12 English Versatile EEG 32 Preparation Follow the steps described below to select a cap, correctly insert the sensor sockets, and achieve the desired disposition of sensors. 1 Measure the perimeter of the user s head and select the adequate cap size. If none of the sizes fit, please contact Bitbrain to acquire the correct size. 2 To place a socket in the cap, identify the corresponding location hole and slightly enlarge it with your finger. Insert the socket from the inside of the cap towards the outside, introducing it through the hole until the fabric is correctly placed in the slit, as shown in the picture.
Reference guide English 13 Preparation 3 To remove a socket, place your thumb on top of it and push towards the inside with both hands until it slides out of the fabric.* To place a socket in a different position, follow the instructions for step 1. 4 Before placing the cap on the head, insert the sensors. Press firmly on the silicone to insert each sensor. When placing the sensors on the cap, ensure that the cables are organized towards the back for easy placement on the head. Cz C3 C4 P3 Pz Pz P4 O1 O2 *Please note that the cap material will suffer a slight deformation when the sockets are introduced, and therefore frequent changing of positions could stretch the cap.. ATTENTION: Please take note of the positions of the sensors (marked on the cap) and the number of each sensor. Data analysis requires this association.
14 English Versatile EEG 32 Preparation 5 Prepare the necessary sponges for the 33 sensors (32 channels + GND) plus the sponge for the clip, which is the reference of the system*. Submerge the sponge in water until it is completely wet. 6 Roll the sponge into a cylinder, as shown in the picture. *If you need more sponges, contact the Bitbrain team to acquire the necessary amount.
Reference guide English 15 Preparation 7 From the inside, introduce the humid sponges in the inner orifices of the corresponding sensors of the cap. Repeat steps 5 to 7 with the remaining sensors.
16 English Versatile EEG 32 Placement Follow the steps described below to continue with the placement of the cap. 8 Measure the distance between the nasion and the inion (see image). You will need this measurement to position sensor Cz correctly, which should be situated exactly halfway the nasion/inion distance. 9 Start placing the cap from the forehead and adjust the rest of the cap until it adapts completely to the head. Ensure that sensor Cz is correctly located by confirming its position with the measuring band. Cz 1 2 Cz Nasión Inion
Reference guide English 17 Placement 10 Ensure that the cap is centered on the head. The lateral sensors should be symmetrical to the central sensor line. 11 Attach the chinstrap. Ensure the cap is adjusted but not too tight.
18 English Versatile EEG 32 Placement 12 Organize the cables as shown in the picture (towards the back of the head). Ensure the cables are fixed to the head to guarantee good signal. Utilize the fastening band to keep cables in the correct position and prevent them from shifting during operation of the device.
Reference guide English 19 Power-up 13 Connect the sets of sensors to the amplifier, making sure the set marked in blue is connected to the EEG 2 input. To ensure good connection, introduce the connectors until a double click is heard. Click click!
20 English Versatile EEG 32 Power-up 14 For the placement of the amplifier: A. If you are using the model with short cable sensors, fasten the amplifier to the velcro area located at the back of the cap. B. If you are using the model with long cable sensors, place the amplifier on a fixed surface or fastening it to the velcro on the band. The band can be placed on the arm or waist. A B
Reference guide English 21 Power-up 15 Power the amplifier by pressing the power button ( ) until the light blinks. The wireless connection LED will flash until the connection is established with the software. The LED will then be steady on. When the battery device is low, the battery indicator LED will turn on. IMPORTANT: Do not use the device while charging. It is not recommended to start a recording with low battery. This can affect the quality of the recorded signal. Pairing Be sure the computer has a Bluetooth adapter. It is necessary to carry out a pairing procedure with the computer before using it for the first time. This procedure can be accomplished from the Windows Control Panel. The name of the device corresponds to its serial number, indicated on the product label.
22 English Versatile EEG 32 Power-up 16 For the placement of the clip: 1 1. Start by taking a sponge and wetting it in water. Ensure that the sponge is just damp (not wet/dripping) by gently squeezing it. 2. Insert the damp sponge in the inner part of the clip, on the metallic sensor. Place the sponge within the orientation ledges that surround the sensor to ensure its correct placement, as shown in the picture Place the clip on the earlobe, ensuring that the sponge is facing the back of the ear. 3
Reference guide English 23 Signal acquisition 17 Once all sensors are damp and placed, verify each signal with the software. The color of the sensors will indicate the quality of contact. The final quality achieved depends on the correct placement.
24 English Versatile EEG 32 Signal acquisition In case of sensor failure Gently push the sensor against the head, in a small circular motion, to improve contact with the scalp. 10s Wait for a few seconds until the signal stabilizes. If the sensor still does not work, repeat this step once or twice. If good signal is still not achieved, verify the humidity of the inner sponge. If the sponge is dry or not sufficiently damp, repeat the dampening process. Push the sensor gently against the head until the signal is acquired.
Reference guide English 25 Removing the cap 1. Power off the amplifier and disconnect it Remove the clip and the chinstrap. 3. Finally remove the cap, starting from the forehead. 2.A. 2.A.
26 English Versatile EEG 32 Removing the cap 1. Remove, one by one, each of the electrodes before cleaning the cap. Gently pull the electrode while rotating it. Please do not attempt to remove the electrode by pulling from the cables (damage risk) Remove the sponges. For hygiene reasons, we recommend tossing the sponges after each use Store the sensors in the square holder to ensure correct maintenance. 6 C3 P3 P P O1
Reference guide English 27 Maintenance Cleaning the cap Clean the cap after each use without removing the blue sensor sockets. Use warm water with a few drops of soft detergent (we recommend Ivory). Rinse with water and leave it to dry on a flat surface. Do not use aggressive cleaners or shampoo. Attention! Do not use hot sterilization methods (steam), at the risk of damaging cable insulation. When not in use, caps and electrodes should the kept in a dry place. To disinfect the cap, we recommend the use of a specific disinfecting solution, Korsolex plus. Dilute 30 ml solution per liter of cold water, and submerge the cap (without the sensors) for 15 minutes. Very important Do not use strong or abrasive disinfectants to clean the product. Read carefully the instructions on the use of a disinfectant solution. When selecting a cleaning product, confirm its effectiveness and compatibility with the material. Conservation Keep the product in its original packaging while not in use. If you are storing the device for long period of time (several months or weeks), it is recommended that the battery is not 100% charged. This can degrade the battery and result in capacity loss, which causes a decrease in the autonomy of the device. V-E
