2 WELCOME ievo would like to thank you for purchasing our product. This manual is designed to make your installation of our superior biometric reader quick, easy and efficient. Please ensure you check all of the points listed below and read through the manual before commencing your installation. ievo would also recommend making use of the 5 End User guides that are supplied with the reader. These can help train users of the system to eradicate any finger placement issues. For more End User guides or posters please contact us (Contact details can be found at the back of this manual) Power: ievo advise the use of a Surge protected, 12v, DC (Direct Current), 2Amp PSU. If using two power supplies please ensure they are grounded together. ievo also recommend using a backup battery in case power is lost/power cut. Please ensure you power the ievo reader/s directly from the 12v power supply. Ensure you have calculated the correct power supply amp rating if you are connecting the ievo board and other controllers/locking mechanisms to the same supply, ievo Ultimate <600mA...iEvo Micro <400mA. The ievo unit must be used with an EN or an equivalent IEC standard compliant PSU. This is to establish adequate safety is tested of the PSU to ensure that there is sufficient isolation provided from the mains. ievo is designed to shut down as a protection precaution when power spikes or noise on line is detected. ievo will reboot straight away after shutdown. The use of a correct power supply will prevent this from taking place. If reader does not boot up down power + power back up. Warning: When installing the IEvo control box, follow ESD Safety Procedures. Ground yourself to prevent any damage to the electronic components. Installation: Ensure you have selected the correct reader for internal or external use. The external reader is supplied with a built in thermostat controlled heating system. An internal reader, placed externally will not perform to it s required capabilities. If you are fitting a flush mounted reader ensure you have the correct cut out template and have the correct mounting and fixing plates provided in the box. ievo also recommend that you install the ievo reader at the DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) height of between 1.00m and 1.20m. This will be the perfect height for finger placement. If you remove the Ferrites to shorten cable length of the reader please replace Ferrites back onto the cable. Ensure you use good quality screened core cables at all times. Shielded beldon recommended. NOTE: if you are using an ievo relay upon installation we recommend using a 6 core shielded beldon cable for wiegand. An ievo relay allows the ievo LED s to be controlled by the door controller. Ensure that the control box is installed on the protected side of the door/turnstile.please do not exceed 5 metres in cable length from the reader to the control box. You are provided with 2.95 metres. Ensure good quality connectors are used if cable is extended. The control box is not IP rated, it can be installed inside the power supply unit. There is a green heartbeat LED to show power to the box. The ievo reader button is illuminated blue to show power to the reader. Network: Only use Shielded CAT5 cable for network communication. Each ievo reader needs its own network cable, as each reader has its own IP address. Ensure this has been taken into consideration before commencing with installation. ievo also recommend using a Net Gear router. Please see network pages for further information Backup: See software manual Manual: Please ensure you read all of the information notices in this manual before commencing installation. These are indicated with a yellow triangle. Ensure you read the software set up section to help configure each installed reader. ievo has been designed to integrate into other manufacturers controllers and control boards. Our software has also been integrated to ensure a smooth and seamless operation for the end user. We can support you with software and hardware but we are unable to support you with other manufacturers hardware and software. Please ensure you contact the correct manufacturer if you require assistance. Note: ievo is an independent company and manufacturer of ievo products only. NOTE: ievo is NOT a door relay controller. If you are going to have a high volume of users we recommend purchasing an extra control box for registration. (This is due to the first ievo reader in your list being down whilst a user is being registered. This will stop the ievo reader working whilst registration is in progress) 1

3 Please read this manual, It will help guide you through installing the ievo reader and software INTRODUCTION: This Manual will cover the following areas in detail: Installation Standards/Support The minimum specs for your PC should be: CPU: Hard Drive: Memory: Dual Core 2.0+ GHz (or equivalent) 10 GB 2 GB Integrated Software: Net2 V4.21 / ACT Lite v2.8 32bit only / BSB progeny 1.0 Network: Microsoft.NET : OS: NIC (Static IP) Version 3.5 or greater. Windows XP SP3, Vista, Windows 7. (32bit / 64bit) To get the best performance from our software, please make sure your PC meets our minimum specification. Please be aware malware and viruses on the PC may also effect our software. 2

8 Ensure you are installing the reader indoors. Do not exceed 5 metres in cable length from the reader to the ievo control board. You are provided with 2.95 metres. Ensure good quality connectors if the cable is extended and ensure ferrites are placed back on to ends of cable. Do not remove any security labels on reader/board as this will void all warranties. A) MOUNTING THROUGH WALL Please choose which screw holes suit your installation. Ievo recommend using at least 4 screws for securing the bracket in place. B) 2.5cm Cable hole. Ievo recommend using a 10mm drill piece to allow sufficient space for the cable. 7

9 C) Place reader onto bracket and slide down until reader locks into place Reader Secure REMOVING READER NOTE: ONLY REQUIRED WHEN READER NEEDS TO BE REMOVED Once reader is installed, to remove reader from bracket simply use the supplied bracket key to unlock. Place bracket key against surface and slide up, the key will slide up behind the reader and unlock the catch. When key cannot be pushed any further slide the reader up and off the surface. 15 INSTALLING IEVO SOFTWARE Please ensure your operating system is up to date, this can be done by clicking start on the bottom left hand side of your computer screen, right click on computer and click properties. From here you should see an option called Windows Update Please insert the ievo disk into your computer and wait for the autoplay window to pop up. Click Run setup.exe Click accept and then Next Click Next Click Next Click Install (this may take several minutes) Tick or leave un-ticked and click Finish ievo will now be installed. If you did not tick the Launch ievo software option, open the software by going to your desktop. NOTE: To use ievo you must first install your Third party software...unless you are running ievo Standalone version. 14

This will be labelled as System Type: Windows 32bit = drivers x86 Windows64bit = drivers x64 Click Install Please wait whilst the drivers are installed Installation is now complete, now click Finish 16

18 INSTALLATION COMPLETE Congratulations you have now completed the installation of the ievo reader, please remember that you may need to install your third party software unless you are using the ievo standalone version of our software. Once complete please move onto our software manual for help on setting up and using your ievo reader. 17
