3 INTRODUCTION To ensure more parents and caregivers know how, when and why they should use their local family resource center, FTF-funded family resource centers in Maricopa County recognized the value in branding themselves as a unified entity: The First Things First Family Resource Network. The purpose of this document is to provide guidance on the use of the First Things First Family Resource Network logo by authorized partners in developing co-branded materials. Consistent use of the network logo will help to build public awareness of the high-quality services available at each family resource center in the network. The network logo is intended to be used in conjunction with your FRC s existing logo/name, on your FRC s website/webpages, communications, signage, print materials about your FRC and its services, etc. In most cases, the network logo should be used in place of the standard First Things First logo you currently display. (When specifically referring to funding sources, the standard FTF logo is still appropriate to use.) In addition to displaying the network logo, you should also reference the network in the body of print or online text describing your FRC with the following sentence: [Your Family Resource Center] is part of the First Things First Family Resource Network. 4 LOGO FILES While the First Things First Family Resource Network logo PREFERRED LOGO VERSION is available in five different formats, the full-color logo is preferred version. To maximize impact and clarity, the full-color logo should appear against a solid white background. It can also be used against solid fields of gray or complementary shades of blue. Secondary versions of the network logo, including grayscale, one-color (black) and reverse (white), should be used only in instances when color artwork and layouts are not possible, such as black-and-white newspaper print ads. Always use the electronic artwork appropriate for your application. RGB Use this logo for all digital communications and basic print materials. FRN_RGB_Logo.jpg FRN_RGB_Logo.png FRN_RGB_Logo.eps CMYK Use this logo for full color, professional print applications. FRN_CMYK_Logo.eps (The CMYK version of the logo is provided in EPS format only.) WEB Use JPG files for online applications. BASIC PRINT MATERIALS Use JPG files in Word, Publisher and other standard applications. POWERPOINT Use PNG files in PowerPoint presentations. PROFESSIONAL PRINTING Use EPS files when using design software such as InDesign, Illustrator, etc. for more advanced print applications. GRAYSCALE Use this logo for all one-color print applications. FRN_Grayscale_Logo.jpg FRN_Grayscale_Logo.png FRN_Grayscale_Logo.eps ONE-COLOR (BLACK) Use this logo for all one-color print applications where the grayscale logo cannot be reproduced. FRN_Black_Logo.jpg FRN_Black_Logo.png FRN_Black_Logo.eps REVERSE (WHITE) Use this logo anytime it appears on a dark background. FRN_Reverse_Logo.eps (The reverse version of the logo is provided in EPS format only.) 4

5 CLEAR SPACE / LOGO SIZING Always maintain the original proportions of the First Things First Family Resource Network logo when resizing/scaling. Avoid squashing, stretching or otherwise distorting its dimensions. Ideally the network logo should appear no smaller than 1.25 inches in width. CLEAR SPACE AROUND LOGO A minimum distance of X must be maintained around the Family Resource Network logo. In the example, the X equals the height of the logomark in the First Things First logo. LOGO SIZING Maintaining the original proportions and following the specifications for minimum size will ensure that the network logo is clearly legible in all forms of reproduction. X X-HEIGHT 1.25 inches X X Also to ensure maximum visibility and legibility, always maintain a minimum amount of clear space around the network logo, as shown here. The clear space provides a sufficient area of background around the logo to protect it from overcrowding, which can detract from its impact. X 5

6 CO-BRANDING The First Things First Family Resource Network logo is intended to be used in conjunction with your FRC s existing logo/name. LOGO LOCK-UP AND USAGE EXAMPLES Your FRC s individual identity should always be most prominent and identifiable. The network s logo should appear as a complement to your FRC s name/logo. There will be times when you may want to place the Family Resource Network logo next to your logo a logo lock-up. In such instances, always separate the logos with a dividing line. When creating a lock-up using the logo, provide ample spacing between the logo and divider line. When used alongside an additional partner logo (a school district, for example), the network logo should have equal prominence. Because partner logos may vary in shape, the logos should appear to the eye as being of equal size, even if they are not the exact same height/width. 6

7 THINGS TO AVOID The logo should be used according to the DISTORTION COLOR ADDED WORDS specifications in this brand guide. Always use the approved artwork provided and do not alter the logo in any way. Here are some examples of incorrect usage. Do not distort or stretch any part of the logo. Do not change the colors of the logo. Do not add words to the logo. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH INDIVIDUAL ELEMENTS ARRANGEMENT BACKGROUND Do not deconstruct the logo elements to form a new graphic lock-ups or identities. Do not overlap the logos; follow white space rules. Do not set the logos on contrasting fields of color. YOUR LOGO YOUR LOGO 7

8 COLOR PALETTE The primary signature color palette of the Family Resource Network logo is blue and green along with 3 neutral colors (gray, black, and white) that make up the secondary color palette. LOGO AND COLOR PALETTE Use these colors to guide your designs and layouts, both online and off, to ensure you re staying consistent with the First Things First Family Resource Network brand. 9 BRANDING APPROVAL In addition to building public awareness of the family resource centers in the network, your consistent use of the network logo also helps position First Things First as a trusted voice in early childhood. As with any grant partner, First Things First requires that materials related to your program (webpages, newsletters, flyers, banners, etc.) should acknowledge First Things First. Materials bearing the First Things First logo or the First Things First Family Resource Network logo should be submitted to First Things First for branding review and approval. Materials are to be submitted via your PGMS dashboard. The link to submit materials is in the lower right corner of the page. 9
