1 A BASIC GUIDE - HOW TO USE CHATTER Invitation Upon being invited by APBCo to join Chatter, you will receive an from Salesforce Chatter that appears as below. Profile Upon joining Chatter, you will be able to update your profile by adding a Picture (click add/update under photo), adding your Contact Information (click pencil) and adding About Me (click pencil).
2 For the About Me section, as it is a text field, APBCo would like to standardize the field. Please include: Title Name of Firm Year Entered Pro Bono Counsel/Partner/Coordinator Position (and any prior pro bono counsel position) Office(s) Over Which You Have Responsibility You may also include areas of practice specialty/interest or other fun information our about yourself. Please note that the text field characters are limited. 2
3 Homepage Upon clicking Chatter at the top of the screen, you will be taken to your homepage. From your Homepage, you can access your Feed (information that you follow people, groups, posts and documents), a list of our members (People), all groups to which you are either invited or are public (Groups) and all files posted in groups to which you have access (Files). Groups By clicking All Groups, you will have be able to view all groups to which you have access and may join. Click Join to join any group. 3
4 Posting Within a group, you can post information, a file or a link or even launch a poll. Simply type your message or attach your file or link and click Share. Within a text post, you can notify a person about the posting by and typing the person s name. Upon doing so, his/her profile will come up and you can select the person so they are linked to the post. 4
5 NOTE - If you post on your profile page rather than within a group, your post only appears on your profile page (and within those members feeds who are following you (see page 9)). For any substantive posts, it is recommended that you post within a specific group(s). Search You can search for people, documents and information at the top Search Bar. 5
6 When entering search terms, the search results will default to searching People, Groups and Files. In order to find information within the Feeds, click Search Feeds. 6
7 Other Functions Bookmark You are able to bookmark posts to keep them handy rather than having to search for key posts in the future. Drag your mouse near a post, and click the Bookmark This Post icon. Any posts or other items you have bookmarked are located under the Bookmarked section in your Homepage. 7
8 Private Message You can send private messages to members by clicking Send a Message underneath the member s profile picture. Chat You can live chat with members by clicking Start Chat underneath the member s profile picture or select Chat at the lower bottom right-hand corner. 8
9 Follow People You can follow people (and their posts) by selecting Follow in the member directory by reviewing the All People section on your Homepage, or selecting Follow on the member s profile. When you Follow a member, his/her posts will appear in your Feed on your HomePage, like Facebook. NOTE - You do not need to Follow someone to be able to view their profile and posts. Chatter is NOT like Facebook in that respect. Rather, every member has access to all member profiles and posts, except for posts made to private groups. For example, if you are not a board member of APBCo, you will not have access to any posts posted on the APBCo Board group pages. 9
10 Trending Topics You can create and search for Trending Topic by including a hashtag (#) in front of a key word, such as #PBI. Files You can view all files posted in all groups to which you have access and joined by selecting All Files under the Files section on your Homepage. 10
11 Settings You can set your preferences to meet your own personal tastes. You can receive Weekly Digests, Daily Digests or an for every post. You can standardize your settings for all groups and posts or you can personalize your settings by group. For example, for general membership questions/posts, you may want to receive a Daily Digest; however for posts in the Urgent group, you may want to receive an for every post. It s up to you! You can change your settings either through My Settings at the top right corner, or within a particular group under that group s picture. 11

13 Example of a Daily Digest Example of a by Post NOTE A great feature is that you can reply to a post from just by hitting Reply. By doing so, your reply will be automatically posted on Chatter without you having to log-in or visit Chatter. 13
14 Desktop & Mobile Features If you do not want to use the Internet version of Chatter, you can download the Desktop version. Or, if you want to stay connected to Chatter while on the move, you can download Chatter for your ipad, iphone, Blackberry and Android devices. See links on right hand panel on screen, which highlight that you can get Mobile or Desktop Chatter. 14
