1 GE Healthcare Life Sciences How to Download a GE Healthcare License File This is a short instruction on how to collect an edelivery file for a software product using the GE Healthcare Life Science licensing system. In the appendix is a general description on how to find the correct Ethernet address.

3 Download the License File 1. Open your browser and go to the web address: 2. In the login page, you will be provided with two options to login. For easy access to activate your license or download the software, we recommend you to login using Activation ID received via with your purchase and then click Log In. 3. At the top of the home page (License & Delivery Portal), click on the Activation & Entitlements tab and choose List Entitlements AD 3

4 4. Check box next to license you wish to activate in the list, click on the Actions button and select Activate. 5. Enter values for fields marked with a * and click Next AD

5 6. Under Configure Hosts, click on the Add button: A new window called Create License Host is opening. 7. Enter your Ethernet address with no spaces or dashes (just the numbers and letters). In example below: 11aa22bb33cc. See appendix on how to find the right Ethernet address. Then Click OK. 8. This populates Server Host field. Click Generate AD 5

6 9. Check the box next to the activated license. Click on View. Select Save To File (Alternatively license) The license file is showing up in at the bottom left of your screen. Click on the arrow to open the drop-down list and select Show in Folder. 10. Then Cut & Paste the license file in the dedicated elicense folder on your computer. When saving the license on your computer you will need to rename the license file name and add the date and time (and software name) into the file name. Important that the file extension remains *.lic. A floating license (using a license server) is normally placed in a folder created during installation of the license server, normally: C:\Program Files\GE Healthcare\eLicense server\licenses A node locked license is normally free to place in any folder, but that may vary between software products AD Congratulations! You have now successfully downloaded your license file.

7 Start using the License The procedure on how to start using the license file with a software product may differ between the products. Below are two general descriptions, one for a floating license and one for a node locked license. For product specific details, please refer to the documentation for each product. Floating License A floating license requires the license server for license handling 1. Start installation of the e-license server by starting the setup.exe. This is supplied with the software product and placed in a folder named license folder. 2. Follow the instructions for the installation 3. Once license is saved into correct folder you can restart the computer. Alternatively, start the license server administration tool: Start->All Programs->GE Healthcare->GE Healthcare Software Licensing Server-> License Server Admin 4. Select tab Start/Stop/ReRead 5. Click Start Server 6. Click ReRead License File AD 7

8 7. Start your software product. 8. A dialog appears where you can select to use a node locked or a floating license, choose floating 9. Enter the name of the computer where the license server is installed. Enter localhost If it is the same computer as for the software product. 10. Done. Node Locked license A node locked license does not require a license server. 1. Start your software product. 2. A dialog appears where you can select to use a node locked or a floating license, choose node locked. 3. Browse for the license file or enter the complete path including the license file name. 4. 9 Appendix How to Find your Ethernet Address Here is a general description on how to find the Ethernet address. Ethernet Address is also known as Machine id, mac-id, Host-ID, or physical address. Important. Use the Ethernet address for the computer where the license file will be placed. The placement may depend on the license type: 1. Concurrent license (a.k.a. floating), use Ethernet address for the computer where the license server is installed. 2. Node locked license, use Ethernet address for the computer where the software application is installed. Get Ethernet address 1. Click on the Windows Icon at the left bottom, click in the search window above, type cmd and press Enter, AD 11

10 2. In the Command Window type ipconfig /all and press enter. 3. The response should contain several parameters for the network. Look for the line Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection. Then look for the Physical Address. This number is the Ethernet address. In the example below it is marked in white. It must be used as a straight number without -. In the example below it is 00AA11BB22CC. If you have more than one physical address listed, select the one that is not connected to the VPN or Wifi. The physical address must be a permanent physical address from your local area network. Any wireless or remote access physical address should not be used AD
