1 Instructions for use of the handle version: Intratone access control Presentation of the Intratone handle The Intratone handle is specially designed to fit secondary doors inside buildings: access to cellars, car parks, stairways, bicycle storage, etc. It controls an electric mortise lock: - The lock bolt is drawn back when an authorised key is detected. - When the door closes, the bolt returns to the locked position. This mortise lock includes a cut-out for a European-format cylinder in order to use all the standard models on the market: European key-operated cylinder, lever-model for unrestricted exit, etc. It provides a totally secure access-controlled solution: remote cancellation of the key, self-learning. The electronic keys are managed using the website. Access, on the secure side, is controlled using an authorised electronic key from the Intratone range or a mechanical key. To leave, from the non-secured side, you simply press the exit button or use the lever on the European cylinder (if installed). The door may also be temporarily unlocked during an unrestricted access period. This door handle can be configured using the Intratone PPT (Portable Programming Terminal). 2 How is the door opened? Handle without a reader: Unrestricted exit = Open Handle with a reader: Secure access then = Open Handle with a reader: Unrestricted access (*) = Open Press the "Exit" PB Door opens Press the "Wake-up" PB Activation of the handle You have five seconds to pass a key in front of the reader head Door opens Press the "Wake-up" PB Door opens *: During the times defined as unrestricted-access timeslots (see below) How do you know when the batteries need changing? When the Intratone door handle detects low battery power, it reacts as follows: It delays opening the door for 4 seconds and emits 5 beeps of its buzzer. This makes using the door handle "unpleasant" in order to make users aware that they need to draw attention to this issue. This scenario takes place well before the batteries are completely empty. The handle can still open several thousand times (out of a total of 140,000). What does it mean when the indicator on the reader blinks? The indicator on the reader blinks when you press the pushbutton. Several different blinks are possible: Slow blinking Permanently on Rapid blinking Very rapid blinking You have five seconds to pass an electronic key in front of the reader or to present a Portable Programming Terminal (PPT). When the door is unlocked following an authorised key being read. The key is not authorised to open the door (access not authorised or outside unrestricted access times). Installation phase (see below). NB: When passing a key in front of the reader head, the indicator status does not change, which can mean that: - It is not an electronic key in the Intratone range. - You have not pressed the "Wake-up" button before using the key. What does the buzzer mean? 1 Beep On power being applied to the handle. 2 Beeps The bolt is stuck or has not been completely drawn back. 5 Beeps Low batteries. 10 Beeps Door forced open Page 2

3 Functional test of the Intratone handle Before commissioning using an installation key, the Intratone handle remains in a test phase in order to enable you to check the installation. During this phase, the handle triggers the opening of the door following presentation of a (programmed or new) Intratone key in front of the reader. Configuring the handle using a Portable Terminal The Portable Programming Terminal (PPT) is used to configure the INTRATONE handles directly by using the reader on the handle. There is therefore no need for a specific connection or dismantling in order to program it. The terminal is fitted with the items shown below: Bidirectional reader interface Power on/off button Press this key for 3 seconds RS232 interface for connection with a PC NB: If power is applied to the terminal but it remains inactive for several minutes (from 2 to 10 minutes depending on the operating mode at the time), it will automatically power off. Smart card reader This has two different operating modes depending on whether it has established a dialogue with a central unit (via the reader on the handle) or whether it is used in standby mode. In standby mode (no communication with the handle has taken place), the screen on the terminal displays information on its operating status. This mode enables communication to be established with the handle or configuration of terminal-specific parameters. In this mode, the first line on the Terminal screen displays the following continuously: - INTRATONE -. In handle dialogue mode, the terminal screen displays information from the handle (date, time, version of embedded program). This mode enables you to manage the handle's parameters (password modification, etc.). In this mode, the first line on the terminal screen shows the date and time on the handle. Behaviour of Terminal in configuration mode When selecting menus/sub-menus, the keys on the keypad have the following meanings: Previous Menu/Sub-menu Next Menu/Sub-menu Cancel: return to previous menu/return to standby mode Validate: Displays sub-menu/data Pressing any other key has no effect! When entering data, the keys on the keypad have the following meanings: Previous Selection/Letter Next Selection/Letter Moves cursor Cancel: Current screen Validate: Data displayed Pressing another key enables data entry! 4 Connecting to the INTRATONE door handle using a Portable Terminal 1. Use a PPT 2. Press the On/Off button for 3 seconds then press any key on the keypad. 3. The "CONNECTION TO A CENTRAL UNIT" menu appears. 4. Validate by pressing the key on the PPT. 5. Enter the password then press the key (*) 6. Press the "Wake-up" button on the handle. 7. While the indicator blinks slowly, place the Terminal in front of the reader head. 8. Leave the Terminal in contact with the reader until the transfer has ended (100%) and 2 beeps sound. 9. Remove the PPT from the reader head. 10. You are now in dialogue mode with the handle: Diagnostics, with the date and time displayed, scroll around the Terminal screen. 11. Press the key on the PPT. 12. The first of the handle's menus is displayed: "SETTINGS" (**) 13. Follow the instructions below to use the menus. NB: When the handle is new: (*) The default password for a new handle is (**) You must first define a new password before accessing the handle settings. IMPORTANT: If, on trying to connect, the Terminal returns to the scrolling menu and you see the following message: " TERMINAL VERSION NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THIS CENTRAL UNIT ". Please contact your dealer to have your terminal updated. Configuring the handle Once in handle dialogue mode, any settings changed on the Terminal must be sent back to the handle. To transfer the updated settings changed on the Terminal to the handle, proceed as follows: 1. Validate the latest change by pressing the key on the Terminal. 2. Press the "Wake-up" button on the handle. 3. While the indicator blinks slowly, place the Terminal in front of the reader head. 4. Leave the Terminal in contact with the reader until the transfer has ended (100%) and a long beep sounds. Note: changes made on the Terminal will only be used by the handle after the transfer. Main Intratone handle menus SETTINGS ON THE CENTRAL UNIT ACCESS FOR SERVICE PROVIDERS MAINTENANCE OF THE CENTRAL UNIT Changing the date, time, central unit address, Unrestricted-access timeslots, etc. Operating mode for service providers (cf. below) Password modification, central unit reset The arrows show the direction in which to move through the screens by using the next menu key on the PPT. The cancel key enables you to exit programming mode. Please note: When making any change, remember to update the handled by reconnecting to the reader head using the PPT: Press the "Wake-up" button on the Intratone handle. The LED blinks slowly for 5 seconds. Place the Terminal in contact with the reader until the transfer has ended (100%) and 2 beeps sound. Page 4

Numerical keys for time entry Validate to move to next screen For information only Note: the factory default for the main cylinder is Once the handle is in use, the main cylinder is the one defined on installation. Menu: 'Service-provider Access' The Intratone handle offers a "Service-provider Access" operating mode which is based on recognition of VIGIK (*) badges. "Service-provider Access" enables the site manager to decide whether all VIGIK (*) badge holders may or may not open the door controlled by the Intratone handle. If he or she decides to authorise access, he or she can define the authorised days and three timeslots. In this case, if the service provider calls on an authorised day within the predefined timeslots, the handle opens the door regardless of the badge details. This way of operating enables use of the security filtering carried out by a VIGIK (*) central unit managing access to an apartment building's lobby, for instance, (only VIGIK (*) authorised services can enter the apartment building) and use of service-provider access for secondary doors thanks to the economical solution represented by the Intratone handle. (*): VIGIK is a trademark of La Poste. The menus for defining "Service-provider Access" are as follows: Access authorised: yes Days :MTWTFSS Access :***** Timeslot 1 From 00:00 to 24:00 (next timeslots) Menu keys to select YES or NO. ALL THE DATA... Enter the existing password. Enter the new password (minimum 4 digits, maximum 8). You must re-enter the password to confirm the change. Menu keys to scroll through events Cancel key to exit. Not used. Not used. Validate key to perform reset The handle reverts to the ex-factory test mode. The "factory settings" returns the central unit to its as-new "ready-to-install" configuration. - Password: Test mode: All Intratone keys open the door. Commissioning of the handle (managing keys via the Internet) At factory settings all proximity keys in the Intratone range will open the door. The central unit must be commissioned in order to restrict access to authorised persons. The website enables you to make a commissioning key. When placed in front of the handle, it can be commissioned using this key. 1. Connect to the Press "Residences", then configure your Residence Create an access point (outside or inside depending on its geographical location) for your handle Give a name to this access point and select "Intratone Handle" in the equipment list Click on "Configure" and define an 8-digit serial no. (*) ), then save it 1.5. Go back to the access creation screen and press the "Save" button Continue to configure residents' keys if required Click on the "Central units" button (on the left of the screen) Press on "Commission". A new screen is displayed Place a key in your key programmer Once the serial no. has been read, press "Commission" You have just created a commissioning key. 2. Go to the Intratone handle with this commissioning key and a blank key (not programmed). Commissioning Phase 1: 2.1. Press the "Wake-up" PB on the handle When the LED on the reader head blinks slowly, pass the commissioning key in front of the reader The door should unlock, but do not open it Wait until the LED turns off. Commissioning Phase 2: 2.5. Press the "Wake-up" PB on the handle When the LED on the reader head blinks slowly, pass the commissioning key in front of the reader again The LED should be on continuously (red) Wait until the LED turns off. Commissioning Phase 3: 2.9. Press the "Wake-up" PB on the handle When the LED on the reader head blinks slowly, pass the commissioning key in front of the reader again The LED should blink rapidly red/red. End of Commissioning: The handle is now operational Open and shut the door Press the "Wake-up" PB on the handle When the LED on the reader head blinks slowly, pass the blank key in front of the reader Check that the door no longer opens. >>> If the door still opens, go back to step 2.1. and start again <<< >>>If not, henceforth, only authorised keys will open this access point. <<< Page 6

7 In the event of losing the Intratone handle password Access to programming the INTRATONE handle is protected by a password which you must define when first connecting using the Portable Programming Terminal. You can subsequently change the password at any time. If you forget the handle's password, you will no longer be able to go into programming mode and so change any settings saved. It is therefore highly important to choose passwords for your central units very carefully. It is recommended not to write passwords down on paper without taking the necessary steps to store them in a confidential location. If, despite this, you forget the password for a handle, proceed as follows: 1. Use a PPT 2. Press the On/Off button for 3 seconds then press any key on the keypad. 3. The "CONNECTION TO A CENTRAL UNIT" menu appears. 4. Validate by pressing the key on the PPT. 5. When asked for the password, type in any 4 digits, then validate. 6. Press the "Wake-up" button on the handle. 7. While the indicator blinks slowly, place the Terminal in front of the reader head. 8. Leave the Terminal in contact with the reader head: it will display the "Incorrect password" message 9. Remove the Terminal from the reader head. 10. The terminal displays a decoding sequence on its screen. Make a careful note of these 16 characters.(*) 11. Contact your dealer for details of the password recovery procedure. (*): The characters displayed are different each time the password is incorrect. Page 7
