2 P a g e 2 Proloquo 2 Go Setting Up GEAR - SETTING BUTTON CUSTOMIZATION STUDENT SPECIFIC 1. Press the Setting Button (gear) 2. Press User

3 P a g e 3 Press Add User User Name type your student s name Vocabulary choose basic vocabulary or core vocabulary Basic Vocabulary this is the vocabulary designed for those who are just beginning to use AAC to express their basic needs. Core Vocabulary for users requiring a larger vocabulary SAVE Tap anywhere on the screen to get to the board

6 P a g e 6 Now it should look like this. Press Add Folder then New Folder Now it looks like this. Folder Type student s name Press Tap to Edit Choose a Symbol - Choose a Picture - Take a Picture (discussion around options)

7 P a g e 7 Symbol search To add a symbol, type in a key word to search. You may need to get creative on this (think synonyms or other things that look like what you are looking for) Symbol appears, rename your folder to your student s name Background colour this will make your student s folder stand out

8 P a g e 8 Pick your colour scheme Pick your colour USING TOP LEFT HAND ARROW/BUTTON GO BACK BACK BACK ETC. UNTIL YOU ARE BACK TO YOUR ORIGINAL SCREEN; SCROLL DOWN AND YOU SHOULD SEE YOUR STUDENT

9 P a g e 9 DOUBLE CLICK YOUR STUDENT TO OPEN You should be on a blank screen.

10 P a g e 10 EXPANDING THE STUDENT S FOLDER WITH FOLDERS (basic instructions) Starting with the student s folder. Add folder Add New Folder Now it looks like this. Folder Type home Press Tap to Edit Choose a Symbol - Choose a Picture (if there is a photo of your student s house - Take a Picture (parent) ** Press Done

11 P a g e 11 Looks like this. Use some empty buttons as spacers (optional) Instructions for adding empty buttons: Add Button Done (we will do this twice for two empty buttons) Now it looks like this. Press done

12 P a g e 12 COPY AND PASTE TO ADD A FOLDER Press Back to get to the home page Press edit (pencil)

15 P a g e 15 Customizing and Adding more Vocabulary Double Click on School Now it looks like this. There are already some folders to work with. Open them up and see what is inside. To return to this screen press back from of these folders.

16 P a g e 16 We can add more folders. For example, books. Press edit (pencil) to get started. Press Add Folder. And then New Folder

17 P a g e 17 Type in Book; Select the symbol you want. Text to Speak what you want the voice to say type book Label of Folder I changed to books, because in the folder will be different books Done Double click on Books to open that file.

18 P a g e 18 Press Add Buttons if you want the button to ask for a book. Another option is to Add a Folder and within the next folder, have the board available for the child to tell you the story. Make a Folder which would work for your student.

19 P a g e 19 Cutting Folders and Buttons Select the file or button that you want to delete. A checkmark will go on it. Press Delete. Once you press delete it will be gone. If you want it back you will have to reconstruct it.

20 P a g e 20 Different Layers what are they and what are they for? There are three layers. The first layer is the one that stores the primary vocabulary. In some cases there are symbols in the second and storage layer. For example shapes: There is nothing in the secondary layer but there is in the storage layer. If you wanted to add one to the primary layer just select the button and tap move to primary Alternatively, if you aren t using a symbol but think you might in the future, rather than deleting it, you might want to Move to Storage.

21 P a g e 21 Making Your Student s Main Page the Home Page This section will show you how to make the student s screen the home page. This is a nice way to gradually build vocabulary for some students. For other students, you will want them to have access to greater vocabulary so you would leave the home screen as is, and simply have this folder ready to access from there. Press the Setting button. Press Vocabulary

22 P a g e 22 Select your student s folder as the Home Folder Use Root as Home is set to OFF (note: in edit mode you will want this on as it will give you access to the home folder if you want to use copy and paste. Now, when your student is on other pages within his/her file, she can get back to her home page simply by touching the house (home) button at the bottom of the screen.

24 P a g e 24 Accessibility: It is now possible to lock your student on a specific App by disabling the home button and parts of the screen using the Accessibility feature. There is a video describing this new feature for the ipad: Specific to Proloquo2Go: Press the Settings button.

25 P a g e 25 Press General Scroll Down of the Right Column until you see Accessibility near the bottom. Turn Guided Access on (it will prompt you for a pass code (set Pass Code) write it down, this is how you control whether the feature is enabled or disabled)

27 P a g e 27 Go Back to Proloquo2Go Triple click the home button at the bottom of the ipad. This is not the Proloquo2Go Home button. Circle the parts of the board you do not want the student to have access to: On this one I selected Edit and Settings. Depending on your student, you may want to include the Screen View and/or Keyboard. Click the home button once to get back to your regular view. Now it will looke like this.
