Incorporated in 1959, California Eastern Laboratories serves designers, OEMs and contract manufacturers in the RF & Wireless, Mobilecomm, Multimedia, Broadband Communications, Industrial Control, and Factory Automation markets. >> In 1966, CEL introduced a tiny new silicon RF transistor to the American market. NEC s V417 featured low noise performance unheard of at the time. Many engineers credit it with helping to launch the commercial solid state microwave industry. Off-the-Shelf and Custom Solutions CEL offers a broad selection of off-the-shelf RF, fiber optic and optoelectronic products, plus we have the resources and expertise to put them to work in your products quickly and efficiently. We provide reference designs, sample kits, and evaluation boards, and our engineering group can assist you with services like design verification, custom test and selection, product characterization, and failure analysis. >> NEC RFIC Switches lead the industry in both performance and package design. A variety of styles and architectures serve Mobilecomm, ZigBee, Bluetooth, Short Range Wireless, WLAN, and WiMAX. We operate two Design Centers, one in the Chicago area and one at our Santa Clara headquarters, for the development of custom products. Here we put NEC technology to work in proprietary ICs, integrated modules, specialized components, and new reference designs. Together with our selected partners, our Design Centers enable us to offer a range of new product development services including prototyping, test and calibration, EMC and RF compliance, and safety certification. >> CEL and partner LS Research have designed and developed a series of miniature transceiver modules for ZigBee and other low cost, low power IEEE data transmission applications. 3 Manufacturing Think of CEL as a fabless company that just happens to be partners with a semiconductor superpower. NEC s automated manufacturing facilities are the most advanced in the world and the quality and consistency of their products is universally acknowledged. NEC manufacturing is capable of delivering five million DVD lasers a month. In RF, NEC was the first to manufacture devices across all three key processing technologies: GaAs, Silicon and SiGe. On top of this, the customer return rate is less than 0.1 parts per million a quality measurement that exceeds Six Sigma. >> Developed at CEL s Chicago-area Design Center, this miniature module provides a fully integrated front-end for cellular phones. While NEC s capabilities are formidable, meeting customer needs sometimes requires the services of other specialty manufacturers. Our relationships with other suppliers enable us to address these specialized requirements and meet critical customer deadlines. Fulfillment We have sales offices in key locations around the world, plus a network of domestic and international distribution partners. We also stock inventory at locations close to our customers. With so many of them manufacturing offshore, we ve found this to be the most efficient way to get product into their hands, when and where they need it.
