7 Smart City Venture Overview Smart City Venture between Sprint, Cisco & select US Cities Sprint provides a Cisco powered and delivered Wi-Fi network as a managed service enabling Connected City and/or public Wi-Fi. Sprint and City determine areas of coverage. Leverages Cisco experience, relationships and local presence to broker conversations. 50% of Wi-Fi network for City usage Employees, Citizens, Visitors and S+CC solutions. 50% of Wi-Fi network for Sprint usage Improved customer experience, network coverage and capacity enhancements. Sprint funded, Cisco delivered.to Sprint in year two. 3
8 Smart City Venture Overview: What does City need to provide? Hanging Rights on physical assets for Wi-Fi access points. Supplemental hanging rights on physical assets for Sprint networking devices. Power and fiber on targeted assets to power/connect Wi-Fi access points and Sprint networking devices. Conduit access from Wi-Fi access point locations to street level aggregation cabinets. Power, fiber and space in or on street level cabinet for networking aggregation. Fiber connectivity between street level aggregation cabinets and data center Access to City data center rack space, power and fiber connection for aggregation switches. Connectivity to Sprint networking via internet connection. Other value exchange items. 4
9 Venture Overview: What contracts will be necessary? Strategic Collaboration Agreement Physical Asset Access Rights Agreement Data Ownership and License Agreement Wi-Fi Managed Services Contract All agreements are for a 5 year term with one additional five year option and annually thereafter. 5
10 Situation: The downtown areas has been going through a revitalization program over the past several years. The mayor wants to continue to draw entrepreneurs and innovation through technology. Improving citizen experiences. Challenges: Program underway to add a streetcar in Current wireless connectivity is perceived as inadequate by City staff, Citizens and Visitors. Solution: By creating an initial set of connected services (Kiosks, Lighting, water sensors) and enabling a living lab for continued innovation, KC can attract and employ a more entrepreneurial conducive environment. A better network highway must be built to support this innovative vision. 6
