1 2. PRTG LabTech Plugin Configuration and Usage The purpose of this document is to provide instruction on how to configure and use the PRTG/LabTech integration plugin. This plugin integration provides the following features: Grid views for sensors and alarms Map PRTG probes to a LabTech locations Ticket creation for alarms Pause all sensors on PRTG probe from the LabTech location All other PRTG management will currently need to be done via the PRTG portal. Configuration Prerequisites: PRTG server installed, username, password and server address available. Plugin is installed. Credentials For the plugin to make a connection with the PRTG portal, the username, password and server address must be entered and saved in the plugin settings. The PRTG user MUST be in the PRTG Administrators user group.

2 Click PRTG Button on the main toolbar menu Click the Settings tab. Enter your PRTG connection information in the appropriate text boxes Click Save You should now see Connection good at the bottom of the Credentials box. Mapping PRTG Remote Probes or Groups to LabTech Locations For data grid, alerting and ticketing information to display the proper Client and Location for the PRTG devices, they need to be mapped to a LabTech location Click PRTG Button on the main toolbar menu Click the Settings tab. Use the Probe Assignment data grid a. b. Find the Client/Location in the data grid Use the drop down menu to choose the PRTG Probe you want to map to that location i. Alternatively, a PRTG group can be mapped to the LabTech location if so desired. 4. When you are finished mapping the devices you want, click Save. Enabling Ticket Creation Prerequisites: Credentials are saved and probes are mapped.

3 1. Click PRTG Button on the main toolbar menu 2. Click the Settings tab. 3. Globally enable ticketing a. Check the Enable LabTech Ticket Creation in the Credentials box 4. Enable ticketing Location(s) a. Check the Create Tickets box in the row of the Client/Location(s) desired 5. Click Save Other Settings There a few other configuration options for the plugin. They are, Refresh Time, Ticket Category and Limit plugin to LabTech Super Admins. 1. Refresh Time (minutes)

4 2. 3. a. b. This defines the interval, in mounted, that the plugin refreshes it data from the PRTG portal. Default value is 30 minutes i. This can effect items such as monitoring effectiveness if set at too high of an interval or server performance issues if set at too low of an interval. Ticket Category a. This defines the Ticket Category used when tickets are created form the plugin. This can effect dispatch and SLAs on systems configured to sync with a PSA. Limit plugin to Super Admins a. This will limit the visibility and usage of the plugin to only LabTech Super Admin users. Usage Sensors tab The sensors tab consists of all the deployed sensors in PRTG. The Sensors data grid Client/Location column may display blank if the PRTG probe associated with it has not been mapped on the Settings tab. Alarms tab The Alarms tab displays all the PRTG alarms that are currently triggered.

5 The Client/Location may be blank if it has not been mapped to a LabTech location on the settings tab. Settings tab This is covered in the Configuration section of this document. Client Tab The client tab contains a view of the current alarms for all probes under that client. Location Tab The location tab allows for pausing all alarms on a location, viewing the current alarms for the probe on the location and graphs for the probe at the location. It contains 3 sub tabs Probe Management, Alarms and Graphs. Probe Management The probe management tab provides the ability to pause all sensors on the PRTG probe assigned to that LabTech location.

6 Alarms The alarms tab displays a grid of all the current alarms on the PRTG probe assigned to that LabTech location. Graphs The graphs tab displays all PRTG graphs with information related to the PRTG probe assigned to that LabTech location.

7 Troubleshooting Logs Logs are useful to help identify what component the issue lies in. 1. Logs can be accessed via the LabTech Control Tools PRTG Beta Logs. "View" will open the log file "Save to Desktop" will save the log file to the desktop. This can be useful when working with support and they ask for the log file.
