1 Microsoft PowerPoint Workshop: Animating Text and Graphics Enter the World of CELTT Hands-on technology training in a supportive and fun environment. A hands-on workshop hosted by Workshop Objectives Participants will: Create a slide show with the AutoContent Wizard Apply entrance animation to text on a slide. Apply emphasis animation to text on a slide. Add a clip art image to a slide. Apply exit animation to the clip art image. Apply a preset motion path to the image. Apply a custom motion path to the image. Three Quick and Easy Ways to Make A New Show 1. AutoContent Wizard templates for each slide given to you 2. Design template no content, just a consistent graphic design 3. Blank presentation no content, no design; it s all up to you 1

2 The AutoContent Wizard This ensures that all participants start at the same place. The Wizard is a handy helper. AutoContent means that each slide will have text suggestions. You customize the slides by replacing the suggested text with your own text. You can also make any changes you want, e.g., adding or deleting slides, adding clip art, adding motion. Make a New Slide Show 1. Start PowerPoint 2. File Menu 3. New Command 4. Click AutoContent Wizard in the task pane The AutoContent Wizard Select Presentation Type 2

4 Apply Animation To Text Go To Slide Two Animation We ll Try on Slide Two Emphasis effect draws focus to the text text has some visual effect Entrance make text enter the slide with motion effects can be subtle..or more exciting The Process: 1. Select (click on) image 2. Go to Slide Show menu/custom Animation command 3. Click on Add Effect button and move mouse to type of effect: Entrance Emphasis Exit Motion Paths 4. 5 Apply Entrance Animation to Text: Step 2 Apply Entrance Animation to Text: Step 3 1.Slide Show Menu 2.Custom Animation Command Click on any effect on this list or click on More Effects Do it Again! Click on the 2 nd bullet. Apply an entrance animation to that line of text. Do the same with the 3 rd bullet. Task Pane The pane shows a list of animations you applied. Click on an item to edit it: Use the Change and Remove buttons to modify or delete items on the list. You can also reorder items on the list with the arrows under the list. 5

6 Apply Emphasis Animation To Text Go To Slide 11 The Process: 1. Select (click on) image 2. Go to Slide Show menu/custom Animation command 3. Click on Add Effect button and move mouse to type of effect: Entrance Emphasis Exit Motion Paths 4. Click on the effect you want Step 1:Select the Entire Text Box by clicking when you move the mouse over it and see the mouse pointer turn to the Crosshairs Apply Emphasis Animation to Text: Step 2 1.Slide Show Menu 2.Custom Animation Command 6

9 New Placeholder Double-Click for Clip Art Search tool. Double-Click on an image to add it to the slide. ClipArt Search tool Let s Animate The Clip Art! Use the white handles to resize the item. Click and drag to move it. The Process: 1. Select (click on) image 2. Go to Slide Show menu/custom Animation command 3. Click on Add Effect button and move mouse to type of effect: Entrance Emphasis Exit Motion Paths 4. Click on the effect you want 9

11 Motion Paths You can give text or clip art more exciting animation with this feature. Some paths mimic real world events. Follow same steps you did for applying other animation styles. Have fun!
