3 Lighting controllers application manual Touch Dim Corridor function Wireless Regiolux luminaires and device mounts which are equipped with DALI ballasts or DALI drivers have some special functions which can make the cost and service intensive DALI controllers unnecessary depending on the application. Generally, all DALI ballasts or DALI drivers can be addressed and grouped depending on the system. These devices can be put into the suitable function via configurable or programmable controllers, in accordance with the system requirements. Special functions such as the Touch Dim or Corridor Function have been integrated in most DALI ballasts or DALI drivers for several years. Both work in parallel with the DALI address mode, but not at the same time. Either addressing mode or special functions. Touch Dim function description The Touch Dim function, also called "switch control", "Push Dim", "Touch Dim and similar by various device manufacturers allows the luminaire to be dimmed by connecting a standard commercially available button with NO contact to the DALI interface. The luminaire can be switched on and off by pressing a button; holding the button down adjusts its dim level. In some devices, the light value remains stored immediately when switching off for the next time the device is switched on; it can partially be stored separately by pressing the button twice. Note: Depending on the device manufacturer, the numbers of ballasts or drivers which can be controlled in parallel may vary. This information should be requested in borderline cases. Usually up to 4-6 devices can be operated using one button without problem. With more devices, occurring induction can impact the correct function. The max. permissible cable length from the button to the last luminaire in the control circuit should not usually exceed 20 m. This must also be checked in individual cases. In facilities with more than 6 devices it is recommended to use certain touchdim-controllers, which control the connected luminaires on DALI basis. 6 Corridor function description The Corridor function allows the luminaire to be dimmed by connecting a commercially-available motion sensor with NO contact to the DALI interface. When the contact is closed, the luminaire moves to its maximum; when the contact is open, the luminaire dims to a default value of 10% set at the factory. To enable this function, the closed contact must remain closed for at least five minutes. Otherwise, the device remains in Touch Dim mode. The preset dim values in the device, fade and shut-off delays can be changed with appropriate manufacturer-specific configuration tools. Regiolux is available when needed. Changes to the settings are possible. A programming tool provided by the ballast/driver manufacturer is required (on request) for this. Any number of SDBA S3 can be connected in parallel; ensure phase coincidence! Any number of SDG DALIs with Corridor function can be controlled, free phase selection. The application-specific max. detection range of the SDBA S3 must be observed, please refer to the data sheet. Sensors with other detection ranges on request. Page 8

9 Wireless function description Regiolux wireless luminaires are additionally equipped with EnOcean radio receivers as well as the DALI ballasts or DALI drivers. This allows you to take advantage of the benefits of the DALI special function Touch Dim (see the Touch Dim function description section) without new or additional cable installation. The EnOcean wireless technology uses piezo electricity to generate radio signals. As these signals only need little energy, they can usually be generated without a battery, purely using electrodynamic energy conversion. In Europe, the 868 MHz frequency is used to transmit the signals; outside Europe, the frequency is 315 MHz. The receiver must be taught-in to the transmitter using a teach-in routine, which is usually run during commissioning. It is possible to teach-in multiple transmitters to one receiver or also one transmitter to multiple receivers. Depending on the manufacturer, this can be up to 30 units. After the EnOcean protocol was standardised in ISO/IEC , all devices with this technology are compatible with each other. EnOcean transmitters are available as hand-held and wall transmitters, and many different types are also available as built-in and device components. Well-known switch manufacturers also provide appropriate EnOcean transmitters for their common switch ranges. Wireless application areas Offices Classrooms Training and meeting rooms Page 9

Voltages >50 V can occur in the DALI bus, mainly when using the special functions Touch Dim and Corridor Function (230 V). For this reason, install a low-voltage cable with a minimum cross section of 1.5 mm². We recommend the DALI Bus is installed in one cable together with the mains power supply. Page 13
