1 Freightliner Marcom Designer Manual Marcom Designer allows you to design personalized advertisements to send to your prospects and customers, whether it be through newspapers, trade publications, or flyers. With Marcom Designer, you will be able to inexpensively create professional quality advertisements, tailored to the services and products sold by your dealership. See below for details about how to use Marcom Designer: Marcom Designer can be accessed by clicking on the Tools & Resources tab in SalesCenter. From the Tools & Resources tab, click on Marketing Communications, and then click on Marketing Communications again. Once you have clicked on the second Marketing Communications tab, scroll down the page to the Marcom Designer link. Marcom Designer can also be accessed through the Retail Prospect Management (RPM) tool. The RPM tool is available via the SalesCenter. The same logon that you have for that application will grant you access to RPM.

2 Once you have accessed the RPM tool, enter the Marcom Designer by clicking on the Marcom Designer logo on your RPM homepage. At the Marcom Designer homepage, you will be given a list of products, with a corresponding list of ad options. To select an option to edit for your dealership, simple click on the desired option.

3 After you select an ad option, for example a Coronado magazine ad, several different ad options will be displayed. Select the ad you are interested in editing for your dealership by simply clicking on an ad. Once you have selected an ad to edit, you can run your mouse over the page to uncover options to edit. Your dealership information will be pre-populated so that you will not have to edit your contact information each time.

4 To edit, simply click the ad, and re-type the selection with your preferred text. To confirm the change, click the ok button. Font size can be increased or decreased by clicking the + or -, respectively. In order to cancel the change, click on the red x. Other ad options, for example, this dealership promotion piece, allow you to edit the displayed bullets, from a list of available options.

5 To save your edited ad, simply click on the file tab at the top of the screen, and designated save. A pop-up box will appear, asking you to designate a file name. To print the ad in PDF format, click on the view tab at the top of the screen. Select if you would like to view the PDF as low resolution or high resolution. Low resolution PDFs are best used to view an ad. High resolution PDFs should be used for printing.

6 Once your edited PDF is open, you can print or save the PDF by clicking on the button at the top of the screen. Remember, if you are going to save a PDF to send to the printers, you need to open the PDF as a high resolution version. Direct Mail With Marcom Designer, you can also create professional quality, direct mail advertising inexpensively - tailored to the services and products your dealership offers. Choose the art, customize the copy, then upload or create your mailing list. Marcom Designer has a simple interface that will walk you through all the steps necessary to take your direct mail advertisement from concept to execution. See below for details on how you can make this powerful new tool work for you: After logging onto the Marcom Designer, select the ad you want to customize by clicking on it. You will have two basic options for each piece of Direct Mail, with a dealer promotion or without. With a dealer promotion, there is an area on one of the panels of the trifold that allows you to add a dealer promotion to the mailer.

7 Once you have selected an ad, it will appear with your dealership information already pre-populated, so that you don't need to edit your contact information each time. By running your mouse over the ad, you will uncover edit options. Clicking on any of these edit boxes will allow you to edit that selection. Change the text, or change the size of the font. To confirm the change, click the "ok" button; to cancel the change, click the red X. When you have finished customizing the ad, click the top right button that says "order this direct mail piece." This will take you to the direct mail order checkout page. In a box at the top, you will see the five steps you will need to follow to execute the direct mail ad. 1 Mailing Options: There are two options here: Self service (the ad you've just created will be drop shipped to you and you take care of addressing, fulfillment and postage) or Full Service (which includes printed addresses, postage and fulfilment.) When you select the full service option, you will need to designate the source of your mailing list. You can use a list you have already created or you can create a new list using the buyer lookup function of RPM.

8 Remember, only dealership personnel classified as Sales Manager can create and save a new list in RPM. If you are a salesperson trying to create a direct mailing, contact your sales manager to develop a new RPM list. Your dealer administrator also has the ability to modify your security settings to allow you the capability to save mailing lists. If you are selecting a list created in RPM, each list will give you the number of addresses it contains. After selecting the appropriate option, click on the "next" button. 2 Quantity options: select the quantity of pieces you'd like to order to match the number addresses in your list. Each quantity selection includes the price for that quantity. In the event your mailing list has fewer addresses than the quantity of pieces you order, the remaining pieces will be drop shipped to you (to the shipping address you supply in step 4.) You can use the "back" button to go back and alter your mailing list options if necessary. Once you have selected the quantity of direct mail pieces, click on the "next" button.

9 3 Ad confirmation: A high-resolution PDF file will be generated once you have completed steps 1 and 2. You will be prompted to please wait as the PDF file is created. Because this is a large, high resolution image, it may take a few minutes to create. Once you have reviewed the PDF file, and are satisfied with the ad you have created, type your initials in the box provided to approve the ad. Please read the disclaimer for ad approval before initialing. This disclaimer verifies that you have reviewed the ad, and that the spelling, content and layout of the ad you have created is correct. It also indicates your understanding that the document will print as it appears in the PDF you have reviewed, and that you can not make any changes to the ad once the order has been placed. After initialling, click the "next" button. 4 Review Order: You will be prompted to select your state from a drop down menu on the review order page. North Carolina residents will be required to pay sales tax on their orders. Review the order you have placed and hit the "finish" button to complete the transaction.

10 5 Checkout: Enter the appropriate credit card, billing and shipping information on the checkout page to complete your order. Once the form is completed, click the "checkout" button at the bottom of the screen. You will be taken to a receipt page that you can print and/or save for future reference. When you close the ad after finishing your work, you can either save the ad for future reference or delete it. Purchasing direct mail through Marcom Designer has many benefits for your dealership, including: Use only one vendor to complete the process, in order to reduce administrative costs and have a consistent process Can choose to have direct mail printed and then shipped in full to you dealership Ease-of-use In just a few minutes and a few mouse clicks, you can create your own professional quality direct mail advertisements, and send them to the customers and prospects of your choice.
