1 Getting started with Proloquo2Go for Apple Watch Requirements Note that you need watchos 2 or later on your Apple Watch and ios 9 or later on your iphone to have access to Proloquo2Go for Apple Watch, and watchos 3 to use text-to-speech output on your watch. Set up your Apple Watch To get started with your Apple Watch, pair and sync it with your iphone. For more information, please see: HT2040 Choose a mode for Apple Watch Once you open Proloquo2Go on your Apple Watch, you will be given two options: Use as Switch or Use for Communication. Mode 1: Use a switch Choose use a switch to turn your Apple Watch into a switch for Proloquo2Go on your iphone. Launch Proloquo2Go on your iphone and go to the Grid view. A blue button with the word Scan below will appear on your Apple Watch. Tap on it to start scanning on your iphone. To adjust scanning configuration and more, please see page 2 of this tutorial. Mode 2: Use for communication Choose use for communication to build short sentences or select phrases. For more information, please see page 3 of this tutorial. Switch modes at any time Note that you can change the mode you are in at anytime in the Options of Proloquo2Go on your iphone, in the Watch Options section. 2 Mode 1: Use as a switch Basic Use: In Proloquo2Go on your Apple Watch you can start scanning by tapping the blue Scan button on Apple Watch. It will turn into a green Switch button once active. Tap Switch to start the scanning process and each time you want to make a selection. To quit scanning, use Force Touch. Configuration: Access the Options In Proloquo2Go on your iphone tap the Tools button (a grid of four squares) on the bottom left of the toolbar, and then tap Options. Select use a switch mode In the Options, scroll down to the Watch Options section. Tap Mode, and select Use as a switch. (You do not need to do this if you have chosen this mode when you first launched Proloquo2Go on your Apple Watch) Access Method - Switch Access configuration In the Options, go to Access Method and turn ON Scanning. 3 Mode 2: Use for communication - Basic Use Basic Use: Turn OFF Wake Screen on Wrist Raise Open the Settings app on Apple Watch, go to General, then Wake Screen, and turn OFF Wake Screen on Wrist Raise so Apple Watch will not dim when turning your wrist to show the message in Proloquo2Go to your communication partner. Access Phrases and Sentence Builder on Apple Watch To switch between Phrases and Sentence Builder on Apple Watch you need to use Force Touch. Phrases: Turn the Digital Crown to scroll down through the preprogrammed phrases, tap on the phrase to display it full screen and upside-down. Sentence Builder: Tap on the symbol pickers and pick from of a number of included sentence starters combined with various nouns or adjectives from over 10 categories. Turn the Digital Crown to scroll down through each of the symbol pickers to build the sentence. Tap on the Message Window to display the sentence. Displaying and speaking your message When a sentence is selected it will be displayed full screen and upside-down so that it is easy to read for the communication partner when you flick your wrist in their direction. The message will be spoken automatically. To speak the message again, tap anywhere on the watch screen. To go back to form a new message, tap the back button on the upper left corner of the watch. 4 Mode 2: Use for communication - Configuration Configuration: Apple Watch language Make sure to set the language that you would like to use on Apple Watch. To do so, open Apple Watch companion app on the paired iphone, tap General, tap Language & Region, and under the System Language section select your desired language Configure Proloquo2Go for Apple Watch In the Apple Watch companion app on your phone, scroll down the list of installed apps to Proloquo2Go. Here you can set whether text is displayed upside down or right side up, whether the watch will speak aloud, and which voice the watch will use. You can pick which of the Apple-supplied voices are used for each language. The Acapela voices used on your iphone are not available on Apple Watch. Select use for communication mode In Proloquo2Go on the iphone tap the Tools button (a grid of four squares) on the bottom left of the toolbar, and then tap Options. In the Options, scroll down to the Watch Options section. Tap Mode, and select Use for communication. 5 Mode 2: Use for communication - Customization Customization: Select Apple Watch user In the Options, go to User, and you will see that a new user has been created: Apple Watch English, Apple Watch Spanish, or Apple Watch French. Tap on this new user to customize the pre-programmed phrases as well as the sentence builder. Customize Phrases and Sentence Builder Go to Edit Mode, tap the pencil icon in the bottom toolbar. Now you can edit the phrases, sentence starters and categories that will be shown on Apple Watch.
