1 Page 7A TRENDS Installation (for Excel 2007 or Excel 2010) Prior to installing TRENDS on your personal computer (PC) you need to make some adjustments to your computer. 1. The first adjustment is to have the Developer Tab appear on the ribbon of an Excel 2007 or Excel 2010 sheet so that security may be adjusted. Excel 2007 (refer to image copy of computer screen below the directions) a. Open a blank Excel 2007 spreadsheet by pressing the Start Button at the Bottom left of the screen b. Click on the multicolored Microsoft icon in the menu c. Choose Word Options. d. Choose to show Show Developer Tab on the ribbon The Developer Tab will appear on all Excel Spreadsheets Excel 2010 (refer to copy of computer screen below the directions) a. Open a blank Excel 2010 spreadsheet by going to File tab on ribbon. On File tab, choose New and the option of Blank Worksheet. b. Choose File tab on ribbon c. Choose Options d. Under Options, choose Customize Ribbon. e. Check next to Developer. Select OK. To exit. f. The Developer Tab will appear on all Excel Spreadsheets

2 Page 7B 2. The second adjustment is to lower the security level so that the macros in TRENDS will be enabled when it is installed. Step Excel 2007 Excel Choose the Developer Tab on an Excel sheet Choose the Developer Tab on an Excel sheet 2 On the second from the bottom line on the ribbon, choose Macro Security On Codes Section of the ribbon, choose Macro Security 3 In the TRUST Center, you are given options In the TRUST Center, you are given options Disable macros without notification Disable macros without notification Disable all macros with notification Disable all macros with notification Disable all macros except those digitally signed Disable all macros except those digitally signed Enable all macros (not recommended: potentially dangerous code to run) Enable all macros (not recommended: potentially dangerous code to run) Choose the Final Option to ENABLE Choose the Final Option to ENABLE 4 Choose OK to exit Trust Center Choose OK to exit Trust Center TRENDS V3 may now be installed. Go to Page 7 of TRENDS V3 Support Manual and follow steps After installation is complete, and you are ready to open TRENDS, you may receive the error message, Your Microsoft Excel software path could not be located. If you receive the error message, go to page 10A of the TRENDS V3 Support Manual for directions to open TRENDS.

3 Page 7C 3. After opening TRENDS there is an additional adjustment to make. You need to accept the conversion of labels in formulas to cell references as you open TRENDS. a. When TRENDS V3 opens in Excel 2007 or Excel 2010, you will get a message box asking you to accept the conversion of labels in formulas to cell references. Choose YES b. Next you will get a security warning just below the toolbar that says that the macros have been disabled. Click on options. You will get a window that allows you to choose enable this content. Choose the enable the content option and you should get the window that asks you to enter your TRENDS password. At this point the macros are enabled and TRENDS should work. NOTE: when you open TRENDS, if you are not asked for a Password, the macros have not been enabled NOTE: After TRENDS is fully installed and working correctly, return your macro security level to its prior setting: Choose the Developer Tab on an Excel sheet On Codes Section of the ribbon, choose Macro Security In the TRUST Center, you are given options Disable macros without notification Disable all macros with notification Disable all macros except those digitally signed Enable all macros (not recommended: potentially dangerous code to run) Choose the Second Option to Disable all macros with notification Choose OK to exit Trust Center

4 Page 10A I/O Error While Opening TRENDS in Excel 2007 or Excel 2010 I/O errors in the TRENDS BROWSER are usually a result of the TRENDS BROWSER not being properly configured for your spreadsheet software. If you receive an I/O error while trying to open TRENDS from the TRENDS BROWSER, use the following instructions to locate your spreadsheet software on your PC and configure TRENDS. BROWSER. 1. Open the TRENDS BROWSER by double-clicking the TRENDS icon on your desktop. 2. Click Configuration from the TRENDS BROWSER menu and select Settings. Scroll to Microsoft Office and Open. 3. You will see an Open dialog box. 4. Use this dialog box to locate and select the EXCEL.EXE or EXCEL in Microsoft Excel. You may need to go through Program to find Microsoft Office, followed by Office14 (or Office XX), which will bring you to EXCEL.EXE or EXCEL Choose this selection. 5. When you have selected the EXE file, click the Open button on the Open dialog box. 6. If you have picked a file that appears to be a valid file, you will receive a message confirming your choice of a valid file. Click the OK button and Excel will open. 7. Close the Excel program by choosing File, Exit. (X Close) 8. You will be asked if Excel is loaded properly. If the program loaded, click the Yes button. 9. You will now be back in the TRENDS BROWSER. 10. Click File, Exit from the TRENDS BROWSER menu to close the TRENDS BROWSER. 11. TRENDS should now open. If you are unable to open TRENDS through the TRENDS icon, an alternative is to: 1. Click on Computer or My Computer 2. Open your C:/ drive 3. Open the folder called Program files 4. Scroll down till you see the TRENDS folder 5. Open TRENDS folder 6. Double click on the TRENDSv3 icon to open the TRENDS excel file

5 Page 10B (use only for problem-solving when TRENDS will not save correctly) 4. The fourth adjustment is to fix the Print and Save connection so that saving into Program Files/TRENDs will work through the TRENDS icon: ERROR MESSAGE: Folder is read only. The default to save a TRENDS file is in the TRENDS folder located on the C Drive within a folder called Program Files. The TRENDS folder in Excel 2007 and Excel 2010 may originally allow only Read Only Attributes. This needs to be changed in order to use the SAVE feature. Resolution Part 1: 1. Go to My Computer or Computer 2. Double click on C Drive 3. Double click on Program Files (may say Program Files (x86)) 4. Scroll down to TRENDS and right click on TRENDS 5. Choose Properties 6. Select the Security tab a. Under Group or User Names, highlight either Administrator or User, whichever is appropriate. b. To change permissions in the next section of this page, click Edit c. If needed, under Permissions for TRENDS, highlight either Administrator or User, whichever is appropriate. d. Once highlighted, allow permission for the user by checking the boxes. The following should be checked: i. Read and execute ii. List folder contents iii. Read iv. Write e. Click on Apply (to the right on the screen) f. Click on Close (or OK) Resolution Part 2: Instructions for Microsoft Excel 2007 or Excel 2010 users to correct Save Trends macro When clicking the Save TRENDS button and you receive a Run Time Error 1004 : 1. In your open TRENDS, choose the Excel Menu View tab

6 Page 10C 2. On the top right of the ribbon go to Macros, and choose View Macros 3. Scroll down and select the macro name SaveTrends and click the Edit button in the box to the right of the list. 4. From the Macro Editor menu select Edit, Replace 5. In the Find What box type xlexcel9795 (note : use the letter L not the number 1) 6. In the Replace With box type 56. Then choose Replace All 7. Two replacements should be made; click Ok 8. Click the to close the Replace box 9. Click the to close the Macro Editor (Use the topmost right box to close all at once). 10. Click the Save button in the upper left top toolbar 11. Click the TRENDS Print & Save tab 12. Click the Save TRENDS button, and follow the save directions 13. You should now be able to save TRENDS through the Print & Save tab in TRENDS Note: Some systems may need the PC Administrator to assign full control access to the hard drive location C:\Program Files (x86)\trends\ (Correction directions provided by Helen Burke, SSJ, Hertha Longo, CSA, Eileen Matthews, PBVM, Laura Reicks, RSM and Matt Wade)
