2 What is Respondus? Respondus is a Windows-based authoring tool that makes it easy to create and manage exams within a Learning Management System (LMS) - LEO as used at Australian Catholic University. Installation To install the Campus-wide version of the Respondus software on your computer, you will need to place a request to Service Desk via servicedesk@acu.edu.au or Phone Our license DOES permit you to install a copy of the Respondus software on a home computer. However, please note that you are not permitted to provide the Respondus software or the password information to anyone who is not affiliated with our institution. Such an action is a violation of our licensing agreement with Respondus and is also illegal. System Requirements for Operating System Windows Vista, XP, ME, 2000, 98 Apple Macintosh users can run Respondus using Windows emulation software such as Microsoft's Virtual PC. Memory 32 MB RAM minimum Hard Disk Space 10 MB of free hard disk space for program files Monitor 800x600 minimum (1024x768 recommended) Download Time The file size is approximately 10 MB, which should take less than two minutes to download with a standard Internet connection.

4 Connecting to your unit Before you can connect Respondus to your unit, you MUST have a Respondus file open. From the Start tab, select open and locate your file. To create a new Respondus file, select Create and then give your file a name and a description. Now you are ready to create a connection to your unit. Click on the Preview & Publish tab Click on the Publish to Moodle option from the left hand menu Select the Publish Wizard button Select the Publish to single course radio button From the Moodle Server drop down list, select the -add new server- option Make sure the Radio button Yes, check for preconfigured server settings is select. Select Next

5 Give your connection a name, such as MyLEO. You will select this name from a list each time you upload a quiz. Enter your ACU Username and Password in the space provided. Tick Save my Username and Password that way you won t have to do this again. Select Skip connection test Your connection is now created a saved. Each time you select the Publish Wizard option, you should now see the connection you created listed in the Moodle Server drop down list. Select this from the list.

6 For option 1 Choose Course to Publish to select the unit from the drop down list where you want to publish to quiz For option 2, Specify Question Category, in the space next to create a new category you should see the name of the file you currently have opened. By default, the name of the file will appear in this box. If you want to update an existing quiz, select it from dropdown list next to Use and existing category For option 3. Create or update an assessment (optional), make sure there is a tick in the checkbox Create/replace Quiz. In the space next to Create Quiz it should have the name of the file you have opened. Select a section from the dropdown list. Leave the other settings as they are. Click Next.

7 Respondus will upload the exam to the selected location on LEO. When the message completed successfully is returned, Click Finish. Go to LEO unit and view the quiz.
