1 This guide is only for NEW students to Mid-Pacific Institute. ipad can only be set up at home or with an accessible Wi-Fi network. Set up cannot be performed on campus. Follow this guide to set up your ipad. Be sure to follow it from start to finish! If at any time you run into trouble, please read through the TROUBLESHOOTING section at the end of this document. If you require further assistance, please send an to with a detailed description of the issue you are encountering. SET UP Step 1: Hello! Turn on the ipad. The power button is on the top right. Hold it down until you see the Apple logo on the screen. Press the Home button to unlock the ipad. Page 1

2 SET UP Step 2: Select Language Select English. Page 2

3 SET UP Step 3: Select Your Country or Region Select United States. Page 3

4 SET UP Step 4: Choose a Wi-Fi Network Next, connect to a Wi-Fi network that you have access to. A list of available Wi-Fi networks will appear. Tap the network to access. Page 4

5 SET UP Step 5: Apps & Data Tap Setup as a new ipad. Page 5

6 SET UP Step 6: Mid-Pacific Configuration We must now allow Mid-Pacific Institute to configure our ipad automatically. Tap Next. SET UP Step 7: Log In with Open Directory (OD) Account Next, you'll need your OD Account username and password. 1. Sign in with your computer network account (OD). 2. Tap Next. Page 6

8 SET UP Step 8: Create a Passcode Please create a passcode to protect your ipad. Do NOT forget your passcode. If you forget your passcode, you could disable your ipad and will have to erase it. Page 8

9 SET UP Step 9: Enter Your AppleID 1. Enter your Apple ID and password. 2. Tap Next. If you do not have an AppleID, you can create one for free following our guide here ( Page 9

10 SET UP Step 10: icloud Drive You may see a screen to upgrade to icloud drive. Tap Upgrade to icloud drive. Page 10

11 SET UP Step 11: icloud Keychain You may see a screen about icloud Keychain. Tap Continue to use icloud keychain if you want to use it, or tap Don't use icloud keychain if you don't. Page 11

12 SET UP Step 12: Welcome to ipad! Tap Get Started. Page 12

13 SET UP Step 13: New Apps Will Download Automatically School provided apps will begin downloading. Please be patient as this could take some time to complete. Click Dismiss after reading the Edit Home Screen information. Page 13

14 SET UP Step 14: GarageBand, imovie, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote These apps will automatically be installed free of charge. Please check to see if any of your classes require additional apps. You have now completed the initial ipad Set Up. Continue on to set up your Mid-Pacific Institute account. Page 14

15 SET UP Let's set up your student account. To begin setup, tap on the icon with a picture of a letter. Page 15

17 Enter Credentials 1. Enter your Mid-Pacific address 2. Tap Next. Page 17

18 Enter Your Password 1. Enter your Mid-Pacific password. 2. Tap Next. Page 18

19 Turn on Gmail Services Set the slider to green for Mail, Contacts, Calendars and Notes. Tap Save. Page 19

20 Success! Your will begin downloading and is now configured and ready to use. TROUBLESHOOTING Restarting and Resetting an ipad If something isn t working, try restarting ipad, forcing an app to close, or resetting ipad. Restart ipad: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Drag the slider to turn off ipad. To turn ipad back on, hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears. 21 Force an app to close: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button on top of ipad for a few seconds until a red slider appears, then hold down the Home button until the app closes. If you can t turn off ipad or if the problem continues, you may need to reset ipad. This should be done only if turning ipad off and on doesn t resolve the problem. Reset ipad: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Shutdown ipad: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Drag the slider to turn off ipad.
