1 TouchLink Touchpanel User Manual Introduction This guide will help presenters use the Extron-based presentation equipment by focusing on the TouchLink Touchpanel. It will provide detailed information about its functions. In the center, there is a power button, which turns on the projector and the rest of the A/V system. This does not include the desktop computer. 2 There is a microphone mute button, which mutes the microphone located in the center of the podium. By default, it is on and indicated by the flashing icon. There is a button for audio controls, which will control the volume levels for the podium and wireless microphones and the connected device. We will go into more detail later. The warning messages on the left will only show up when something in the room needs serviced. Hopefully you will never see these messages, but if you do, please contact Classroom Support Services at (562) or ATS-CSS@csulb.edu. Main Page There are many options on this screen, including some of the same ones as the start page. As you can see, there is still the microphone mute button, audio control button, and warning messages (which again will not normally display). These function exactly as ones on the previous screen. There are a few notable additions, however, including a help button, power down, and multiple source inputs. We will go into each of these in more detail later. There is a volume level located on this screen, which controls the volume of whatever source device you are using. The buttons are standard: volume up, volume down, and mute. Video Mute allows you to turn off the display from the projector, while the computer monitor continues to be visible. This is useful to keep sensitive information hidden from the class when using the PC, among other things. The icon flashing indicates video mute, much like microphone or audio mute. It can be turned on and off by pressing the button once again. Sources Sources are devices that you will be using to broadcast the image or content to the data projector. 3 Desktop PC PC is the default selection, and should display on the monitor before even turning on the projector. If it does not display, please make sure the PC has power and move mouse or tap a key on the keyboard. The computer will login automatically, using a generic account. This will begin a four-hour session after which the account will log out automatically. Once you are finished using the PC, please remember to log out for the next event. This will delete any information used during your session. The PC has internet connection, as well as standard software such as Microsoft Office. 4 Laptop Laptop includes three different connection types, all of which are in the cable cubby on the podium. The three buttons show each connector from a front-facing view, to help you determine which cable you are using. VGA is the default selection for Laptop and highlighted on the touch panel. The audio is a separate from the video on this connection. The 3.5mm audio, connected to the VGA cable, will plug in to your laptop s headphone jack. HDMI is a newer connection, more commonly found on newer devices. It carries high definition signals, including both audio and video. Mini DisplayPort are connections used commonly found on MacBooks, newer tablets, and PC laptops. It also carries both audio and video in one connection. 5 Document Camera Document Camera is the device located on the side of the podium. Once selected, there is a simple graphic to show how to use the document camera. To power on the document camera, press the Power button once and blue light will indicate that the device is on. Adjust the camera arm so that it frames the document underneath the camera. There are focus and zoom buttons to adjust the clarity and magnification of the document. When done, press the power button twice to turn it off, as if you would double click on a mouse. 6 Blu-ray Player Blu-ray displays the Blu-ray player located inside the podium. Initially it displays a menu screen. All the controls for the Blu-ray player are located on the touch panel and no remote needed. Please make sure the cabinet door is open first to use the Blue-ray player. Tap the Open/Close button to open the tray of the Blu-ray player. Insert the disc and press Open/Close once again. On the right side of the touch panel are the buttons to navigate the menu, including Pop Up Menu which displays during video playback. On the left side are the standard DVD controls, including play, pause, rewind, and fast-forward. Stop stops playback and returns to the Blu-ray menu screen. 7 Audio Controls with Wireless Controls The Audio Control page contains controls for the podium microphone volume, wireless microphone volume, and device volume. The levels should start around the halfway mark and adjusted accordingly with the volume up and volume down buttons. There are also mute buttons for both the microphones and the device audio, indicated by the flashing icons. By default, the Podium Microphone is set to mute to reduce the sound picked up by the microphone when not being used by a presenter. Audio Controls is accessible via the first Start page and the Main page. Device volume controls are located on the main page, as well. This page allows for more control over the microphone volumes, and changing device volume via the start page without turning on the projector first. 8 Help and Information Page The Help button brings up useful contact information. If there is ever an issue in the classroom such as a piece of equipment not working, or if one of the warning indicators comes on, please feel free to contact us via this phone number or . This screen also contains the room number you are located in. This is information we will need to come help you. Please describe the issue as clearly and completely as possible, so we can solve the problem more quickly and with less interruption of class time. System Power Down Press the System Off button on the Touchpanel and confirm by tapping on the Power Down button. Turn the document camera off by pressing the power button twice.
