3 Overview Overview This Guide describes the Philips-provided application for reviewing data exported from the Information Center. The Research Data Export Viewer allows a clinical operator to review basic patient information, waveforms, trends, and alarms. It also provides limited functionality for printing or exporting the data as a graphic image or.csv export in some cases. Warning The Research Data Export Viewer is for research purposes only and is not intended for patient care. The Research Data Export Viewer must be installed and run on a PC that is not running the Information Center product and applications and that meets the specified requirements (Table 1-1). Research Data Export Viewer has no safeguards to enforce HIPAA or other privacy standards; it is assumed that de-identification software (not Philips supplied) is applied to the files before viewing. Warning If the IntelliVue Information Center system clock is changed either manually or automatically, some export data may be lost. 3
4 Installing The Viewer Installing The Viewer Note Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 must be installed before you can run Research Data Export Viewer. The.NET Framework is a free download from microsoft.com. Step 1. Load the Research Data Export Viewer CD into the appropriate PC drive. Step 2. Use Windows Explorer to open setup.exe on the Research Data Export Viewer CD. Once the Research Data Export Viewer installation is complete, an RDE Viewer shortcut displays on the PC desktop. 4
5 Using The Research Data Export Viewer Starting Research Data Export Viewer Click the RDE Viewer shortcut on the PC desktop to start up the Research Data Export Viewer. or Go to Start > Programs > Philips Medical System > RDE Viewer. The initial Research Data Export Viewer screen opens. 1 Open Patient Directory permits selection of exported patient data. 2 Change Temp Directory permits setting a different location for the Research Data Export Viewer Temp Directory. 3 View Patient Info opens a popup with additional information, if available, for the selected patient. Information may include: Name, Medical Record Number, Gender, Date of Birth, Bed Label, Data Start Time, Data Length, Physician, and Test Reason. 4 Temp Directory shows the location that Research Data Export Viewer stores temporary files. Initially, this field is blank. 5 Temp Space Available shows how much free space is available in the temporary directory. 6 Select Patient opens the Research Data Export Viewer Waves Screen and displays the exported waveforms for the selected patient. 7 Research Data Export Viewer Menu Bar (Table 1-2) 5
6 Setting the Temp Directory Before you can use the viewer to access any patient data files you must create a temporary directory. If you try to select a patient before you create a temporary directory an error message displays, Please set a directory for temporary files. You can use Windows Explorer to create a location for the Temp Directory as follows. Step 1. Select a location/drive in the My Computer dialog and go to File >New >Folder. A folder icon appears in the selected location with the name, New Folder. Step 2. Type the desired folder name in the highlighted text box. Philips suggests that you use the folder name, Temp, and that there is approximately 100 Mb of available space. Changing the Temp Directory Step 1. On the initial Research Data Export Viewer screen click Change Temp Directory... A Browse For Folder dialog opens. Step 2. Select the Temp Directory location in the Browse For Folder dialog and click OK. or Step 3. To create a new folder for the Temp Directory select a location in the Browse For Folder dialog and click Make New Folder. A folder icon appears in the selected location with the name, New Folder. Step 4. To assign a folder name, right-click the folder and select Rename. Then type the desired folder name in the highlighted text box. Step 5. Click OK to close the Browse For Folder dialog. 6
7 Setting the Patient Directory Before you can use the Data Viewer to access patient data files you must create a patient directory. This folder must be shared and permissions for Network Users must be set to Read and Write. You can use Windows Explorer to create and share the patient data as follows. Step 1. Select a location/drive in the My Computer dialog and go to File > New > Folder. A folder icon appears in the selected location with the name, New Folder. Step 2. Type the desired folder name in the highlighted text box. Philips suggests that you use the folder name, PATDATA, and that there is approximately 100 Mb of available space. Step 3. Right click the PATDATA folder and select Properties from the drop-down menu. The PATDATA Properties dialog displays. Step 4. Select the General tab in the Properties dialog, then click the Read Only check box so there is no check. Step 5. Select the Sharing tab in the Properties dialog. a. Click the option button adjacent to Share this Folder. b. Type PATDATA in the Share Name text box. c. Click the Permissions button adjacent to the text, To set permissions for users who access this folder over the network, click Permissions. d. Set permissions so that network users have open permissions to the PATDATA share. Step 6. Select the Security tab in the Properties dialog, then set permissions so that the designated user has WRITE permissions. Step 7. Click OK to close the Properties dialog box when complete. 7
8 Opening the Patient Directory Use Research Data Export Viewer to access the exported patient data as follows. Step 1. Click Open Patient Directory..., or go to File > Open Patient Directory... from the menu bar. A Browse For Folder dialog opens. Step 2. Select the exported data location in the Browse For Folder dialog and click OK. The location and folder name of the exported patient data is typically defined at the Information Center DBS Config Wizard Network Configuration page when you add a Research Data Export device. A Census List populates the Research Data Export Viewer so you can select patients whose data you want to review. Viewing Patient Information The Census List contains the following information for the all of the patients included in the export file (if the patient data record includes it). If the field information is not available in the export file, the field is blank. Patient Name Medical Record Number (MRN) Gender Bed Label Data Start Time: Physician 8
9 If you want to view the demographic information for a particular patient on the list: Step 1. Click the desired patient on the Research Data Export Viewer Census List so the patient name is highlighted. Step 2. Click View Patient Info... The Patient Information dialog displays. Step 3. Click the dialog close button to return to the census list. Sorting the List You can sort the Census List by any of the categories by clicking on the column heading. You can sort the list in ascending or descending order. When you click the column heading you wish to sort the list by, the list sorts in ascending order. If you want the list to sort in descending order, click the column heading again. 9
10 Viewing Exported Data To open the Research Data Export Viewer Waves Screen for a particular patient, you must: Step 1. Click the desired patient on the Research Data Export Viewer Census List so the row is highlighted. Step 2. Click Select Patient. The Research Data Export Viewer Waves Screen displays the exported waveforms for the selected patient. Waves Tools The Research Data Export Viewer Waves Screen has a Waves area that displays up to four of the selected patient s waveforms. All of the patient s waveforms display by default with each waveform occupying one row. You can choose the Waves you want to view by clicking the check box next to the lead label. If the box has a check mark the waveform displays; with no check the waveform does not display. From the Research Data Export Viewer Waves Screen you can display a Tool Panel which can be set as: Alarm Tool, Zoom Tool, Trend Tool, or No Tool (default). You can choose which Tool you would like to display by clicking the adjacent option button. If you do not want the Tool Panel to display, select No Tool. The Alarm and Zoom tools display at the bottom of the Waves Screen; the Trend Tool displays at the top of the screen. 10
11 A description of the Research Data Export Viewer Waves Screen selections follows. Selection Description Permits selection of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 Rows (height) that each waveform occupies Opens a standard Print dialog to print the data Opens a dialog box to export the displayed data as an image to another directory/file Closes the Research Data Export Viewer Waves Screen and returns to the Census Screen Opens a Patient Information dialog that displays additional patient information Shows the current Start/End time of the data collection period and permits entry of a desired start or end time to change the time focus Permits selection of 1 minute, 6 minutes, 12 minutes, 30 minutes, or 60 minutes of displayed waveform data Permits selection of the Waves you want to view Permits selection of the Tool you want to use in the Tool Panel 11
12 Using Research Data Export Viewer Menu Selections Menu selections for Patient Data, other than View Patient Info, are only active from the patient s Waves screen. This is also true for the Tools menu selections. Table 1-2 Research Data Export Viewer Menu Selections Menu Selection Description Possible Settings File Open Patient Directory... Opens a Patient Information dialog that displays additional patient information Permits selection/deselection of displayed waveforms Click the checkbox to display the waveform; to uncheck the box, click it again. When there is no check in the box the waveform does not display. Permits selection of the number of rows (height) that each waveform occupies Click the down-arrow and select the desired setting. Available selections depend on the waveform data stored for the patient. All waves are selected as the default. 1 Row (default), 2 Rows, 3 Rows, 4 Rows, 5 Rows, 6 Rows Permits setting a desired Start/End time to change the time focus 1. Click the menu selection to display the Jump to Time dialog. Duration Print 2. Click the down-arrow and select the desired settings. 3. Click Set. Permits selection of waveform duration to be displayed from a pull-down list Opens a standard Print dialog to print the data 1 minute, (default) 6 minutes, 12 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes 12

Supported formats are:.bmp,.gif,.jpg (default),.png,.tiff Close Closes the Waves Screen and returns to the Census Screen Tools Permits selection and display of a Tool Panel at the bottom of the Research Data Export Viewer Waves Screen No Tool (default) Alarm Tool Zoom Tool Trend Tool Using the Alarm Tool The Alarm Tool displays all alarms in the exported data for the selected patient. The scrollable list shows Alarm Name, Time, and Priority. The list can be sorted by clicking on the column headings. When you double-click an alarm and it is within the duration of waves displayed in the top section of the screen, the corresponding time region of the alarm is indicated in the waveform at the top of the screen. 13

Permits selection of the actual alarms you wish to display Click the desired alarm from the pull-down list. The list contains alarms contained in the patient s data. Permits display of the selected alarm condition waveform in the top section of the Waves Screen 1. Select an alarm in the Alarm Tool Panel. 2. Click Jump to Alarm. Permits export of the alarms into a.csv (comma separated value) data file Alarms exported are only those currently displayed in the Alarm Tool Panel. Any Priority (default) High (red) Medium (yellow) Any Alarm (default) (Actual selection list depends on alarms that are included in patient data.) 14
15 Using the Zoom Tool The Zoom Tool displays a 10-second segment of the displayed waveform from the waveform start time. The strip displayed in the Zoom Tool is highlighted in the top section of the Waves Screen (see arrow). You can double click any area of the strip in the top section of the Waves Screen and the selected 10-second segment will display at the bottom of the screen. If you want to change the Start or End time: 1. Click the adjacent button to display the Jump to Time dialog. 2. Click the down-arrow and select the desired settings. 3. Click Set. 16
17 Using the Trend Tool The Trend Tool displays parameter data in either Graphic or Tabular View. When you first open the Trend Tool the default view is Tabular. In Graphic View the patient s first two parameters display with trend scales optimally set and with the start time of the displayed waveform data. If you double-click within the Graphical area at the top the screen, the waveform data collected in that time period will display in a wave strip at the bottom section of the screen. In Tabular View the Viewer displays all of the patient s trends in 5-Minute interval columns. If you double-click within a time column in the top section of the screen, the waveform data collected in that time period will display in a wave strip at the bottom section of the screen. (Graphic View only) If you want to change the parameter scale from Optimal to User- Defined: 1. Click the adjacent button to display the Set Trend Scale dialog. 2. Click the option button next to User-Defined. 3. Type the desired Maximum and Minimum Value in the adjacent text box. 4. Click Set. Shows the current Start/End time of the data collection period and permits entry of a desired start or end time to change the time focus If you want to change the start or end time: 1. Click the adjacent button to display the Jump to Time dialog. 2. Click the down-arrow and select the desired settings. 3. Click Set. Opens a standard Print dialog to print the data 18
