3 In this tutorial you will learn a step by step guide on "How to Use Domain Security Pro." Note: At the time of this publication, this guide is based on Version 1, Build 768. Thus, if your version is a later version, you will see more improvements. The basics, however, will remain the same, as outlined in this guide. After you download the software and install, you will need to enter the Activation Code on the Authentication tab. Add A WP Blog Copyright 2013 DomainSecurityPro.com Page 3

4 Follow these steps 1. Click on "Add new Site" button 2. Enter the Browser URL where your Wordpress in installed. Make sure you add / at the end of the url. See examples. 3. Enter "FTP Login" 4. Enter "FTP Password" 5. Add "FTP Wordpress Path." See examples. If your wordpress is installed on your root domain, then most likely it is /public_html. If installed on a subdomain or subfolder, see examples. FTP or STFP Type: Unless you know about this, use FTP type with default port 21. For more advanced users, your hosting can set you up with secure SSH. To finish...click the Verify" button to check the connection of your settings. When everything is added, click "Add." EDIT.HTACCESS SETTINGS 6. Here you can Edit the username prefix of the generated username for the Authentication Required login screen. 7. This setting controls the strength of the username suffix by entering how many characters you want to have. 8. 5 9. By default, wordpress gives wp-admin as the admin path to your blog. However, if your admin path is something different, or custom, you can enter your wordpress admin path here. EDIT HOPLINK SETTINGS Hoplink protection is a cool feature. When activated, people are not able to take a image or video file (or any file you want), and emebed this file on their website, using your server and bandwidth to host it. 10. URL for blocked images - When set, if someone tries to embed an image or video file from your domain onto their website, when viewed, they will be automatically redirected to the URL you enter here. :) 12. Make exceptions for domains. Add one domain per line. If you want to allow certain domain the ability to embed images/videos from your domain, you can allow them to do this by entering the domain url here. IP LOCK CONTROLS Copyright 2013 DomainSecurityPro.com Page 6

7 IP Lock Down Control, when set, will only allow a particular IP address to visit your admin directory page. You do not have to set both htaccess and IP lockdown. That is too much really. Only one will suffice. In many ways, IP Lockdown is more secure. 13. Enter the IP Address in this field, one IP Address per line. 14. Click "Detect and Add Current IP" to detect your own IP and add. 15. This button clears IP Address window list 16. Click "Save" button to save your settings. 8 EDIT WORDPRESS PASSWORD RESET SETTINGS This option allows you to set the password strength of # of characters. 17. Click "WP Password Reset Settings" button 18. 9 ADD PROTECTION TO YOUR ADMIN DIRECTORIES 20. Click "Set htaccess Password(s)" button to set htaccess controls. Make sure your domain is highlighted or you have clicked "Select All" button. This option will require a Authentication Required login screen when someone tries to access your wp admin directory. You can click on this Copyright 2013 DomainSecurityPro.com Page 9

10 button again to set a different username/password. You can remove the htaccess protection by clicking on the "Remove" button. 21. Click "Add HotLink Protection" button to add Hotlink Protection. Click on Remove button to remove. 22. Click on "Set IP Lock" to add IP LockDown. Click on Remove IP Lock to remove this protection. 23. Click on "Reset WP admin password(s) to reset your wordpress admin passwords. You can click on this button again to reset. Note: Make sure, on 20-24, you select which Site URLs you want to protect in the main window above. You can Control C to add different sites, or use Select All button to choose all. OPEN BACKUP DIRECTORY Domain Security Pro will backup your.htaccess file every time you make changes, and store them in their own unique folder. IMPORT/EXPORT Click on Import button if you want to add FTP login details in bulk, from Filezilla. We will add more FTP Client software, but at initial launch, you can export all your sites with filezilla, and then import them into Domain Security Pro. Important: I noticed that when we import into Domain Security Pro from Filezilla xml file, that the Wordpress URL does NOT have a backslash at the end of the settings. Thus, after you import, highlight the domain, and click the Edit button and add / to the URL. Copyright 2013 DomainSecurityPro.com Page 10

11 CHECK FOR UPDATES Click on the "Check for Updates" button to check to see if there is a new version. If there is, download, exit your software, and install. New version will replace older version.
