1 Master Builders Brand and Identity Guidelines

2 Introduction The Master Builders corporate brand and identity are important business assets that must be protected and managed in order to retain maximum value. The Master Builders brand and identity represents years of trust and integrity within the building and construction industry. To help convey this message and ensure the maximum consistency, it is important to follow these guidelines when working with the Master Builders brand and identity. For clarification of any aspect of these guidelines, please address all queries to Master Builders Marketing Coordinator. Master Builders recommends any reproduction of the Master Builders logo be done under the supervision of an experienced designer or desktop publisher. These guidelines should be brought to the attention of any designer and/or printer undertaking any work using the Master Builders identity. Copies of this manual and all design elements are available from Master Builders. Please contact the Marketing Coordinator for more information. Any departure from the examples shown within this standards manual must be approved by 2

3 Logo Elements The Master Builders logo is made up of three elements. The Symbol, Logo Type and Branch Identifier. Symbol Logo Type Branch Identifier The Symbol and Logo Type will remain consistent throughout the logo suite while the Branch Identifier will change to identify a state, territory or division of The relationship (proportions and positioning) between the Symbol, Logo Type and Branch Identifier must remain consistent when using the logo. Do no attempt to redraw or change the elements of the logo (including colours) in any way. Master Builders recommends any reproduction of the Master Builders logo be done under the supervision of an experienced designer or desktop publisher. Any departure from the examples shown within this standards manual must be approved by 3

4 Logo Clearspace The Master Builders logo must reproduce clear of any other graphic elements or type to a minimum distance. The minimum clear space is equal to the measurement from the cap height of the logo type to the base line of the branch identifier. Master Builders recommends any reproduction of the Master Builders logo be done under the supervision of an experienced designer or desktop publisher. Any departure from the examples shown within this standards manual must be approved by 4

5 Logo Size Reproducing the logo elements at a smaller size than marked is likely to result in poor legibility and distortion. 6pt 25mm The minimum size for the Master Builders logo is 25mm high. This is the equivalent of the Branch Identifier at 6 points. The width of the logo should be scaled proportionate to the height. This minimum size specification applies to all versions of the logo. Do not stretch or skew any of the logo elements. Master Builders recommends any reproduction of the Master Builders logo be done under the supervision of an experienced designer or desktop publisher. Any departure from the examples shown within this standards manual must be approved by 5

6 Logo Versions The Master Builders logo is available in a range of different versions to meet different needs while maintaining optimal contrast. Full Colour Monochromatic Reverse Master Builders prefers the logo to present seamlessly on its background (not trapped in a box). To achieve this the correct file format will need to be used. See page 8 for more details. The logo must be placed on a simple background. The preferred scenario is the use of the Full Colour version on a white background. The Full Colour version may be reproduced on a very light (almost white) background. However this must be approved by Master Builders. When the background is not white the Monochromatic or Reversed versions must be used. Deciding which one to use is based on which version has the most contrast with the background. The Monochromatic version can be used when the colour pallet is constrictive (i.e. black and white newspaper promotions or faxable materials). Master Builders recommends any reproduction of the Master Builders logo be done under the supervision of an experienced designer or desktop publisher Any departure from the examples shown within this standards manual must be approved by 6

7 Logo Colour Spaces Each version of the Master Builders logo is available in a range of colour spaces to suit the requirements for different media. The PMS colour space is the ideal colour space to work with to accurately reproduce the Master Builders logo s corporate colours in most instances. In some instances when producing materials for print the CMYK colour space may be required. In some instances when producing materials for screen reproduction the RGB colour space my be required. Do no attempt to redraw or change the elements of the logo (including colours) in any way. Master Builders recommends any reproduction of the Master Builders logo be done under the supervision of an experienced designer or desktop publisher Any departure from the examples shown within this standards manual must be approved by 7

8 Logo File Formats To reproduce the Master Builders logo to its maximum potential ensure the original vector files are used when possible. The ideal format to use when reproducing the Master Builders logo is in the original vector format. File formats such as JPG, GIF, TIF, etc. are NOT vector file formats and are (in most circumstances) NOT ideal formats for Master Builders to supply. Vector file formats are often unable to be used or even viewed on a standard office computer. Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint do not support these vector file formats. Master Builders highly discourages the use of Microsoft Office products to reproduce the Master Builders logo. These products are not intended for professional graphic production. Master Builders recommends any reproduction of the Master Builders logo be done under the supervision of an experienced designer or desktop publisher. 8

9 Logo Donts The following is a summerised graphic representation of a range of incorrect usages of the Master Builders logo. Master Builders logo must not be placed over complex backgrounds. See page 6 for more details. Reversed version should not be used where Monochromatic version would produce greater contrast to the background (and visa versa). See page 6 for more details. The preferred way to present the Master Builders logo is so that it blends in with its surrounding and is not trapped in a box. See page 6 for more details. The Master Builders logo must not have any extra digital effects added (i.e. drop shadows and embossing effects). The Master Builders logo must not be stretched or skewed. The Master Builders must not be lightened or darkened. BOB S PAINTING SERVICES The Master Builders logo must not be crowded by other elements. See page 4 for more details. The colours of the Master Builders logo must not be changed. Elements of the Master Builders logo must not be recreated in any way. 9
