27 Analysts Biographies Analyst: Dr. Ray Mota brings a talent for complex technical and critical thinking and provides strategic direction, sharp analysis, and expert advice on networking issues, specializing in design, implementation, and troubleshooting. Prior to founding ACG Research Dr. Mota worked for Aberdeen Group, ManageAll, Micros-To-Mainframes, Advanced Technology Group, Eastman Kodak and the IRS. As a CTO, he designed, implemented and supported complex trading floor systems and large WAN Frame Relay and ATM networks. He also provided training on Sniffer, HP Advisor protocol analysis tools, and MPLS architectures. Ray has also developed cloud applications and has a software patent attributed to him. Routinely called upon to speak as a guest lecturer throughout the country, Ray is recognized as an expert in topics relating to networks, managed services, cloud computing, operational efficiency, and business modeling. He has been the keynote speaker for the top cloud, channel, Wall Street, telecom event around the world. His commentaries and analyses have been published in The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Bloomberg, Telecom Magazine, MSNBC, CNN Money, Forbes, Fortune, Businessweek, NY Times, SF Chronicle and other industry publications. 27

28 Analysts Biographies Analyst: Tim Doiron is principal analyst for ACG s Intelligent Transport Networking practice, which includes Packet Optical Transport solutions, Data Center Interconnect, Transport/Multi-Layer SDN and fixed-line NFV. Doiron was most recently vice president, product management for Coriant s Data line of business. Doiron has more than 25 years of telecommunications industry experience. In addition to previous general manager, product planning and product management posts at Tellabs, Doiron has held a variety of leadership positions in software engineering, product management, business development and marketing at ARRIS, Cadant, Ericsson, and Southwestern Bell Wireless. Doiron began his career as an engineer in the avionics labs at Boeing. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Southern Illinois University, a Master of Science in electrical engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and a Master of Business Administration from Webster University. Doiron also holds seven U.S. patents and is a member of IEEE and OSA. Tim is also an active member of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Industrial Advisory Board at Southern Illinois University. 28

29 Analysts Biographies Analyst: Paul Parker-Johnson (PJ) leads ACG s cloud computing and data center virtualization market research and consulting practice. His work examines market sizes, innovations and trends in cloud computing, service delivery platforms, and the virtualization technologies that enable them. PJ brings his trademark analytic skills to bear on developments in virtual computing, cloud services software, service orchestration, network simplification and related enablers of cloud computing services. PJ s passion for the cloud springs from a rich history of engagement in network and application innovations for over 30 years. Prior to joining ACG he was director of cloud computing solutions development and marketing at Juniper Networks, delivering advanced network, software, and partner platform solutions to service provider and enterprise customers globally. Direct experience designing and delivering solutions in the XaaS and virtual data center landscapes informs his work. Prior to his work in data centers and the cloud PJ served in Juniper s service provider and emerging markets strategy teams, bringing numerous platforms and innovations in routing, switching, security and advanced network services to market over a ten year span. 29

30 Analysts Biographies Analyst: Robert Haim has more than twenty-five years of experience in a variety of disciplines in networking and data communication. His career includes assignments in R&D teams for protocol, software and hardware designs. For the past fifteen years, he has worked in product management and product marketing for wireline and wireless infrastructures at startups and major networking equipment vendors, Tellabs and Ericsson. He is currently focused on network function virtualization and cloud-based networking infrastructures and their economic impacts on service providers. He has created a variety of TCO models and spreadsheets for Ericsson s marketing and sales departments. His works for the sales group were used to help win several major accounts. Robert graduated from UCLA with a B.S in computer engineering and an M.S. in computer science. He received his MBA from Pepperdine University. 30

31 Analysts Biographies Analyst: Liliane Offredo-Zreik is principal analyst for ACG s video infrastructure and services practice. Liliane was most recently president of The Sannine Group, an advisory firm for the telecommunications industry, which she founded in She advised many companies in telecom, cable and media on issues such as competitive analysis and strategic positioning, creating major new revenue growth opportunities through product innovation in new verticals, and due diligence for major M&A transactions. Prior to founding The Sannine Group, Liliane was the VP of Strategy and Development for Time Warner Cable (now Charter), where she was instrumental in the launch of VoIP based telephony services (Digital Phone) and in defining a roadmap and an infrastructure for converged services. Liliane was a director of marketing at Sonus Networks, one of the premier VoIP equipment vendors, where she initiated and led a solutions marketing organization. She also developed and led the marketing organization at Broadband2Wireless, a high-profile private company offering WIFI based subscribed broadband services. Liliane started her career with Verizon Corp. where she held roles with increasing responsibility during her eight years with the company. She also was a high-yield credit analyst with Muzinich & Co., a buy side investment fund. Liliane has an MBA from Harvard Business School, a Master in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, and a BSEE from Syracuse University. She is a board member of the Martina Arroyo Foundation. 31

32 Analysts Biographies Analyst: Stephen Collins has 35 years of networking and telecommunications experience across many segments of the industry in both business and technology, having served in executive and managerial roles: general manager, VP of product marketing, VP of business development, product line manager and software engineering manager. He also has extensive experience bringing new products to market with technology-driven startups and emerging growth companies as an executive, independent consultant and advisor to early-stage investors. Most recently, Stephen was VP of product marketing and business development at Active Broadband Networks. Prior to that, he was VP of marketing at Acme Packet, VP of marketing and business development at Tatara Systems, and VP of marketing at Sonus Networks. In 1998, Stephen co-founded Spring Tide Networks, which was acquired by Lucent Technologies for $1.5 billion. He began his career in 1981 at predivestiture AT&T Bell Labs and then at BBN Communications gained firsthand experience with IP networking on the ARPANET. He joined Wellfeet Communications in 1986 as a founding engineer and developed two generations of multiprotocol routers, eventually serving as product line manager. Stephen is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and has authored numerous articles for trade publications. He holds an M.S. in Computer, Information and Control engineering from the University of Michigan and a B.S. in Computer Systems Engineering, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He currently serves as an advisor to the ECE departments at UMass Amherst and UMass Dartmouth. 32

33 Core Operations Team Karen Grenier, vice president of operations, delivers 25+ years of proven leadership and skills in management, training design and delivery, quality assurance and strategic communication and public relations initiatives to support the achievement of business objectives. Experience in management, including generalist human resources administration, supervision, and project execution. Ms. Grenier has worked for First Union Bank, DST Interactive, Cone Mills, Phelps Dodge, Machine Solutions, and American Express. She has broad experience providing and overseeing quality control for documentation and has developed and implemented metrics, assessment tools and processes for evaluating technical writers, training designers, and trainers. As the Lead Technical Writer for DST Interactive (billing software) and Metagon (data warehousing software), she directed these companies writing team that supported, through the development of user manuals and other resources, the Software Development Divisions. She was also managing editor for a national health and yoga magazine as well as publishing articles for a variety of health supplement companies and publications. Karen has a Bachelor s degree in English and Spanish at the University of Maine, a Master s Degree in Adult Education, focusing in training and development, at the University of Southern Maine and a Bachelor of Arts degree in fine arts from Winthrop University in South Carolina. 33
