1 Lab 4: Pass the Data Streams to a Match Processor and Define a Match Rule In this lab you will feed both the data records and the error records to a match processor and define a match rule. At the end of this lab your process will look like this: It is important to understand that all you are going to do at the moment is to match the incoming data records with the error records that you have created. You are not yet going to publish alerts to Case Management. Further preparatory work is required first, and you will undertake this in subsequent labs. Note that this lab does not aim to teach you the fundamental principles of how to configure EDQ s matching processors. This topic is covered in a separate training module called Match Processor Configuration. In order to fully understand this lab, you should first complete the Match Processor Configuration training module. Wire Up the Advanced Match Processor and Select its Inputs 1. In the Tool Palette, on the right-side of the screen, click to select the Matching family of processors, and then drag the Advanced Match processor onto the Canvas. 1. Connect the output port of the Reader to the Advanced Match processor s Working Data port. 2. The Advanced Match dialog will open. Click to select all of the Available Attributes from the PARTS table. Page 1 of 6

2 3. Deselect the Compare against self checkbox and click OK to close the Advanced Match dialog. 4. At the bottom of the Canvas, click the Process tab to return to the process. 5. Connect the Merged port from the Merge Data Streams processor that you renamed Rename Data Stream to 'Error' (Merge Data Streams) to the Advanced Match processor s Reference Data port. 6. Double-click to open the Advanced Match processor s Input sub-processor. 7. Navigate to the Error tab and then click to select all of the Available Attributes from the Error data stream. Page 2 of 6

3 8. Click OK to close the dialog. 9. At the bottom of the Canvas, click the Process tab to return to the process. Both the Reader and the Merge Data Streams processor should now be connected to the Advanced Match processor, as in the screenshot below: Note that the Advanced Match processor is shaded red because it is not yet configured to a point at which it can be run. Configuring the Identifier 1. On the Canvas, double-click the Advanced Match processor to open it. 2. Double click the Identify icon to open the Identify dialogue. 1. Click + to open the Add Identifier dialogue. Add a Name of UNIQUEID. 2. Leave the Type set to String and click OK to exit the Add Identifier dialogue. 3. Click the dropdown below PARTS Table and select the UNIQUEID attribute. 4. Click the dropdown below Error and select the UNIQUEID attribute. 5. Click OK to close the Identify dialog. Configure a UNIQUEID Cluster 1. The Advanced Match processor should already be open on the canvas. If it isn t, double click it to open it. 2. Double click the Cluster icon to open the Cluster dialogue. Page 3 of 6

4 3. Click + and enter a Cluster Name of UNIQUEID Cluster. 4. Click Add Identifier to open the Add Identifiers dialogue. You should see the identifier that you added above. Select the UNIQUEID identifier and click OK. 5. Click OK to close the Cluster dialogue. Configure a Comparison 1. Unless the Advanced Match processor is already open on the canvas, double click it to open it. 2. Double click the Match icon to open the Match dialogue. 3. In the Comparison tab select the UNIQUEID identifier. Then click Add Comparison. 4. Enter a Comparison Name of UNIQUEID (Primary key) Exact and select a Comparison Type of Exact String Match. 5 5. Leave all of the other options set to their default values. Add a Match Rule 1. In the Match dialogue, navigate to the Match Rules tab. 2. Click + in the bottom left-hand corner of the dialogue (do not click the + under Match Rule Groups). 3. Enter a Rule Name of UNIQUEID (Primary Key) Exact. 4. Select a Decision of Match. 5. Under Comparison Configuration, select a Value of true for UNIQUEID (Primary key) Exact. Page 5 of 6

6 6. Click OK to close the dialog. Run the Process 1. In the Canvas, navigate to the Process tab. 2. In the toolbar at the top of the canvas, click to run your process. 3. In the canvas, single-click the Advanced Match processor. 4. In the Results Browser, navigate to the Rules tab and examine the results. You should find that 122 relationships have been formed. Each of these relationships links an error record with a data record via the UNIQUEID, which is the primary key of the PARTS table. Since there are 122 error records, and each one is linked to a data record, there are also 122 relationships. Page 6 of 6
