Add Template 3-digit extension 3. 8 CHANGE SYSTEM EXTENSIONS System Extensions 4. From the Voice / System Setup / System Parameters screen, change the default System Extensions to the 3-digit extensions defined below: 3-Digit System Extensions Voic Login Ext: 850 Leave Voic Ext: 854 Overhead Paging Ext: 800 L3-8 NetVanta IP Telephony Course
9 MODIFY THE PHONE CONFIG DEFAULT SETTINGS FILE In the following steps you will define default settings that will be applied to all new phone configuration files created by the NetVanta Navigate to the Voice / Stations / IP Phone Configs screen. 6. Select the Default Settings tab and make the following changes: 1) Set address of SIP Server that phones will use by default 2) Select the dial string [1-8]xxx and then change to [1-8]xx 3) Select Apply Settings to New Configurations Only and then click Apply Note: The default settings are saved in NetVanta 7100 FLASH as a file called polycomconfigdefault.cfg. 10 MODIFY THE GLOBAL ADTRAN_CUSTOMER.TXT FILE The global configuration file adtran_customer.txt is modified by the dealer/customer to a apply phone customization to all ADTRAN 700 series phones. 7. Navigate to the Voice / Stations / IP Phone Configs screen. 8. Select the Global Files tab and then the ADTRAN adtran_customer.txt tab. Click Save 9. Add the configuration option BackLight 10 to cause the back light of all ADTRAN 700 series phones to remain on for 10 minutes after idle. Q: The new SIP User 2003 created for an ADTRAN IP phone registers as SIP User What would you check? Q: What command would you type to view files being requested by the IP phone? 11 CREATE NEW VOICE USERS 10. From the Voice / Stations / User Accounts screen, delete all Voice Users. 11. Create the one analog and the two SIP user accounts shown below: - The names of the voice users are up to you - For the SIP users, you will enter the MAC address of SIP Phone - From user s Call Coverage tab, set the call coverage to go to VM after 2 rings - From user s VM Settings tab, confirm Voic CoS is normal_voic Remember that you can create a new user by copying the first user this way you don t have to set call coverage and voic every time Extension Phone Type Model MAC Address 200 Analog FXS 0/1 n/a n/a 203 SIP ADTRAN IP 712 Enter phone MAC 204 SIP Polycom (601) Enter phone MAC NetVanta IP Telephony Course L3-11
12 CYCLE POWER OF PoE PORTS As you saw in the last lab, ADTRAN and Polycom SIP based phones load configuration files at boot. If parameters are changed in those files after the phone has booted, the phone will need to be rebooted. 12. Navigate to the Data / Switch / Power over Ethernet screen. 13. Cycle the power of Eth 0/1 and Eth 0/2 from Auto to Off and then Off to Auto. Click Apply after making change Q: How many PoE phones can be connected to one NetVanta 7100? CHECK REGISTRATION STATUS OF SIP USERS After phones have had enough time to boot (allow about 2 ½ minutes), one location where the status of SIP phones can be displayed is on the following screen: 14. 13 CONFIGURE AUTO ANSWER PERMIT TEMPLATE In the following steps you will enable Hands Free Auto-Answer for the normal_users Class of Service. 15. From the Voice / System Setup / Classes of Service menu, edit the normal_users Class of Service. Expand AA Permit Templates Select Configure AA Permit Templates Add AA Template AA Template 16. Select Configure Auto Answer Permit Templates and add the Auto-Answer permit template 2XX. NetVanta IP Telephony Course L3-13
14 User s within the normal_users Class of Service can now place hands free calls to the 2XX extensions using ** and then the extension. **204 Speaker Hello Bob x203 x204 Hello Bob For example, if the user 203, dialed **204, then user 204 s phone would receive a courtesy blip before going off hook and having talk path through the speaker phone. 17. Within the normal_users Class of Service, note the Advanced Permitted Action Auto-Answer Do Not Disturb setting. If checked, allows a user to force incoming Auto- Answer calls to ring the phone instead. With the setting enabled above, users could enter the SPRE code *971 to block Auto- Answer calls. The SPRE code *970 would be entered to receive Auto-Answer calls again Q: What happens if a user places a hands free call to someone who has entered the SPRE code *971? 15 CHANGE AUTO ATTENDANT EXTENSION The Auto Attendants menu will be covered in detail in another exercise. The default Auto Attendant DefaultAA contains the greeting If you know your party s extension. In this exercise you will only change the extension of the default Auto Attendant. 18. From the Voice / Applications / Auto Attendants menu, select the default Auto Attendant DefaultAA. Default AA Extension Menu Prompt 19. Change the DefaultAA Extension to Confirm the Menu Prompt is set to defaultaaprompt.wav. 21. Click Apply to complete the Auto Attendant configuration. NetVanta IP Telephony Course L3-15
16 CREATE A RING GROUP 22. From the Voice / Stations / Ring Groups screen, create an All Ring ring group with the settings shown below: Add Members 200, 203, and Ring Group Settings Ring Group Ext: 801 Description: All Ring Ring Group Type: All Ring Members: 200, 203, & From Ring Group 801 s Member List tab, log extension 204 out of the new 801 Ring Group. Only 200 and 203 will remain logged in the Ring Group. Do Not click Apply yet! Continue on next page L3-16 NetVanta IP Telephony Course
17 24. Select the VM Settings tab of ring group 801 and change the Voic Class of Service to normal_voic . VM Class of Service 25. Select the Call Coverage tab of ring group 801 and set the following: Default System Mode - After 2 rings, go to Operator, ring 2 times, and then go to Voic Night System Mode - After 1 ring, go to Voice mail 26. Click Apply at the bottom of the screen to complete the editing of the new ring group. Q: If no Voice Mail extension is entered in Call Coverage above, which mailbox is used? 18 CONFIGURE OPERATOR GROUP 27. Add extension 204 as the only member of the Operator group. Note: After adding extension 204, the previously deleted voice users may show up as members of the operator group. Delete all members of the Operator Group except extension Set the Default Call Coverage for the Operator Group to go to Auto Attendant after 2 rings, and then go to Voic Set the Night Call Coverage for the Operator Group to go directly to Voic after 1 ring. Click Apply when complete. 30. Select the VM Settings tab of Operator group and change the Voic Class of Service to normal_voic . L3-18 NetVanta IP Telephony Course
19 CREATE AND CONFIGURE SHARED LINE ACCOUNTS In the following steps, you will change the Trunk Number on the default analog trunks. The analog trunks will be mapped to a shared line account. 31. From the Voice / Trunks / Trunk Accounts screen, edit analog trunk T01 and make the following changes: 1) Change name of trunk to Analog1 2) Change the trunk number for the Default System mode to None 3) Change the trunk number for the Night System mode to 820, the default Auto Attendant 4) Click Apply Q: What is the effect of setting the trunk # above to None? Edit analog trunk T02 and make the following changes: 1) Change name of trunk to Analog2 2) Change the trunk number for the Default System mode to 801 3) Click Apply Note: Each Trunk Account could have the same trunk number. In this lab you defined a different trunk number just for lab purposes. L3-20 NetVanta IP Telephony Course
21 Next, you will create two shared line accounts that will be associated with the two analog trunks that were just configured. 33. From the Voice / Trunks / Shared Line Accounts screen, create a new SLA named Line1 and associate it with analog trunk T01. 1) Type SLA name and associate it to trunk T01 2) Click Add New SLA 34. Allow all calls types to be dialed using this SLA. 3) Select all call types Do NOT click APPLY yet! NetVanta IP Telephony Course L3-21
22 35. Set the Default Call Coverage for this SLA to go to Operator after 2 rings, and then go to the Operator s Voic after 2 rings. Enter 0 for the mailbox extension. 36. Set the Night Call Coverage for this SLA to go directly to the Operator s Voic after 1 ring. Enter 0 for the mailbox extension. Click Apply when complete. 37. Repeat the above steps to create a second Shared Line Account named Line2 that is associated with analog trunk T02. - Allow all call types - Set the Default Call Coverage for this SLA to go to Operator after 2 rings, and then go to the Operator s Voic after 2 rings. Enter 0 for the mailbox extension. - Set the Night Call Coverage for this SLA to go directly to the Operator s Voic after 1 ring. Enter 0 for the mailbox extension. L3-22 NetVanta IP Telephony Course
23 In the final step of Shared Line Account configuration, you will configure a couple of line keys on the phone as shared line accounts and then map other line keys as a speed dials. 38. From the Voice / Stations / IP Phone Configs screen, select the MAC address associated with user account 203 the ADTRAN IP 712 phone. 39. Click Add a Secondary Line and then enter information shown below: NetVanta IP Telephony Course L3-23
24 Secondary Line information Type: Shared Line Account SLA: Line1 (T01) Display Name: Line1 Line Label: Line1 Authentication User Name: Line1 Authentication Password: 1234 Do NOT click APPLY yet! 40. Add another Secondary Line for Line2 and then enter the following: Type: Shared Line Account SLA: Line2 (T02) Display Name: Line2 Line Label: Line2 Do NOT click APPLY yet! Authentication User Name: Line2 Authentication Password: 1234 While in IP Phone Configs, map a couple of line keys on the phone as speed dials. 41. Select the Button Map tab and add two Speed Dials. Label: Page Contact: *30 Label: Support Contact: 9 <Your Number> Click Apply and then OK when asked to sync and reboot phone The phone will be sent a sync message and then rebooted to load the latest configuration. REPEAT the previous steps to add the two shared line accounts and two speed dials to the Polycom Verify that both SIP phones register with the NetVanta The Voice / Reports / SIP Registration List screen is another location where the SIP phones that have been registered with the system will display. This screen displays SIP registrations with the system. This includes SIP users, SIP trunks, and Shared Line Accounts. ADTRAN IP 712 after reboot Q: What command is used to view a summary of the SIP registration process? Q: After an inbound call is answered with a LINE of a Shared Line Account, who can monitor (eavesdrop) the call? NetVanta IP Telephony Course L3-25
26 SHARED LINE ACCOUNT CALL HANDLING Inbound calls on analog trunk 1 are configured to go the SLA LINE1. All phones that have the line key LINE1 will ring. In the following steps, you will enable debug voice summary from the GUI and view the output while placing inbound call. 44. From the Utilities / System / Debug Unit screen, enable and start the debug voice summary command. View output while placing call below. Click Start Debug The symbol represents a call made from your own phone into the NetVanta IP Telephony Course Auto Attendant. 45. Call your IPT lab site and place call in first analog trunk. 1. Dial Enter Pass Code for Student Auto Attendant (your 4 digit passcode) 3. Press 1 to place call into your first Analog Trunk Call is initiated inbound on the first Analog trunk to the SLA LINE 1 4. 27 NOTE: When a call comes in SLA LINE1, anyone who has this line key on their phone can answer. If the call is put on hold, anyone with the SLA LINE1 key can retrieve call. Debug Voice Summary Sample Output The output shown below is from the steps just completed. 1. Inbound call on Analog Trunk 1 (T01) to SLA Line1 2. Call coverage to Operator Group User Call Coverage to Voic (850) Debug will automatically stop when you leave this screen. Q: TO1 is the trunk ID that was used for the inbound call above. 28 Your second analog Trunk Account has been configured with a trunk number to ring group 801. In the following steps you will place call in your second analog trunk. 46. From the Utilities / System / Debug Unit screen, enable and start the debug voice summary command. View output while placing call below. 47. Call your IPT lab site and place call in your second analog trunk. 1. Dial Enter Pass Code for Student Auto Attendant (your 4 digit passcode) 3. Press 2 to place call into your second Analog Trunk Call is initiated inbound on the second Analog trunk to the ring group View debug output. Do not leave message. Hang up when call enters Voic . NOTE: When a call comes in T02, SLA LINE 2 will show busy when call is routed to the ring group. If user answers call and puts it on hold, only that user can retrieve the call on hold. Must TRANSFER or PARK if you wish to send call to someone else. Debug Voice Summary Sample Output The output shown below is from the steps just completed. 1. 29 SYSTEM MODE CALL HANDLING In the following steps you will change the System Mode to Night and then place call to see the effect of this change. 48. From the Voice / System Setup / System Modes screen, change the current system mode to Night. This is a toggle; there is no confirmation. 49. From the Utilities / System / Debug Unit screen, enable and start the debug voice summary command. View output while placing call below. 50. Call your IPT lab site and place call in first analog trunk. 1. Dial Enter Pass Code for Student Auto Attendant (your 4 digit passcode) 3. Press 1 to place call into your first Analog Trunk Call is initiated inbound on the first Analog trunk 4. View debug output. Hang up after you see where call is routed. Q: Where was the call routed? Why? (hint Trunk Account) 51. From the Voice / System Setup / System Modes screen, change the current system mode back to Default. NetVanta IP Telephony Course L3-29
30 Q: What configuration must be done before a voice user such as an admin can change the current system mode with a SPRE code or a BLF on phone? 52. Save your configuration. 53. From the enable mode of the CLI, type the following to create a backup copy of the running configuration to a file called lab3 stored in FLASH. IPT# copy running-config lab3 Optional: Save a copy of the lab configuration to your PC. From the Utilities / System / Configuration menu of the NetVanta 7100, select Download.
