2 Sentinel Asia Sentinel Asia is a voluntary initiative by a collaboration between space agencies and disaster management agencies, applying remote sensing and Web-GIS technologies to assist disaster management in the Asia-Pacific region. In Oct 2005, APRSAF-12, in Kitakyushu, Japan, approved the plan to initiate the pilot project. In Feb 2006, Joint Project Team (JPT) was organized. Step1 ( ), a pilot project, has finished, and Step2 ( ) has initiated. New Website 2

9 Request for Proposal (RFP) for WINDS Utilization RFP for JPT and ADRC members by JAXA and UNESCAP Applications from 9 organizations of 8 countries 7 organizations of 7 countries are selected from the viewpoint of utilization of SA, accessibility to SA, and contribution to disaster management in their own countries: National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN), Indonesia Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), Vietnam Ministry of Disaster Management (MoDM), Sri Lanka National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mongolia International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), Nepal Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization (SPARRSO), Bangladesh National Disaster Management Office (NDMO), Fiji Now they are under process of installation, and will be installed in
