4 UK s offshore renewable energy opportunity 4 UK at forefront of offshore wind development - UK: 3.653GW (56% of current global capacity, 52% by numbers of turbines) Employment currently c6800 full time employees Highest ambitions in the world - 6GW by 2016, potential for 10GW by 2020 (~10% of UK electricity demand) Marine energy in developmental phase - More wave and tidal devices installed in UK waters than in the rest of the world combined - Potential to deliver up 60GW of electricity, 75 per cent of UK s current needs

5 Opera&onal Performance Database - SPARTA System Performance, Availability and Reliability Trend Analysis Benchmarking tool for UK offshore wind farms - available to Owner Operators from April 2014 Web- based database solucon for the colleccon and presentacon of anonymised availability, reliability & performance data at system level, against 70 performance metrics Leads to the idencficacon of operaconal improvement opportunices driving reduccon in LCoE Great example of industry collaboracon Joint inicacve between Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult and The Crown Estate, establishing a precedent for further collaboracve data and knowledge sharing inicacves Sponsors will have invested 1M by March 2015, including system enhancements during the Pilot Year

Data and Metrics SPARTA includes a set of reporcng metrics to provide a uniform way of defining the data to be reported. This will aid with benchmarking windfarm operacons.

9 Data and Metrics SPARTA includes a set of reporcng metrics to provide a uniform way of defining the data to be reported. This will aid with benchmarking windfarm operacons. Data for each windfarm is a combinacon of fixed general data (single upload) and variable monthly metrics. The monthly metrics cover a range of performance measures including: repairs, turbine availability, cable and grid outages, and heavy- li^ing vessel usage. Uploading of data takes place through a web- portal, accessed only by the members of the project

11 Developed with capacity to grow Fully flexible database system, SPARTA is now ready to accept non- UK windfarm data and could also be adapted for use for: Onshore wind farms; Wave and Cdal arrays, once operaconal data is available; Health & safety reporcng Fraunhofer IWES, Germany SPARTA is aligned with the German project Offshore~WMEP led by the Fraunhofer IWES insctute. The Fraunhofer project operates at a more detailed component level but the two projects are collaboracng to coordinate data capture The Crown Estate, ORE Catapult and Fraunhofer IWES have signed an MoU which records the joint wish to work together TKI Wind Op Zee, The Netherlands Strong interest in SPARTA Wish to collaborate MoU signed TKI to discuss with Dutch authorices local working group in prospect ReporCng provisions in exiscng licences Only 2 operaconal sites currently in Dutch waters (but further tendering planned)
