1 To All Lamborghini Dealers & Service Points From Customer Service Department Category Enclosure: - Instructions for installing new LaRA version Instructions for Lara Download Management - Minimum System Requirements Pages 16 Subject New La-Ra AS version and new function "La-Ra Download Manager" Date Information to the field We would like to inform you that we have now available the final La-RA AS version for MY06 that will update the current one installed on your Lamborghini Diagnostic Tester. This release will definitely fix the language problem when opening the diagnosis guide Gallardo (available in English only). Once you download the file from the Web Portal>Customer Service>Download Section and execute LaRa AS, your system will be updated. Remember that after you have installed new La-Ra AS version, you should download the new files Bin, INI and Dra from the section Downloads of the Web Portal. In case of problems with the La-Ra AS file download, please contact your own IT consultant to adjust your PC settings. Moreover, we are proud to announce that this release enables the possibility to load/download the zip file of each Gallardo VIN through the Portal. This new function is called "Lara Download Management" (see enclosed instructions of how it works). In order to ensure the proper Internet connection with your Lamborghini Diagnostic Tester, please make sure to have the minimum system requirements and to follow the Lamborghini suggestions that you can find at the end of this document. 2 SOFTWARE INSTALLATION 1. Connect your Lamborghini Diagnosis Tester to Internet and log on Lamborghini Web portal 2. Click on Customer Service > Technical Communication > Downloads 3. Click on LaRA_AS_ _setup.exe and save it on your Laptop desktop 4. Double click on the LaRA_AS_ _setup.exe 5.Select the language, and press OK 2 1 2

3 6. Click on Next 7. Let the path where the program will be installed, and click on Next 3

4 8. And the installation will begin : 9. When the installation progress has ended, click on Finish 4

5 11. Now your LaRA Software has been installed and ready to be used. Therefore the setup file (LaRA_AS_ _setup.exe) can be deleted from your desktop. 12. Remember to download and install the new files Dra, Bin and Ini from the section download of the Web Portal. Save them on your desktop and double click on everyone. LaRa Download Management Procedure Clicking on Automatic Mode icon (Pict.1), provides access to various functions that enables the user to automatically set and reflash the ECUs of all selected models. This function will soon be extended to Murcièlago as well. Pict.1 5

6 Pict.2 By selecting Automatic Mode, the system reads the vehicle identification number (VIN) through the Kombi and enables the access to all automatic functions. When the Kombi has been replaced with a new one, the system can not recognize the vehicle identification number (VIN). In this case you must write the complete vehicle identification number (VIN) in manually on the space provided, and then set the Kombi, following the relevant procedure. Before this procedure is executed, we recommend that you contact the Lamborghini Service Department in order to receive the current zip file for the car. 6

7 Pict.3 This window (Pict.3) lists the various system options: - All functions marked in black are active (even without the zip file of the car); - The functions marked in grey will run only when the system recognizes the vehicle identification number (VIN) and matches with the zip file of the car. There are two ways of receiving this file: 1. Contact the Lamborghini Service Department 2. Automatic way through the LaRa System (now activated) This is currently valid for all Gallardo Model Years (the function will soon be extended to Murcièlago as well). 7

8 Pict.4 As shown above; the system is enabled to connect via the WEB to Lamborghini Portal in order to receive the zip file of the vehicle. By clicking on Documentation (Pict.4) this function will be activated: an upload file will be created in order to receive the zip file of the car. 8

9 Pict.5 If you want to send immediately the upload: - disconnect the car - connect tointernet - click on Yes (Pict.5) If you want to upload at a later time: - click on No (Pict.5) - then follow the next step 9

10 Pict.6 In the case: - the connection is not accepted; - you do not approve of the connected line; - you prefer to send more vehicle information later: Please click on Action (Pict.6) 10

11 - And select Upload (Pict.7). In this way, you can connect to the Lamborghini Web Portal. The software will synchronize even after the car is disconnected. Pict.7 11

12 Pict.8 In order to connect to Lamborghini Web Portal a Token is needed: you will not be able to log on the Portal without the token uses. Once the system is connected: - the file upload starts - the system requires the Token username and password and the information about the car. This automatic function works only if the LDT is connected to the Web Portal, therefore the Lamborghini minimum system requirements should be respected. Please remember that the information about the car must be sent within two days of creation the file. 12

14 When the upload/download procedure comes to end, click on Close in order to disconnect from Internet (Pict.10). Pict.10 14

15 Pict.11 Once the communication has been closed, the system automatically stores the car zip file into a folder of the Lara software (Pict.11). Please remember that this zip file includes all vehicle information and lasts only one week from its receipt. Once the week has expired the system will automatically erase the zip file. In this case; please follow the instructions again from the beginning. 15

16 Lamborghini suggestions for the correct and safe internet connection: The DVD manual program will need to be updated once a week online through the Lamborghini Portal System at utilizing the authorized Lamborghini Token. This entails installing the Lamborghini Diagnostic Tool on to a network where the World Wide Web and the Portal can be reached safely. The security of the network will be the responsibility of the Authorized dealerships. Please find a list below of Factory recommendations: 1. For download speed: the dial-up modem can not be utilized. Please utilize a network speed of at least 128 KB (recommended 256 KB). The Lamborghini Diagnostic Testers have an onboard cat 5(rj45) network interface card located in the back next to (rj11) the phone jack. 2. For connectivity: Please do not install a peripheral printer through the serial port the back. This could change the configuration to the serial port and prevent proper communication to the automobiles. 3. For Browser Application use: Please utilize Microsoft Explorer 6.0 or higher 4. For Hardware: Please check to see if your Lamborghini Diagnostic Tester is equipped with a DVD reader in the cd-rom bay. The DVD reader is a necessity and will need to be updated if not already equipped. 5. For security: please use a hard wired network for updated we do not recommend a wireless network configuration. The Lamborghini Diagnostic Testers have an onboard cat 5(rj45) network interface card located in the back next to (rj11) the phone jack. 6. For security: A controllable Firewall should be utilized, this could also be configured to accept the Lamborghini Portal address as a safe zone for downloadable updates. 7. For security: Please only utilize the Lamborghini Portal system with the Lamborghini Diagnostic Tester at Other World Wide Web site could expose the Laptop tool to viruses. In the case the Laptop tool should become exposed because of browsing other web sites, a service and shipping charge will be collected for the repairs. All Lamborghini Diagnostic Testers were sold with Intel Pentium M or better and having Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP.
