3 Part : What is Resource Centre? Part : What is Resource Centre? Resource Centre is where all resources developed by both Pearson and individual users are stored. Teachers and users can search for and locate any of these resources in the Resource Centre using our user-friendly search engine or filter mechanism. Teachers are also able to create interactive resources using easy-to-use resources builders in this section and add personalised teaching resources to their lessons.
4 Part : Where can I find downloadable materials? Part : Where can I find downloadable materials? In addition to online resources, we also offer a great variety of downloadable materials on iteach. Teachers can go to Graded Materials Bank under Categories to download worksheets, PowerPoint presentations and many more. These resources are in editable Word or PowerPoint format for you to prepare materials to cater for learner diversity. In addition, all materials are organised according to Book Series, Books and Chapters, making it easy for users to locate useful resources. Inside the Categories section, teachers will also find a quick link to Picture Bank, where tons of pictures can be downloaded for creating teaching resources. Reference Toolbox provides links to more external teaching resources and materials.
5 Part : How do I search for resources? Part : How do I search for resources? Teachers and users can go to Search Resources to search for resources developed by both Pearson and individual users. In this section, teachers are able to preview and add selected resources to specific classes.. Searching by keyword Step Go to Resource Centre > Search Resources. Step Type the keyword(s) into the text box and click the search button. Step The total number of search results is shown on the top right hand corner. Click > to go to next page(s). Step To open a selected resource, click the title or the thumbnail. Step 5 To add resources to Preparation, read the section on. Adding resources to Preparation.
6 Part : How do I search for resources?. Searching by criteria Step Go to Resource Centre > Search Resources. Step On the left panel, select Book Series, Book, Chapter and so on to filter resources. Step To remove any criteria from your search, click the Remove preference on top of the result table. button Step To open a selected resource, click the title or the thumbnail. 7 Part : How do I search for resources?. Adding resources to Preparation Step Click and select the resource(s) you want. Step Click Add to Preparation. 6 Step Choose the desired class(es). Step You may also choose the book and chapter you want the resources to be included in or add the resource to an existing / new Interactive Lesson folder (optional). Step 5 Click Add button to complete. Step 6 Alternatively, you can assign resources through the Details page on the search results table. 5 6
8 Part : How do I create resources?. Flash Card Modify existing or create new theme-based flash cards... Modifying existing Flash Card Step Go to Resource Centre > Create Resources > Flash Card. Step - Select the set of Flash Card that you want to modify. Click Customise. 7
9 Step - Edit the title and colour of font as necessary, then click Next. Note: The existing layout (picture on front and text / audio on back in this case) is highlighted. You are recommended NOT to change the existing layout; otherwise existing data could be lost. Step Click on any of the cards that you want to modify. Simply change the contents as desired. You can also add new cards (up to 0) by clicking the add button click the delete button. Click Preview to proceed.. To delete a card, 8
10 Step 5 You can preview the Flash Card here. To save the cards, click Next. To go back and edit the cards, click Back. Step 6 Give the modified Flash Card a description, and choose the level and focus suitable for the cards. Click Save. NOTE: Specifying the level and focus enables users to search for the resource more easily. 9
11 Step 7 Change or modify the Resource Name to distinguish the modified set of Flash Card from the original one. Select the classes that can have access to the cards. Then either save the cards under the Book Resources section or the Interactive Lessons section. When saving under the Interactive Lessons section, choose the appropriate level and then save it to either an existing folder or a new one. Click Save to complete. 5 0
12 Step 8 To locate the Flash Card you have just created, go to Resource Centre > Create Resources > Flash Card. Select Created by Myself under the pull-down menu to view a list of modified cards. Alternatively, you can also find the modified Flash Card under either the Book Resources or the Interactive Lessons section where you have specified in Step 7.
13 .. Creating new Flash Card: Step Go to Resource Centre > Create Resources > Flash Card. Step Click the Create new button.
14 Step Enter a title and choose the colour of font. Select your preferred layout and then click Next. Step Click the Add a new card button to create extra cards (up to 0). Edit the contents of each card by adding an image, audio file or text. Delete any cards by clicking the Delete button. Click Preview to proceed.
15 Step 5 Click Back to go back and edit the cards or click Next to save the cards. Step 6 - Give the Flash Card a description, and choose the level and focus. Then click Save. NOTE: Specifying the level and focus enables users to search for the resource more easily.
16 Step 7 Enter a Resource Name for the new Flash Card. Select the classes that can have access to the cards. Then either save the cards under the Book Resources section or the Interactive Lessons section. When saving under the Interactive Lessons section, choose the appropriate level and then save it to either an existing folder or a new one. Click Save to complete. 5 5
17 Step 8 To locate the Flash Card you have just created, go to Resource Centre > Create Resources > Flash Card. Select Created by Myself under the pull-down menu to view a list of cards created or modified by you. _Version Alternatively, you can also find the new Flash Card under either the Book Resources or the Interactive Lessons section where you have specified in Step 7. 6
18 . Game Builder Create or modify fun and interactive games for teaching and reinforcement. You can choose among Grouping, Re-ordering or Matching Game: Grouping Game players drag and drop items into correct groups. Re-ordering Game players re-arrange words (or sentences) to form sentences (or paragraphs). Matching Game players match correct pairs of words / text / audio... Modifying existing games: Step - Go to Resource Centre > Create Resources > Game Builder. 7
19 Step of 8 - Select the game that you want to modify, then click Customise. Step Grouping Game: Edit the title, instructions and time limit preference. Click Next to continue. NOTE: The existing layout (picture only in this case) is highlighted. You are recommended NOT to change the existing layout; otherwise existing data could be lost. 8
20 Re-ordering Game: Edit the title and instructions as necessary. Click Next to continue. NOTE: The existing type of re-ordering (re-arrange sentences to form a paragraph in this case) is highlighted. You are recommended NOT to change the existing layout; otherwise existing data could be lost. Matching Game: Edit the title and instructions as necessary. Click Next to continue. NOTE: The existing layout (text only in this case) is highlighted. You are recommended NOT to change the existing layout; otherwise existing data could be lost. 9
21 Step Grouping Game: Click on the group that you want to modify. You can create more groups (up to 5) or delete any unwanted ones. Modify the contents within a group by changing the contents, adding a new item or deleting any items as necessary. Click Preview to proceed. 5 6 Re-ordering Game: Edit the question as necessary. Use a slash to separate sentences (or words). You can also add questions (up to 0) or delete any unwanted ones. Click Preview to proceed. 0
22 Matching Game: Edit the question as necessary. You can also add more pairs (up to 5) or delete any unwanted ones. Click Preview to proceed. Step 5 You can try the game in this preview. Click Back to go back and edit the game, or click Next to save game.
23 Step 6 Give the game a description and choose the level and focus for it. Click Save to complete. NOTE: Specifying the level and focus enables users to search for the resource more easily. 28 Step Grouping Game: Add as many groups as you want (up to 5) by clicking the Add a new group button. Then within a group, add related items (up to 5) by clicking the Add a new item button. Enter text and/or upload a picture or audio file. Delete any unwanted groups or items using the Delete button. Click Preview to proceed. Re-ordering Game: Enter a sentence (or paragraph) in the question box. Add a slash between (groups of) words or sentences to break them apart. Example : I/ am/ a/ boy/. Example : There are many hotels in Hong Kong./ There are also plenty of shopping malls. You can add up to 0 questions by clicking the Add a new question button any questions using the Delete button. Click Preview to proceed.. Delete 7
29 Matching Game: Add as many pairs as you want (up to 5) by clicking the Add a new pair button. Then within each pair, edit the contents by adding a picture, audio file or text. Delete any unwanted pairs using the Delete button. Click Preview to proceed. 8
30 Step 5 - You can try the game in this preview. Click Back to go back and edit the game, or click Next to save game. 9
31 Step 6 Give the game a description and choose the level and focus for it. Click Save to complete. NOTE: Specifying the level and focus enables users to search for the resource more easily. 33 . Pop Quiz Set up pop quizzes using videos, audio or text to add excitement to classes... Creating new Pop Quiz: Step Go to Resource Centre > Create Resources > Pop Quiz. Step Click the Create new button.
34 Step Enter a title and instructions for the Pop Quiz. Select the question type and page layout (Passage, Image, Audio or Video layout). Click Next to proceed. 5 Step Video Layout: Users can upload a video to the Pop Quiz through YouTube.com. First, upload or select a video clip from YouTube.com. Click Share below the video and copy the link under Link to this video.
35 Step 5 Video Layout: Go back to the Pop Quiz window and paste the link into the Video box. Passage / Image / Audio Layout: Enter text or upload an image or audio file to the box on the left. Add questions (up to 0) by clicking the Add a new question button. Enter the question in the question box and answers underneath it. For MC mode, tick the correct answer. Also set the number of chances players can have for each question. Delete any unwanted questions using the Delete button. Click Preview to proceed
36 Step 6 Preview the Pop Quiz here. Click Back to go back and edit the game contents or Next to save the quiz. Step 7 Give the Pop Quiz a description and choose the level and focus. Click Save to complete. NOTE: Specifying the level and focus enables users to search for the resource more easily. 5
37 Step 8 Give the Pop Quiz a Resource Name. Select the classes that can have access to the quiz. Then either save the game under the Book Resources section or the Interactive Lessons section. When saving under the Interactive Lessons section, choose the appropriate level and then save it to either an existing folder or a new one. Click Save to complete. 5 6
38 Step 9 To locate the Pop Quiz you have just created, go to Resource Centre > Create Resources > Pop Quiz. Select Created by Myself under the pull-down menu to view a list of quizzes created by you. Alternatively, you can also find the Pop Quiz under either the Book Resources or the Interactive Lessons section where you have specified in Step 8. 7
39 . Mind Map Brainstorm and organise ideas with the class using the Mind Map tool... Modifying existing Mind Map: Step Go to Resource Centre > Create Resources > Mind Map. Step Choose the Mind Map that you want to modify and click Customise. 8
40 Step Edit topic for the Mind Map as you see fit. You can also add addition information such as name and class (optional). Change the outline mode (branch or layout) as you wish. Step Click on a bubble to edit text. Clicking a bubble will also bring up the editing panel which you can use to change the bubble colour, font colour, font size and connect bubbles together or delete any unwanted ones. Also click on a bubble to add a new one; the icon pointing downwards adds a bubble in the next tier. The icon pointing sideways adds a new bubble in the same tier. 9
41 Step 5 You can click and drag bubbles to organise your Mind Map. You can click the Undo button to clear the last action, or click the Eraser button to clear the entire Mind Map. Click the zoom in and zoom out button to adjust your viewing setting. When you are done, you can choose to print or export the Mind Map to jpg or png. To save the Mind Map, click the Save button
