The program meta data will have been propagated from the online form and includes: Program Title, Topic, Subject Matter and Synopsis. MMAPS REMOTE PROGRAM EDITOR - User Guide /
PROGRAM SET UP The work flow for the CD to set up their program is as follows: Select Program Type Select Program Structure Upload Teaser Image Select Program Type IN BRIEF Program MINI Program PROGRAM IN BRIEF: Provides three options: a Hotspot, a sequential structure, or a single screen. MINI: A multi level program of up to 18 screens. PROGRAM: A multi level program of up to 24 screens. MMAPS REMOTE PROGRAM EDITOR - User Guide /
Select Program Structure MINI The CD must select one of a suite of program navigational structures. Each structure is illustrated visually by a flow chart thumbnail and short description that details the program structure. The program structure must be created before the teaser image is uploaded and before any content can be assigned to the program. The full list of program structures can be found on page 16 Program Flowcharts. Note: You cannot change the program structure once you have selected and submitted your choice. IN-BRIEF PROGRAM MMAPS REMOTE PROGRAM EDITOR - User Guide /
Upload Teaser Image The Teaser Image is the image that will be used on the collaboration console in the program browser and program preview popup. The image is uploaded to the MMaPS media pool and can be used anywhere within the program. A title, caption, copyright and file location must be provided. Note: Every program has to have a teaser image uploaded. If the CD does not load one, the program will not publish. MMAPS REMOTE PROGRAM EDITOR - User Guide /
POPULATE PROGRAM The work flow for the CD to populate their program is as follows: Upload Media Select Style Select Template Assign Media / Text Note: it is possible to upload media immediately after logging in. Upload Media To upload media the CD can select the upload button on the Media Panel. A pop up window will appear which allows the CD to browse to a media file on their local computer and upload it to the server. Once uploaded it will appear under the MEDIA tab in a media pool. Specifications for Digital Media Content that can be used in Programs can be found on the Studio 1080 website. Note: video needs to be encoded before it can be assigned. When you upload video, you will see a progress icon, indicating it is being encoded by the MMaPS server. The progress icon changes to a screen grab when the encoding is finished. MMAPS REMOTE PROGRAM EDITOR - User Guide /
Select Style When you first open your program, the MSU BTC style will be the default. The CD can select a Style for their program from the list provided in the STYLES tab at the bottom of the interface. This style is applied globally to the program. Styles can be changed at any stage during program creation. MMAPS REMOTE PROGRAM EDITOR - User Guide /
Select Template The Main Menu and Sub Menu templates are not changeable and are the same for all MINI and PROGRAM types across all styles. A selection of templates is provided for the CD to apply to each subsequent screen and their associated pop up pages. The template manages the arrangement and location of media and text. The CD assigns media and text to placeholders in the template. If a CD changes a template after assigning media, the screen will keep any assignments that match the new template. Media and text assignments that do not fit the new template will be lost. For example, if the original template had two images and the new template has only one, then the second image assignment will be lost. The image will remain available in the Media pool. Button Item The CD is able to create links to other pages by ALT clicking on Buttons on the template design. Once the CD clicks on a button it is activated and a new blank screen is created for the CD to assign media and text. In order for a button to appear, the following criteria must be met: The button text must be entered (either in the Global Template or Screen Specific Template). A template must be assigned and content must be assigned to the screen. Note: Hotspot templates are only available to IN BRIEF Hotspot Programs. Every template has: Media Items (Video, Image, Flash) Text Items Button Items (with associated text) If content is not assigned to template media items, the area on the screen reserved for this media item will appear blank in the published program. Selected Template Unpopulated Media Item MMAPS REMOTE PROGRAM EDITOR - User Guide /
Assign Media / Text Media resources are classified in two ways: CD Resources Shared Resources Media assets can be: Text Image Video Flash PowerPoint file Each media asset has metadata. Double clicking on the media asset icon will open its metadata popup. MEDIA ITEM: The CD is able to assign any Media Asset by dragging and dropping it to a Media Item on a program screen. The media assets that are uploaded are stored at the original resolution. They are resized when assigned. TEXT MEDIA ITEM: The CD can edit a Text Media Item by selecting a text box and inputting text. The text box itself is a WYSIWYG editor (What You See Is What You Get). A text editing tool bar will appear when a text box is selected. The properties available to the CD are Delete, Bold, Italic, and Underline. Filtering Media Resources: The MEDIA view can be filtered to show CD Resources (My Resources), Shared Resources or both. The My Resources button displays only media assets uploaded by the Content Developer currently logged in. The Shared Resources button displays only media assets uploaded by the System Administrator (SA) that have been assigned for public use. Filtering Media Type: In My Resources, Shared Resources or both, the Media view can be filtered to show Images and/ or Videos and / or Flash. The Image Icon button displays only images uploaded into the media pool. The Video Icon button displays only video uploaded into the media pool. The Flash Icon button displays only flash uploaded into the media pool. Searching Media: The CD can search for a Media Asset by typing all or part of the title in the search box alongside the Media Icons. By filtering the Media Type, the search can be media asset specific. Note: Every template has a Media Item template; some have an additional box for images only. If you drag and drop a non-image media asset to the image only box, it will not populate. MMAPS REMOTE PROGRAM EDITOR - User Guide /
