ievo READER INSTALLATION GUIDE Issue Introduction The ievo Ultimate fingerprint reader is fully compatible with the Norpass3 PC-based access control management software and the CRC22x door controllers. This guide describes how to mount the reader and connect it to the controller and the management network. It also describes how to install the ievo software and configure the readers. We recommend that you also refer to the End User guides that are supplied with the reader. These can be used to help train the users of the reader to eradicate any finger placement issues. Before attempting to install the reader, please ensure that you have checked the following points and have read through the manual Ensure you have selected the correct reader for internal or external use. The external reader is supplied with a built-in thermostat controlled heating system. An internal reader, placed externally will not perform to it s required capabilities. If you are fitting a flush mounted reader, ensure that you have the correct cut-out template and have the correct mounting and fixing plates provided in the box. We recommend that you use a separate surge protected 12 to 24 V ac or dc, 2 amp power supply for the ievo system. When using multiple power supplies, make sure that you connect ground together. The reader is designed to shut down and reboot as a precaution whenever it detects spikes or noise on line. The use of a correct power supply will prevent this from taking place. We recommend that you install the ievo reader at the DDA height of approximately 1 metre. This will be the perfect height for finger placement. Ensure you use good quality screened core cables at all times. Only use CAT5e cable for the network connection. Each ievo reader needs to be connected to the same IT network as the Norpass3 host computer. Each reader will need to be assigned its own IP address for the network (See network pages). Please ensure you read all of the warnings and information notices in this manual before commencing installation. The connection between the ievo Ultimate head and the ievo control board uses a bespoke PoE (Power over Ethernet) system carrying both power and data, requiring a high-quality shielded connection. Each Ultimate reader head is supplied with a 5m CAT5e S/FTP (braid-shielded cable, foil shielded pairs) Ethernet cable for connecting to the control board over a short distance. If you wish to extend the distance further than 5m, you will need to use cable with the following specifications: Up to 50m - Cat5e/Cat6a S/FTP Stranded-conductor, with shielded RJ45 connectors Up to 100m - Cat5e/Cat6a S/FTP Solid-conductor, with shielded RJ45 connectors Note: Cat7 specification cable is too thick to use for connection to the head. The reader control board is not IP rated and must be installed in a location where it is protected from moisture and excessive dust. It may be possible to install it inside the CRC22x housing, making cabling much simpler. There is a heartbeat LED to indicate when the power supply is connected. The ievo reader LED is illuminated blue to indicate that power is connected to the reader. 10. Ievo fingerprint readers supplied by Nortech are supported by Nortech alongside Nortech s own products. Any questions or concerns about any products directly supplied by Nortech should be directed to Nortech s technical support staff. For products supplied through Nortech distributors, all queries should be directed to the distributor in the first instance. 1-1

ievo READER INSTALLATION GUIDE Issue Advice on User Registration Strategy Registration of fingerprints may be carried out using a designated reader on the system where user registration can be carried out during periods of low traffic. If this method is to be used, avoid designating a high traffic reader and ensure that the reader is located near to the host PC. It is possible to purchase a desktop reader that connects to a USB port on the PC to make registration easier. When installing the ievo control board, follow ESD Safety Procedures. Ground yourself to prevent any damage to the electronic components. 1.2 CPU: Minimum Specification for Host PC Dual Core 2.0+ GHz (or equivalent) Hard Drive: Memory: Network: Microsoft.NET : OS: 10 GB 2 GB NIC (Static IP) Version 4.0 or greater. Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 (32bit / 64bit) To get the best performance from our software, please make sure your PC meets our minimum specification. Please be aware malware and viruses on the PC may also effect performance. 1-2

ievo READER INSTALLATION GUIDE Issue Mounting For Mounting Through Wall Ensure that you are installing the correct reader for internal or external use. Only Ultimate readers are suitable for external use. 2.2 Connecting RJ45 Cable Connect the RJ45 cable to the connector on the back of the reader. Position the cable into the duct as shown below. Then fit the back plate and screws. Do not remove the screws indicated by the green arrows. 2-1

ievo READER INSTALLATION GUIDE Issue Surface Mount Installation 1. Use wall mounting plate to mark out size of hole needed on the wall for the cables of the reader. The reader should be placed at the DDA standard height of approximately 1 metre 2. Attach the wall plate to the wall using counter-sunk screws and/or fixings. Ensure that the tops of the screws heads are flush with the wall plate. Ensure that you use the correct fixings for the type of wall you are fixing the reader to. Incorrect fixings may affect the security of the reader. Fixing to plaster board requires appropriate fixings. 3. Attach the reader to the wall plate by clipping on and sliding down until it is locked into position. 4. When the reader is fixed onto the wall plate, use the small security screws and bit provided to secure the wall plate and back plate together. Now bend upwards the security cover latch on the wall plate as indicated. 2-2

ievo READER INSTALLATION GUIDE Issue O-Ring Installation Stretch the O-ring provided over the four corners of the Ultimate reader head. Push the O-ring to the back of the reader so that it covers the edges of the wall plate. 2-3

ievo READER INSTALLATION GUIDE Issue Flush-Mounted Installation The reader should be placed at the DDA standard height of approximately 1 metre 1. Attach the reader back plate and the flush mounting plate to the back of the reader using the six (6) screws provided. Do not over tighten the screws. Ensure that the cable is fed through the holes as shown. 2. Insert the four (4) security screws provided into the wall as shown in the diagram. Ensure that you use the security tool provided. Ensure that you use the correct fixings for the type of wall you are fixing the reader to. Incorrect fixings may affect the security of the reader. 15 ievo READER INSTALLATION GUIDE Issue Installing ievo Software and Configuring Readers The ievo software is supplied on the Norpass3 Installation Disk. If you have not already installed it, insert the disk into the disk drive of the Norpass3 host PC. If autorun is enabled, the installation menu will be displayed. If this doesn t happen, locate N3InstallerSplash2011.exe (the name may be slightly different depending on the disk version) in the root directory of the disk, and double click it. From the installation menu, click on Install Ievo and then follow the installation instructions. Once installed, the start menu will have a folder named Ievo Nortech. Note: When the ievo software is installed, Norpass3 detects it and enables the adding of fingerprints on card records. You can see this when you click Edit users details on a card record in Edit Cards. 4.1 Configuring the ievo Reader(s) to Operate on the TCP/IP Network As shown in section 3, each ievo reader control board must be connected to the PC via a TCP/ IP network. The ievo control board does not support DHCP, therefore each control board must be manually assigned an available IP address from the IP address range used by the network, which must then be stored in the reader control board. You may need to request the network administrator to assign IP addresses for the ievo control boards. The IP address of each ievo control board is factory set to To change this address, you need to communicate with the control board from a PC with an IP address from the same range. To connect the PC to the control board, check if the PC s network port is a Gigabit port or 10/100mbit port. If your PC has a Gigabit port, you can connect it directly to the control board using a patch cable. If your PC has a standard network port, connect it via a local switch or crossover cable. Temporarily set the IP of the PC to a value within the range x (where x is 1-224; ) with a subnet of Note: Changing the IP address of the PC should be carried out by a person that understands computer networking. Once the task is completed, the PC should be returned to its original status (either the original IP address or automatically assigned). With the ievo control board connected directly to the PC, open the folder named ievo Nortech from the Start menu and launch the network tool program. The following box will appear: The The values shown in the image are the default values of the ievo board and therefore must be used for connecting to a new control board. To configure the control board and assign the correct IP address, click Connect. Once connected, you can click the Settings button, which will display the following Network Settings window: 4-1

ievo READER INSTALLATION GUIDE Issue 03 Set the new IP address, Subnet mask and Default gateway parameters (if you are not sure about the Subnet mask and Default gateway, delete the values and leave them blank). At this stage, you should not change any other parameters. Click Update to save the values to the control board. Once you have made the change, you will not be able to communicate with the control board until you have restored the IP settings of the PC. Repeat the above process for each control board, ensuring that you assign a different IP address to each board and record the assigned IP addresses (see example network below). Example Network PC Running ievo Software Front Door Port: 5005 Office Door Port: 5005 Side Door Port: 5005 You can now restore the IP settings of your PC to the original settings and connect your PC and control boards to the network. Ensure that your PC can communicate with each of the control boards using their new IP addresses. Note: If you have accidentally programmed an ievo control board incorrectly and you are unable to communicate with it, as a last resort, you can reset it to its factory settings and start again (see appendix A). 4-2

ievo READER INSTALLATION GUIDE Issue Adding ievo Readers to the System You must now add all installed ievo readers to the software. Open the folder named ievo Nortech in the start menu on the PC, open the folder named ievo and run the ievo program. The main window is displayed: Select Change settings from the Settings menu The Change Settings window is displayed: To add a reader, click Add reader and then add the details in the Add reader settings window. Click Save to complete the task. 4-3 To edit a reader, click its entry in the list to highlight it, click Edit and then edit the details in the Add reader settings window. Click Save to complete the change. To remove a reader, click its entry in the list and click Remove. Click Save to complete the change. The Setup Tool button allows you to connect to the selected reader control board to re-configure it. To test your connection, Click the Setup Tool button and then click the Connect button in the reader window. Ensure that you enter the correct information for each ievo reader on the network with an appropriate name, the IP address and port number and Facility Code. The default value for the Facility Code is 1. You must make sure that this value is the same as the value stored in the ievo control board so that the software can communicate with the control board. See next section for Facility Code setting.

ievo READER INSTALLATION GUIDE Issue Configuring Card Formats Where the ievo reader is required to convert each registered fingerprint into a number that matches the user s proximity card, the card format settings in both Norpass3 and the ievo control boards must be set to work in conjunction to support the format of the cards used on the system. The following cases are supported by the system: Nortech 26-bit Wiegand cards and readers, cards sequentially encoded with specific site code Nortech 26-bit Wiegand cards and readers, cards sequentially encoded (where more than one site code needs to be supported) Nortech 10-digit Clock & Data cards and readers, cards supplied as random numbers Nortech 26-bit Wiegand cards and readers, cards supplied as random numbers Mifare or similar smart cards where the 32-bit CSN is used as the card number The card format settings for each case are shown in the table below: Card Format Case 1 Case 2 Case 3 Case 4 Case 5 26-bit Wiegand sequential 26-bit Wiegand sequential 10-Digit Clock & Data 26-bit Wiegand random Mifare/smart card CSN Site Codes single multiple multiple not used not used Controller Setting (Card Reader) Controller Setting (ievo) ievo format Setting ievo FC setting Note 26-bit (H10301, sequential) 26-bit (H10301, sequential) 26bit(8bit FC + 16bitID) (16-bit card number, no FC, random) (16-bit card number, no FC, random) 26bit(8bit FC + 16bitID) 10-digit (Nortech mag, random) 10-digit (Nortech mag, random) 10-Digit Clock & Data 26-bit (24-bit card number, random) 34-bit (IEVO, prox card, no FC) 34bit(8bit FC + 24bitID). 32-bit (31-bit card number, CSN/UID) 44-bit (IEVO, smart card, no FC) 44bit(10bit FC + 32bitID) Set to site code Default Default Default Default Card reader and ievo can be supported on the same controller. Card readers and ievo readers must be connected to different controllers. To add a reader to Norpass3, select Controllers from the Installer menu, locate and enable the controller that is linked to the reader and set the correct card format (see table above) by selecting a format from the drop-down list on the General tab of the controller window. Refer to Norpass3 online help for more information. To edit the card format in the ievo control boards, you can access the Reader List in configuration screen by following the steps described in section 4.2 to display the Settings screen. To connect to the ievo control board, select it from the list and click Setup Tool. Now click Connect in the reader window. The reader format settings are shown on the following page. 4-4

ievo READER INSTALLATION GUIDE Issue 03 Make sure that you update both the Reader List entry and the Setup Tool when you change the Facility Code. (see section 4.2). Otherwise, the software will not be able to communicate with the control board. Select the required card format from the Output drop-down list With the settings configured in both the Access Control Unit and the ievo control board, you need to check that it works correctly as follows: Add a card to the system and make it valid at the fingerprint reader in Norpass3 Register a sample fingerprint against the card record Present the registered finger to the fingerprint reader used for access Check that access is granted and the event report shows the correct card number. 4-5

ievo READER INSTALLATION GUIDE Issue

ievo READER INSTALLATION GUIDE Issue Registering Fingerprints 5.1 Installing a USB Desktop Reader If you are going to use a desktop fingerprint reader for registering fingerprints, you first need to install the reader. Do not connect the device to your PC until you have installed the driver Installing the Driver Locate the folder C:\ievo\support\USB desktop drivers\. Open the folder that corresponds with the colour of the device that you wish to install (grey, blue or black). Double-click the driver installation program and follow the on-screen instructions to install the correct driver for your operating system. Note: For certain operating systems, it may be necessary to install the drivers for the black or grey USB readers manually via the device manager. In this case connect the device to the PC and go to the Device Manager, find the unknown device labelled Blackfin USB and right-click it. From the menu, click Update Driver Software and browse to the folder containing the driver appropriate to your operating system Connect and Test the USB Reader Once the driver is installed, plug the USB device into the PC. Windows will then install the device. Test communications with the reader by running the ievo software and selecting Settings/Test USB as shown on the right. If you get an error message you need to check that the USB reader is plugged into a valid USB port on the PC. Remember if you unplug and plug the USB reader, the ievo software will need to be restarted If the USB test is successful, configure the device as the registration reader by selecting Settings/Change settings, select Enrolment settings tab and and tick the USB box (see below). The system is now ready for enrolling fingerprints. 5-1

ievo READER INSTALLATION GUIDE Issue Enrolling Fingerprints Using a USB Desktop Reader In Norpass3, open the card record for the user that you are enrolling and click Edit Card Details (or add a new card record if the card doesn t exist on Norpass3). Click Add Fingerprint at the top left of the window. This opens the ievo window (see below) Explain to the user how to present their finger to the reader and then click the blue circular button in the ievo window. You will be given the option to set a delay period to allow the user time to get ready. Once you have set the delay, press Start to begin. The timer will now count down. Once the counter reaches zero, the sensor on the reader will light up blue. Instruct the user to present their finger to the sensor (as prompted in the ievo window). This process will be repeated to confirm the data. 5. Upon successful registration, this message will be displayed:. 6. Click OK. The ievo window will close and the fingerprint details and associated card number is stored in all ievo readers on the system. To complete the task, save changes and close the card Edit Cards window. When the user next presents their fingerprint to an ievo access control reader, they will be allowed access provided that they have the appropriate access level in Norpass3. An access granted event report will be recorded against the associated card number. Note: If the message Fingerprint already registered appears, Select Yes if you want this fingerprint to replace the existing one or press No to preserve the original fingerprint and cancel the current enrolment process. 5-2

ievo READER INSTALLATION GUIDE Issue Enrolling Fingerprints Using an ievo Access Control Reader It is possible to enrol users using one of the ievo access control readers where a USB desktop reader is not available. Choose a reader that has been fitted close to the Norpass3 hosting PC. This method of user registration can cause disruption to normal use of the reader for access control (this affects both reader heads if two are fitted to the control board). Therefore user registration activities should be restricted to times when the access point is not in use or when traffic is at a minimum level Configuring the Enrolment Reader Before using an access control reader for user registration you must configure the ievo software to use that reader for registration as follows: Run ievo software from the start menu and carry out the following: Select Settings Click on Change settings Select the Enrolment settings tab Tick the Network check-box Select the required enrolment reader from the drop-down list. Click Save Enrolling a Fingerprint Once the reader has been configured, you can register fingerprints by following steps in section 5.2 However, because the reader is not adjacent to the management PC, you need to instruct the user to go to the reader and wait for the sensor to light up blue and present their finger to the sensor until the light goes out and then present the same finger once again when the sensor lights up blue a second time. The registration will be complete once the Transferred User Successfully message is displayed at the PC. Note: Ensure that you set the delay time to a value that allows the user to comfortably make their way to the reader and be ready when the sensor lights up. 5-3

ievo READER INSTALLATION GUIDE Issue Deleting a Fingerprint If it is necessary to delete a fingerprint from the system without deleting the card record, in Norpass3, open the card record for the user whose fingerprint you wish to delete, and click Edit user s details, and then click on Delete Fingerprint. To complete the task, save changes and close the card Edit Cards window.this will remove the fingerprint record from all ievo readers on the system. 5.5 Deleting All Fingerprints If it is necessary to delete all of the fingerprints from the system, this can be done from Norpass3. From the Installer menu, select System Settings and click on Remove All Fingerprints under Advanced and Diagnostics. You will be asked to confirm that you wish to remove all fingerprints. 5-4

ievo READER INSTALLATION GUIDE Issue Basic Operation of ievo Reader with Norpass3 With the ievo reader fitted and powered up, the LED glows blue and the fingerprint sensor is deactivated. The process for gaining access into a restricted area is as follows: As you move your finger towards the sensor, it will automatically activate (lights up blue). Place the registered finger (usually index finger) on the illuminated sensor. Refer to the ievo End User Guide for help on placing the finger correctly. The response will be one of the following: LED changes colour to GREEN momentarily- Fingerprint recognised (if door lock is not released, the user access rights do not permit entry at this time - check with the administrator). LED changes colour to RED momentarily - Fingerprint not recognised. Try again or check with the administrator How the System Operates ievo Control Board TCP/IP Network PC Running Norpass3 and ievo Software KEY: 3 iethernet (reader) reader I/F 12V DC power Ethernet (network) The registered user presents their index finger to the ievo reader. The ievo controller extracts the fingerprint data and compares it with the records in its database. If the fingerprint data matches one of the records in the database, the ievo controller sends the corresponding card number to the CRC22x controller. The CRC22x controller checks the card number against its database to check that it is currently valid at this reader (according to the access level and the current time). If valid, the CRC22x operates the strike relay to unlock the door. The event record is sent to Norpass3. 6-1

ievo READER INSTALLATION GUIDE Issue

ievo READER INSTALLATION GUIDE Issue 03 APPENDIX A - Resetting an ievo Box to Factory Default Follow this procedure: This operation must only be carried out in the event of loss of communications with the ievo box or if its data is suspected to be corrupted. All fingerprint records will be deleted as well as all configured parameters such as card format settings While the box is powered, hold down the reset switch. After 10 seconds the CPU LED should flash rapidly, indicating a reset. Release the reset switch Recycle the power to restart the board. The reset switch is a side-entry push button located under this label on the PCB The ievo box will now be set to the factory settings, which are: FC = 1 IP address = Password = 0 Port = 5005 A-1
