1 Revised Netwrk+ Examinatin Objectives Versin 6-01 Intrductin The skills and knwledge measured by this examinatin are derived frm an industry-wide jb task analysis (JTA) and validated thrugh an industry wide survey f which ver 2,500 respnses were received in April 200l. The results f this survey were used in weighing the dmains and ensuring that the weighting is representative f the relative imprtance f the cntent. The Netwrk+ certificatin cvering the 2002 bjectives, certifies that the successful candidates knws the layers f the OSI mdel, can describe the features and functins f netwrk cmpnents and has the skills needed t install, cnfigure, and trublesht basic netwrking hardware peripherals and prtcls. A typical candidate shuld have A+ certificatin r equivalent knwledge, but A+ certificatin is nt required. In additin t A+ certificatin level knwledge, candidates are encuraged t have at least 9 mnths f experience in netwrk supprt r administratin. The 2002 bjectives update the Netwrk+ certificatin exam n new technlgies such as wireless netwrking and gigabit Ethernet. The scpe f netwrking systems are bradened smewhat placing an increased emphasis n Linux/Unix, Windws 9x, Windws NT, Windws 2000 and including AppleTalk as a netwrk prtcl. There is als mre f an emphasis n hands-n experience knwledge needed in the areas f netwrk implementatin and netwrk supprt including trubleshting scenaris. This examinatin includes blueprint weighting, test bjectives and example cntent. Example cncepts are included t clarify the test bjectives and shuld nt be cnstrued as a cmprehensive listing f the cntent f the examinatin. The table belw lists the dmains measured by this examinatin and the extent t which they are represented in the examinatin.
