1 CaptureSpace Recording CaptureSpace automatically captures video, audio and screen in parallel. You can also record presentations or capture the screen.. Open Blackboard. On the My UIW landing page, scroll down to locate the My Media module, and select My Media 2 2. On the right side of the page, click Add New. Select CaptureSpace Lite The Kaltura CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder menu opens. Before starting your recording, click through each of the tabs and select your recording options: a. Record There are four options: i. Screen ii. Screen & Webcam iii. Webcam iv. Voice b. Library - Enables you to browse through previous recordings. c. Settings - Enables you to manage CaptureSpace and: i. Determine where video files are stored ii. Select and preview webcams iii. Select the screen recording quality iv. Select a microphone and gauge the voice level d. Help - Provides: i. Information about user ii. Recorder version number iii. Website where users will be able to find their recordings 5. For this tutorial, we will record actions on the computer s screen. Select Screen in the Record tab

2 6 6. Select an area to capture. In this case choose Select Area 7. Click the Select Area icon 8. Click and drag your mouse over the screen area you want to capture and release As soon as you release the mouse, the recording begins, there will be a 5-second countdown prior to the start of the recording a. After the recording begins, you may click Alt + P to pause the recording b. Alt + D to annotate or draw on the recording 0. Drawing tools include Colors, shapes, lines and arrows. Select a color and a shape 2. Click and drag your mouse across the screen to draw the shape 4. Once the recording begins, the recording toolbar appears. From here you may a. Draw - Annotates on the screen b. Pause - Pauses a recording c. Done - Stops the recording d. Cancel - Ends and deletes the recording 4. When finished recording, click Done 5 5. The Preview and Edit window opens. This window offers playback and editing features. The editing features will be covered elsewhere. They are: a. Trim b. Chop c. Add Title d. Add Credits 6. Click Done to save the recording 2

3 6a 6b 6c 6. The Upload Options menu opens. Add details of the video including: 7. Click Upload, Preview or Save If you click Upload, The recording is uploaded to your My Media page. You can click the link, or go to My Media on the Blackboard homepage to view the video 9. Click Close a 20b 20. If you click Save, there are two additional options for your video; Preview and Save a. Click Preview to edit the video Edit CaptureSpace Video Kaltura offers the following editing options: Trim, Chop, Add Title and Add Credits. Trim allows you to trim the beginning and ending of a video. Select the recording you would like to edit by clicking the Preview icon 2. Click on the Preview button at the bottom of the screen Select Trim from the menu on the left. 4. Two blue markers are displayed on the video strip Use the Start and End markers to highlight the part of the recording you want to retain. The region to the left and right of the markers is greyed out 4

5 Trimming is only possible if the resulting video is longer than 0 seconds. 5. Click Apply 6. Click Done Select Edit original recording to edit the existing recording 8. Click Create new recording to Keep the original recording intact, and create a new recording from the edited version 9. Click Cancel to delete the edited recording and start over a b c. 7 Title and Add Credits allows you to add a title slide to the beginning of a video, or a credit slide to the end of the video. Select the recording you would like to edit by clicking the Preview icon 2. Click on the Preview button at the bottom of the screen Select Titles or Credits from the menu on the left. 4. Click the arrows to choose a title or credit style 5. Click This is the Title (or Credit) and type in titles or credits. Titles appear at the beginning of the video, and credits at the end 6. Click Apply 7. Click Done Select Edit original recording to edit the existing recording 9.
