2 Entity - BDC Requirements A master entity is needed, which can be selected based on a table or on a RFC/BAPI The entity must have at least one or more identifier(s) All functions must have this entity in their signature as explained in the next slides. 2

3 Specific Finder - BDC Requirements Returns exactly one instance of an entity, given its identifier (ID) You must have at least one or more identifier(s) The Specific Finder must take all IDs as input parameters The Specific Finder must return a single instance of the entity, including the IDs 3

4 Specific Finder SAP Example The Specific Finder function takes the unique ID (I_PRODUCTNR) as Import parameter. 4

5 Specific Finder SAP Example The Specific Finder function can return a single record of the entity (ZECSPRODUCTS). This can be in form of an Export parameter

8 Finder - BDC Requirements Returns multiple instances of an entity, given its filter criteria Should have at least a limit filter to limit the number of returned items Should return the ID (or IDs) of the item 8

9 Finder SAP Example The Finder function takes input parameters (SEARCH_PRODUCTNR, SEARCH_PRODTYPE) that enable filtering of the result set. Limit parameter does not need to be on SAP signature, it is enabled through BCS Connector. 9

10 Finder SAP Example The result set has to be returned as Table parameter and has to be able to return more than one record. The return type (ZECSPRODUCTS) needs to match with the return type of the Specific Finder method. 10

11 Creator - BDC Requirements Creates a new entity instance Should take as input parameter the entity, which contains the fields that are mandatory to create a new instance of an item Can take the ID (or IDs) of the item as input 11

12 Creator SAP Example The Creator function takes as import parameters the structure of the new item instance (ZECSPRODUCTS). This is the same data structure that is returned by the Specific Finder. 12

14 Updater - BDC Requirements Updates an existing entity instance Takes as input parameters the ID (or IDs) of the entity AND the data structure of the entity with the updated values (i.e. the same data structure that is returned by the Specific Finder) 14

15 Updater SAP Example The Updater function takes as import parameters the ID and the data structure with the new values of the item instance (ZECSPRODUCTS). This is the same data structure that is returned by the Specific Finder. 15
