1 How to install and Configure Adobe Media Live Encoder for HD broadcasting: Step 1 Go to Step 2 Towards the center of the page, click on the link to download Version 3 Step 3 An Adobe account is required to download the software. If you do not have an Adobe account, select No, I will create one now. If you have an existing Adobe account, enter the Adobe ID and password and click Continue. Skip to step 8. a. Enter your Address you would like to create the account with. b. Enter your Preferred Password c. Click Continue

2 Step 4 Fill in the required fields (denoted with an *): a. * Enter your preferred password b. * Re-Enter password c. * Type a password hint d. * Type First Name e. * Type Last Name f. * Select Country/Region g. * Add State/Province h. * Add Zip Code All other fields are optional and do not need to be filled in. Step 5 Scroll down to Communication preferences. Uncheck all the boxes if you do not want to recieve communications from Adobe about their products and services, or subscribe to the Adobe Edge newsletter.

3 Step 6 Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Continue Step 7 You may be prompted to verify the address if these fields were filled in. a. Select Use this address if it s not already selected under Standard Address. b. Click Continue Step 8 You will need to agree to the End User Agreement. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click I Agree.

4 Step 9 Download Flash Media Live Encoder 3 by clicking on the Download for Windows link Step 10 Internet Explorer users click on Save File. Step 11 Internet Explorer users - When the download is complete Run. Mozilla Firefox users When the download is complete, double click on the file titled flashmedialiveencoder-v301.msi

5 Step 12 Click Next on the first screen Step 13 Click on the radio button next to I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next. Step 14 Click the box next to Create Shortcuts. Click Next.

6 Step 15 On the next screen, click Install. Step 16 When the installation is complete, uncheck the box next to Show the readme file. Click Finish Congratulations! You have successfully installed Adobe Media Live Encoder 3. Continue to How to configure Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3.

7 How to configure Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3 (FMLE) Step 1 After the installation, Adobe FMLE will launch automatically. You can open the application at any time by clicking on the icon on their desktop Step 2 To start with the configuration of FMLE click on the drop down menu in the Preset field and change it to Custom Step 3 Check the box next to Video Step 4 Next to Device, make sure the correct web cam is selected from the drop down menu

8 Step 5 In the Format field, select VP6 from the drop down menu Step 6 Click on the tool icon next to Format:VP6. Select Keyfram frequency: 1 second (required). Step 7 In the Frame Rate section, select a value between (Maximum) and (Minimum). It s advisable to start with a value of however, this value can be set to as low as to improve the overall quality of the broadcast. The ideal setting is dependent on your PC hardware, software and bandwidth (connection speed to the internet).

9 Step 8 Select 640 x 480 (required) next to the Input Size section Step 9 In the Bit Rate section, make sure only 1 is checked and select a value between 500 and It is advisable to start with a value of 1000 however, this value can be set to as low as 500 to improve the overall quality of the broadcast. The ideal setting is dependent on your PC hardware, software and bandwidth (connection speed to the internet). Step 10 In the Output Size field, change the first box to 640. The second number will automatically adjust according to aspect ratio. The end result will be 640 x 480

10 Step 11 Check the box next to Deinterlace. The boxes next to Timecode and Crop should remain unchecked. Step 12 Under the Audio section, set the Sample Rate to Hz Step 13 Remove check mark next to Input Video and Audio on the right side of the menu for the preview settings Step 14 Check the box Auto Adjust which will check Drop Frames by default

11 Step 15 Remove the check mark for Save to File on the right side Step 16 Once the desired settings are achieved, click on File in the upper right corner. Click Save Profile Step 17 Name the file camsprofile and click Save. This allows will allow you to revert back to your custom settings that you have configured above. If you need to revert back to these custom settings, click on the File menu and select Open Profile. Click on camsprofile then click OK to restore your custom settings. Congratulations! You have successfully configured FMLE for cams.com.

12 All other fields in FMLE can be left at default value. A screen shot and summary has been provided below of what FMLE should look like after configuration. 1. Launch FMLE application 2. Preset: Custom 3. Make sure the Video box is checked 4. Device: Select the appropriate web cam from the drop down menu if not selected by default 5. Format: VP6 (do not use H.264 codec option. Although this codec allows for a better quality stream, it is not compatible with cams.com and may cause issues with it s features) 6. Click on the tool icon next to Format:VP6. Select Keyframe Frequency: 1 second (required). 7. Frame rate: (minimum 15) 8. Input size: 640x480 (required) 9. Bit Rate: between 500 Kbps 1000 Kbps 10. Output Size: 640x Check the box Deinterlace on the bottom right section. 12. Set the Audio Sample Rate to Hz 13. Remove check mark for Input Video and Audio on the right side of the menu for the preview settings 14. Check the box Auto Adjust which will check Drop Frames by default 15. Remove the check mark for Save to File on the right side. Note: You may be able to improve the picture quality of the broadcast by lowering the Frame Rate and/or Bit Rate to achieve the desired quality.
