4 Create a new database 1. Start Up SQL Server Management Studio and right click on Databases. 2. Select New Database 1

5 Configure the database 1. Name the database anything you like. In this example we have named the database SureTrend. 2. Click OK at the bottom of the window to close it. 2

6 Create a new login 1. Expand the Security folder and right click Logins. 2. Select New Login 3

7 Configure the database user 1. Start by giving the database user a name. In this example we have named the user STuser. 2. Select SQL Server authentication and enter a password in both the Password and Confirm password boxes. 3. Uncheck Enforce password policy. 4. Select the SureTrend database you created from the dropdown menu. 5. Click OK at the bottom of the window to close it. 4

8 Import the SureTrend database tables 1. Download SureTrend SQL Import Script sql by clicking here. 2. Double click on it to launch the script in SQL Server Management Studio. 3. Make sure the database selected is the new SureTrend database you created. 4. Click Execute to run the script. 5

9 Modify the database user properties 1. Expand the Security folder and expand the Logins folder. 2. Right click your newly created SureTrend database user and select Properties. 6

10 Map the database user to the SureTrend database 1. Click User Mapping on the left-hand column. 2. Select the SureTrend database you created to highlight it. Make sure it is the only database checked. 3. Make sure db_owner and public roles are checked. 4. Click OK at the bottom of the window to close it. 7

Check the Multiuser Distributed Network box when you get to this screen to install SureTrend server components. *Note 1* You will not have to check this box when you re installing SureTrend on client machines connecting to this server. *Note 2* Make sure HTTP Activation is turned on in Server Manager after this installation completes. Change the Config Type to SQLServer. Enter the SQL Server name and the SureTrend database name you created earlier. Enter the SQL SureTrend database username and password. Click Save to save and restart SureTrend.

15 Final steps Pointing clients to the server Install SureTrend on any machine you wish to connect to the server without checking the Multiuser Distributed Network box during installation. Start SureTrend on the client machine once installed and go to Admin tab across the top. From the list of tabs on the left choose Server Configuration Setting. Once there, change the settings you see to match the image on the left. Change the Config Type to Distributed and enter the Hostname or IP Address of the server. Click Save to restart SureTrend and when you ve reopened it verify it s connected to the server by revisiting this area. Continue to the next page
