1 Chapter 6: Inserting fixtures Launch MasterChef from the icon on your desktop. Note: If you are using a demo version, once loaded the program, a message will notify the remaining days of the evaluation period. If you are in possession of the licence of the software, make sure you have inserted and installed the USB hardware key that came with the licence to use the software. From the main screen of the PDM module of MasterChef you double-click on the plan using the menu on the left side or the the central grid part containing the list of projects already created. Pag. 1

2 This will open the tab for the selected plant in which you can view the documents it contains. In our case we will find the DWG file with the walls you just created (as explained in the previous chapter). Select the document to open DWG and you double click on it to open the file in the CAD environment. Pag. 2

3 Now click on the "FIXTURES", holding the left mouse button on the command Walls 2D/3D and selecting the second button in the toolbar of the architectural elements of MasterChef. In the new toolpalette the "FIXTURES" command has the following icon: In the window that appears, choose first the type of fixture you want to insert from the list in the upper right corner: Window Door Hole Niche Elevator/goods lift Then select the item WINDOW. Click on the preview of the window, to open the library and choose the first type of fixture. Confirm with the OK button to exit the library. Make sure you have set: Width: mm Height: mm Height from ground: mm Insertion point of the fixture : In the inside (as shown in the image below ) Then click on the OK button. Pag. 3

4 Get closer to the upper external wall using the ZOOM command, in order to better define the work area. To identify the wall in which you wish to place the fixture, you must identify a point outside and a point inside to it. Then click with the left mouse button in empty space outside the wall and then inside the room, to create a line that intersects the wall. When drawing the segment, approach angle with respect to which you want to insert the fixture. It is now required to specify the distance of the fixture from the corner. Insert the following value: Distance: 1600 mm Your fixture has been inserted in both 2D and in 3D. Now repeat the same command to insert the other two windows on the right side of your project. Now click on "FIXTURES" in the toolbar of the architectural elements of MasterChef. In the window that appears, select the item WINDOW. Click on the preview window, to open the library and choose a fourth type of fixture "triple window". Confirm with the OK button to exit the library. Make sure you have set: Width: mm Height: mm Height from ground: mm Insertion point of the fixture : In the inside (as shown in the image below ) Then click the OK button. Pag. 4

Confirm with the OK button to exit the library. Make sure you have set: Width: mm Height: mm Height from ground: mm Insertion point of the fixture : In the inside (as shown in the image below ) Then click the OK button. Pag. 5

6 Get closer to the upper right external wall using the ZOOM command, in order to better define the work area. To identify the wall in which you wish to place the fixture, you must identify a point outside and a point inside to it. Then click with the left mouse button in empty space outside the wall and then inside the room, to create a line that intersects the wall. When drawing the segment, approach angle with respect to which you want to insert the fixture. It is now required to specify the distance of the fixture from the corner. Insert the following value: Distance: 400 mm Your fixture has been inserted in both 2D and in 3D. Insert now the last fixture, making sure to choose the insertion point that this time must be at the center of the fixture instead of the inner corner. Pag. 6

7 Now click on "FIXTURES" in the toolbar of the architectural elements of MasterChef. In the window that appears, select the item WINDOW. Click on the preview window, to open the library and choose the seventh type of fixture "large window". Confirm with the OK button to exit the library. Make sure you have set: Width: mm Height: mm Height from the ground: mm Insertion point of the fixture : in the center (as shown in the image below) Then click on the OK button. Get closer to the upper right external wall using the ZOOM command, in order to better define the work area. To identify the wall in which you wish to place the fixture, you must identify a point outside and a point inside to it. Then click with the left mouse button in empty space outside the wall and then inside the room, to create a line that intersects the wall. This time, when drawing the segment, it is not necessary to get close to a corner, in that the window will be positioned at the center of the wall. Ensure you have activated the option Osnap MIDPOINT in the Drafting Settings. Pag. 7

8 Bring closer the mouse pointer to the inner side of the wall until you see the symbol Osnap MIDPOINT. Click with the left mouse button on the midpoint identified by the symbol Osnap MIDPOINT. Your fixture has been inserted in both 2D and in 3D. To verify the correctness of your project so far achieved even in 3D, change the view by moving from plan view to an isometric SE view. To do this, use the VIEW toolbar of MasterChef. Then apply a drop shadow by choosing from the toolbar "VIEWS&STYLE" of MasterChef the display style "Realistic Visual Style". Remember that you can change display modes by holding down the related button. Pag. 8
