1 Create a movie project (using imovie app, version 211, on iphone 6) This is good to know before you get started: Undo or redo an action You can undo actions up until the last time you opened imovie. Just tap the Undo button, or to redo the action, touch and hold the Undo button, then tap Redo Project Edit. Create a movie 1. From the Projects browser or Theater, tap the Create button (+) If you re editing a project, just go to Projects and select which project you wish to edit. 2. Tap to select movie 1

2 3. To preview a selected theme, tap the Play button in the viewer, and then to create a movie using the selected theme, tap Create in the upper right corner. 4. To add video and photos to your project, do any of the following: To add existing video: Tap the Media Library button, then tap Video at the bottom (see next screenshot). 2

3 Tap the clip you want to add, then tap the down arrow to add the clip to your project. To add an existing photo: Tap the Media Library button Photos. Tap to add a photo. To take a photo directly into the project:, then tap You can take photos directly into an imovie project, for use in that project only. 1. With your project open, scroll the timeline so that the playhead (the white vertical line) appears where you want to add the new photo. 2. Tap the Camera button. The Camera app opens in video mode. 3. Swipe to put the camera in photo mode. Note: For best results, rotate your device to landscape orientation before taking photos for use in a video project. 4. Tap the Shutter button to take a photo. 5. Tap Use Photo to add the photo to your project, or tap Retake to delete the existing photo and take a new one. 3

4 To record video directly into the project: 1. With your project open, scroll the timeline so that the playhead (the white vertical line) appears where you want to add the new video. 2. Tap the Camera button. The Camera app opens in video mode. Note: imovie automatically rotates your camera to landscape orientation before recording. 3. Tap the Record button to begin recording video; tap it again to stop recording. 4. To preview the video, tap the Play button ; tap it again to stop. 5. Tap Use Video to add the video to your project, or tap Retake to discard the previous take and record new video. Recorded videos are stored in your media library (in Video > imovie Media). To make them available for use in other projects, see Send recorded video to the photo library, below. (Optional) Send recorded video to the photo library: You can send video that you recorded directly into an imovie project to the photo library, which allows you to use the video in other movies and trailers. 1. Open the project that contains the video you want to send to the photo library. 2. Tap the Media Library button, then tap Video. 3. Tap to select a video category (All) from the list. 4. Tap the disclosure triangle at the top next to the category name (All with down arrow), then tap Manage local media. 5. Tap the Move button (the down arrow) next to each video clip you want to move. 6. When you re finished, tap Done. After you send recorded video to the photo library, the video still appears in the imovie Video browser. 5. To change project settings, tap the Project Settings button, then do any of the following: To change the theme: Tap to select a different one. To add a video filter to the project: Tap to select a filter. 4

5 To add theme music to your movie: Tap to turn on Theme Music. The music automatically loops, if necessary, to play for the duration of your project. To have your movie fade in from a black screen at the beginning: Tap to turn on Fade in from black. To have your movie fade out to a black screen at the end: Tap to turn on Fade out to black. To allow pitch changes in audio when speeding up or slowing down video clips: Tap to turn on Speed changes pitch. Tap Done. 6. Edit video Split Park your play head at the frame you want to split, tap on the clip, choose Split from the menu at the bottom of the screen. Crop Park your play head within the clip that you want to crop as you can crop video clips much like you crop photographs and images. Select the clip so it turns yellow. Click the icon pinch to position the start then pinch to adjust. Then click the icon pinch to position the end, and pinch to adjust. Audio Record a voiceover by positioning the play head where you want to start recording in the timeline, and test your sound, so you can see the green indicator. Click the red record button make your recording, review, and accept. Add transitions Split the clip where you would like to add a transition (as in the direction above). Click on the transition icon which is displayed at the split. You can select a different duration along the bottom of the screen. Add a title Click the clip so it turns yellow in which you want to add a title. While selected, click on the T icon at the bottom of the screen. Choose the type of title and also click Center or Lower at the bottom of the screen. 7. Title the Project When you open imovie, and you have a menu choice of Video or Projects or Theater click Projects. Click the Project that you wish to title. In the middle of the screen, the project title will be displayed such as MY MOVIE click on that title and retype. 8. Share the Project to your Google Drive On the Projects page, click on the project that you wish to share. Click on the upload icon (between the play icon and the trash can). Click Save Video to save it in your pictures and movies. Choose the resolution that you desire & the movie will be exported to your Photo Library. Open your Google Drive app on the phone. Click the + icon in the lower right. At this point, you can choose to create a folder or just click upload to load the file, then choose Photos and Videos, open camera roll, click on the video, then click the check mark. The movie should be uploaded to your Google Drive. Click the i to get link to share. Be sure to have after turned link sharing on. 5
