We recommend exploring it by clicking into different areas to find out what you can do. Creating an account 1. Click the sign-up button on the homepage 2. Enter all details in the fields below and click create new account Page 1 of 10

2 3. An will be automically sent to you asking you to activate your account. Once activitated your account setup is complete. Setting up your profile/changing preferences Click on the user icon and select the preferences button From here you can update all of your profile details, including; Username address profile picture Profile background Interface language About me Year awarded churchill fellowship and research topic Notification settings Category settings User following settings. It is useful to share your actual name so that other Fellows can easily find you. Page 2 of 10

4 The first thing you might like to do after setting up your user profile is to introduce yourself to the community. Page 4 of 10

5 Introducing yourself 1. Click on category Collaboration Hub (Fellows Only) 2. Click on the topic Introductions say hello 3. Click reply to Adam Davey s message and write your introduction to the forum Page 5 of 10

6 Home Screen Below is a screenshot of what the home screen looks like On the left hand column you can see the different categories and on the right hand column the latest discussion topics are listed. To get back to the home screen simply click on the Churchill Trust logo on the top left hand side of the page. Creating a new topic If you would like to create a new discussion topic 1. click + New Topic on the right hand side of the page 2. Create a new topic bar will open up on the bottom half of the page 3. Fill in the topic title 4. Select a category (if you only want it to be seen by Fellows select the Fellows Only option) 5. Type the body of your discussion topic and click + Create Topic at the bottom of the page Once created, all users will see it and can respond. If anyone responds you will receive notifications. 7 Finding other users 1. Click on the menu item on the right hand side of the screen, then select Users 2. A list of current users will be displayed, showing their activity in the past week (if you would like to see other timeframes simply click on the arrow button next to Week to select another date range). 8 3. If you right click the name of the person, a snapshot window will pop up showing their details. You can see which year someone was awarded a Fellowship and what their research topic was. You can message them directly by clicking the Message button. Or you can right click on their name/icon within the window to view their profile page in full (screenshot below) Page 8 of 10

9 Notifications You will receive notifications if anyone has contributed to the topics you have created or participated in. You can simply respond to topics or messages from the notification. Or you can login into your Discourse account and respond from there. If you have any notifications a number will pop up on your user icon. If you click on your user icon, a menu will drop down showing your activities (new ones are highlighted). Simply click on them and they will open up. Private Messages Within your user profile setting, from the bar below your username, you can also view your private messages, notifications, activity, and summary. Page 9 of 10
