1 ICLS Installation Guidelines Control Pack / Row Pack 1 2 / Install these components in a easily accessible place near the main input power for the room. The default location is near the main room entrance. SWITCHES Install per specification generally, placed at the primary entrances to pick up input power. Install 3-way switching per established standards. Row es LUMINAIRE ICLS can be installed with a variety of luminaires. Specific instruction sheets are included for your product luminaire. 3 Install per specification generally, it s preferred to place the feed end close to primary input power location. Luminaire Finelite s Gridbox is included and should be used at each line voltage feed location. TEACHER CENTER (TCC) TCC Placement per specification. In general, the TCC is installed on the main teaching wall close to the teacher s desk. If not specified, the default location is to the left of the whiteboard. OCCUPANCY SENSOR Ceiling mounted in approximate center of room. Detailed information is included with sensor. DAYLIGHT DIMMING SENSOR (Not shown in drawing) Ceiling mounted between luminaire rows in 2-row installation. Daylight Sensor (Not shown in drawing) Ceiling mounted between two rows nearest daylight source in 3-row installation. Detailed information is included with sensor. 5 6 Low Voltage Wires LOW VOLTAGE WIRES Short cables are installed between components of the Control Pack/ Row Pack. 2 ICLS Final Checklist / Trouble Shooting Guide FINAL CHECKLIST Teacher Control Center TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE cont. Teacher Control Center with VERIFY OPERATION Refer to labeled faceplate for Teacher Control Center General/AV switch should power outboard (General) and inboard (A/V) lamps respectively. slider (if applicable) should dim the inboard lamps when General/AV is in the (daylight dimming systems will have outboard lamps dim). should cause occupancy sensor LED s to flash on and off once per second for one hour, indicating a maintained occupancy signal. INSTALL FACEPLATES Install all faceplates once system operation has been verified. INSTALL USE AND CARE MANUAL The Use and Care Manual arrives in a clear plastic sleeve with adhesive back. Remove the back sheet, exposing the adhesive surface. Adhere clear plastic sleeve to wall (or other designated area) beneath the Teacher Control Center. It is recommended that the and Daylight Sensor instruction sheets be placed behind the Use and Care Manual in this sleeve for the maintenance personnel. TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE Teacher Control Center with LIGHTS DON T TURN ON cont. 3. Test the cable, and replace as necessary 4. Refer to Watt Stopper instructions for troubleshooting sensor. DIMMING (or another feature) WORKS INTERMITTENTLY 1. Test all cables, starting with the one connecting TCC to Control Pack LIGHTS STAY ON IN 1. Check override switch, which is located on the Control Pack. 2. Test all cables, starting with the one connecting TCC to Control Pack. ONE GROUP OF LAMPS (usually 2 or 3) FLICKER OR DO NOT WORK 1. Electrician inspects & potentially replaces ballast and lamps ONE OF LAMPS DOES NOT WORK 1. Make sure all Row, Expansion, and Whiteboard Packs are daisy chained to the Control Pack 2. Check high voltage connections for the problem row AND A/V ARE REVERSED 1. Remove TCC faceplate 2. Reverse General/AV switch orientation 3. Replace faceplate Diagnostic LED s Control Pack Detail Change Lighting Modes (General to A/V) A/V SWITCH DOESN T WORK 1. Make sure that the TCC is plugged into the Control Pack. 2. Make sure the 1st Row pack is plugged into the Control Pack. 3. Make sure all other Row, Expansion, and Whiteboard Packs are daisy chained into the 1st Row Pack. 4. Test the A/V mode by using the A/V override switch (the lights should go directly in the ). a. Check high voltage connections if this does not work 5. Test the cable. a. Use cable tester and replace cable as necessary LIGHTS DON T TURN ON 1. Make sure is plugged into the Control Pack. 2. Test the Control Pack by using the OCC override switch (the lights should turn on). a. Check high voltage connections if this does not work. Control Pack / Row Pack DIMMING DOES NOT WORK ON ALL S 1. Make sure the TCC is plugged into the Control pack 2. Make sure the low voltage plug & play dimming feed from each row of fixtures is connected into a Low Voltage Splitter 3. Make sure all Low Voltage Splitters are daisy chained back to the Control pack 4. Test cable from TCC to Control Pack 5. Test cable from TCC to first low voltage splitter DIMMING DOES NOT WORK ON ONE (or more) (S) 1. Make sure the low voltage plug & play dimming feed from each row of fixtures is connected into a Low Voltage Splitter 2. Make sure all Low Voltage Splitters are daisy chained back to the Control pack 3. Test cable from the last working row to the first non-working row Control Pack Low Voltage Splitter /06 B

In general, a 2 or 3 row system can be attached to a 4" square junction box with an extender ring. Control Pack, Row Packs, and Expansion Packs connect directly to a 1 2" knockout. ASSEMBLY Assemble the Control, Row, Expansion, and Whiteboard packs as shown (as needed for your particular job). Insert retaining rings as shown on right to secure packs to junction box. Attach flex or conduit as needed per specific wiring configuration. Make wiring connections as shown in the wiring diagrams. PLACEMENT Use care when placing the Control Pack/Row Pack. Position the unit near the main input power for the room and make sure it is accessible to maintenance personnel. The default location is near the main room entrance. Wiring Diagrams Low Voltage Wires LOW VOLTAGE CONNECTIONS Low voltage connections are made as shown in wiring diagrams. 2 Cat5 cables are provided to make connections between the Control Pack, Row Pack, Expansion Pack, and Whiteboard Pack. It doesn t matter which port is used on each pack as long as you make a connection between the packs as shown. 50 Cat5 Cables are provided to make connections from the Control Pack to the, Teacher Control Center, and optional dimming components. Use cable ties on brackets to strain relief all CAT5 cables during installation. Do not over tighten. DO USE LARGE RADIUS BENDS AND DON T ALLOW SHARP ANGLES TO FORM IN THE CABLE /06 A

4 Installing the Teacher Control Center, Row es, and TEACHER CENTER (TCC) Placement The TCC should be placed on the main teaching wall or as noted in the specification. In general, the TCC is installed on the main teaching wall close to the teacher s desk. If not specified, the default location is to the left of the whiteboard. Position switches so the Top is upward. Place the whiteboard switch (if applicable) in the correct faceplate position. Identify the switch by the orange wire connecting it to the assembly. OCCUPANCY SENSOR Assembly Attach the occupancy sensor interface board to the occupancy sensor as shown. Wiring The TCC is shipped as a unit. The installer must bring low voltage CAT5 cable (provided) from the Control Pack unit to the TCC. The TCC can be installed into a junction box (sized appropriate for the number of switches) or a network-wiring bracket. If conduit is required to meet local codes, the installer should use 3 4 conduit and use large radius bends to prevent kinks in the cable. NOTE line voltage power CANNOT be run to the same electrical box as the TCC. Assembly Placement The ceiling mounted occupancy sensor is to be placed in the center of the room unless otherwise dictated by the room design. In a three-row design it is suggested to place the sensor in the center of the room between the two rows closest to the teacher s desk. See instructions included with the occupancy sensor for specific details. Teacher Control Center Occupancy sensor can be screwed into a 4 octagonal junction box. Installation The occupancy sensor can be installed with or without a junction box. Consult local codes for specific requirements. Row switches are installed in accordance with local codes and established practices. Consult wiring diagrams to ensure the appropriate connection to the Control Pack/Row Pack. Three-way switching can be accommodated using established practices. 1 2 The occupancy sensor can be installed in the ceiling tile without a junction box. Spring clips are included with the sensor The Teacher Control Center is easy to install. Simply plug in the low voltage wiring to the back of the TCC and mount the unit. If conduit is required, the installer shall use 3 4" conduit and use large radius bends to prevent kinks from forming in the cable. Network wiring brackets are a good solution for low voltage situations. Faceplates Faceplates should be installed after it has been confirmed that the system is operating as designed. Multiple s Additional occupancy sensors can be daisy chained together. Simply follow the above Assembly, Placement, and Installation guidelines and then connect the occupancy sensors together using CAT5 cable (provided) /06 B

5 / Daylight ICLS classrooms can integrate dimming or daylight dimming. Installation is made easy through the use of plug and play low voltage cable. ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS 1 2 WHAT YOU RECEIVE ONSITE: LUMINAIRES WITH PLUG AND PLAY FEEDS The luminaires arrive at the jobsite with a low voltage plug connected through one end of the luminaire. Run this low voltage plug through the canopy and into the plenum. Unless required by local codes, a junction box is not required. LOW VOLTAGE SPLITTER One low voltage splitter is included for each luminaire row and daylight dimming sensor. 1) Connect the feed from each luminaire to the supplied low voltage splitters. 2) Connect the feed from the daylight dimming sensor (if applicable) to the supplied low voltage splitter. 3) Using the supplied 50 Cat5 cables, create a daisy chain from the Low Voltage Splitters back to the Control Pack. DAYLIGHT DIMMING SENSOR INSTALLATION Consult the specific instructions that were included with the daylight sensor for installation and commissioning instructions. NOTE See the section below on Lamp Burn-In prior to connecting and commissioning the daylight sensor. LAMP BURN-IN PROCEDURE FOR DIMMING SYSTEMS Lamp manufacturers recommend burning in lamps (having them on at full output) for a minimum of 12 hours prior to dimming. Follow this guideline to burn in the lamps for maximum lamp life. 1. Do not connect the daylight sensor (if applicable) to the system. 2. Override the occupancy sensor a. Flip the occupancy sensor override switch located on the Control Pack as shown here. 3. Make sure slide dimmer is set to maximum (flush to the top). 4. Leave lamps on for a minimum of 12 Hours. 5. Activate the a. Return the occupancy sensor override switch to its previous position. 6. Connect daylight sensor to the system as described above. 7. Commission the daylight sensor as instructed in sheets included with the sensor /06

Every job has unique site conditions, and you may have to deviate from these diagrams as necessary to achieve your specific requirements. Contact factory with any questions.
