4 TECHNOLOGY POLICY When using your devices on MDSA property, you are to follow the guidelines outlined in the MDSA Student Tech Device Policy. It is important to note the following: - MDSA enforces Internet safety by using LanSchool and restricted access to certain websites - Your devices need to be fully charged when you come to school - Your devices need to be CLEARLY LABELED with your name

5 - Use your device in a responsible, ethical and lawful and courteous manner. What does this mean for you? - Remember that there is another person on the other end of your communication - Examples of unacceptable use: - Cyberbullying - Cheating or copying other s work - Using unauthorized websites/apps during school hours

6 HELP DESK What should you do if your experiencing problems with your device? THE HELP DESK!! - Once you Mr. Mnkande, he will send you a ticket/queue number and instructions on what to do next

7 CONNECTING TO SCHOOL WIRELESS

8 Enter your MDSA username and password

9 Every day you ll need to login as yourself to access the internet. When you try to visit any website you ll receive the blocked screen shown below. Enter your username/password at the Barracuda Login Prompt:

10 SYNCING TO ONEDRIVE Connecting your device to OneDrive will allow you to open, save and copy files as you would a flash drive. This streamlines the ability to work with documents on 365 while using your tablet. To connect to your OneDrive, complete the following steps: - Log into your 365 account ( using your MDSA and password - Click on the OneDrive icon

11 - Click the SYNC button towards the top left

12 - Select SYNC NOW - Click DO NOT SHOW ME THIS WARNING AGAIN and ALLOW

13 - Enter your MDS address - Select ORGANIZATIONAL ACCOUNT

14 - Log-in with your MDS and password, make sure the STAY SIGNED IN box is checked, and click SIGN IN - Click SYNC NOW. OneDrive will take a few minutes to sync depending on how many files you have. Once it is finished, you can click SHOW MY FILES to access your files - Now when browsing flies ONEDRIVE FOR BUSINESS will show up in your favorite locations - You can then select this location when opening, saving, copying, etc. You can also browse these files directly from your computer to open Documents without logging into the 365 website

23 Things to remember when sending an - is restricted to only allow you to send an within MDSA - Remember etiquette especially when sending an to a teacher!

24 MICROSOFT To log-in to your 365 account, go to - Sign in using your MDS and password - Once logged in, you can choose to use Word, PowerPoint, Excel, or OneNote online

25 - While working in Word, PowerPoint, Excel or OneNote, 365 automatically will save your files - You can also choose to save your file as a different name or download a copy of the document to your computer - To do this: - Click on FILE

26 - Then click SAVE AS - From there, you can choose to rename the file, or download a copy to your computer

27 - To share a file with other students and/or teachers - Click FILE and then SHARE

28 - Click on SHARE WITH PEOPLE

29 - A new screen will appear and prompt you to enter the addresses of the individual(s) you want to share your document with

30 WHERE DO I FIND SHARED DOCUMENTS? Once you are logged into 365, go to your OneDrive On the left hand side, click on SHARE WITH ME to access files/notebooks that have been shared with you A document will be shared FOREVER unless you go in and choose to stop sharing it

32 LanSchool is a classroom management program Once you have installed LanSchool, you should see the LanSchool icon in your System Tray/Clock area

33 CONNECTING TO A CLASSROOM Left click the LanSchool icon and select or enter the appropriate classroom number

34 ASKING THE TEACHER A QUESTION During class time, you may have a question that arises You can ask the teacher a question without disturbing the class by using LanSchool To do this: Right click on the LanSchool icon and select I HAVE A QUESTION
