2 Imposing with inpo2 ATOM The inpo2 ATOM Wizard allows creating complete imposition layouts and assemblies in just a few clicks. The resulting layout or assembly file may then be directly sent to output, or may be afterwards modified on the light table before output. Throughout the creation process, warning messages will appear at the bottom of the dialog if any error is detected by the validation process of the Wizard. The Wizard will also keep in memory the parameters of the last layout created. Creating a layout using the Wizard To create a file using the Wizard, go to File > Create inpo2... > Wizard. The Wizard dialog will open.

3 The Project Definition panel The first panel of the Wizard is used to determine the work style of the projects, along with identifying the source PDF file. First chose from the dropdown menu the working style of your imposition: Cut and Stack, N-Up, Perfect-Bound, Saddle-Stitched, and Step and Repeat. If no document was opened in Acrobat when opening the Wizard, press Browse to select the appropriate file. The preview will display a thumbnail of the source file first page. If the source file was already opened in Acrobat when entering in Wizard mode, the file will be displayed as source file and all its information will be displayed.

4 The Document section displays the source file related information: Source displays the file name that will be used. Number of pages states the total number of pages identified in the source file. Page size displays the format of the source file pages, based on the TrimBox. If no TrimBox is defined, the MediaBox format will be used. Creator displays the application in which the original file was created in. After validating the information displayed, click Next to move on to the next step. The Sheet definition panel The Sheet Definition panel is where the sheet parameters will be defined. The Properties section allows entering the following information: The Width field is used to enter the width value of the press sheet. The Height field is used to enter the height value of the press sheet. The Mirror drop-down list is used to define the mirror axis of the imposition: Horizontal axis, No mirror or Vertical Axis. If the selected mirror axis is not supported with the work type selected in the first panel, a warning message will appear at the bottom of the dialog.

5 Mirror Axis The mirror axis will define the behaviour of the back sheet. When selecting Horizontal Axis, the back sheet will be flipped on a horizontal axis. The bottom of the sheet would then appear at the top of the sheet on the back. When selecting the Vertical axis, the back sheet will be flipped according to a vertical axis. The left side of the sheet would then appear at the right on the back. When No mirror is selected, no back sheet will be configured. The back will then be disabled on the light table. The Gripper section allows entering the gripper size value. When no gripper will be used in the printing process, uncheck the Gripper box to disable the use of a gripper. The Wizard will automatically set the gripper at the bottom of the sheet. Note The inpo2 Wizard does not make any distinction between the sheet size and plate size. The Page group definition panel The Page Group Definition panel presents a preview of the layout so far configured. inpo2 auto-calculates the maximum number of pages per sheet based on the parameters previously entered. The Page Group section is used to define the following parameters:

6 Rotation is used to apply a rotation angle to the page group. The preview pane will be updated to display the new page group configuration. The Folding drop menu presents a list of some compatible foldings based on the JDF folding catalogue. Compatible customized foldings, if any, will also be displayed (see section 2.4.2: Page Group Folding ) The Bleed field allows entering the bleed value that will be applied. The Gutters and Margins section allows entering the values of horizontal and vertical margins and gutters. The Mark definition panel The Mark Definition panel is divided into four tabs: Sheet and Page Marks, Register Marks, Text Marks and Density Bar. The various mark parameters used are the default parameters of the mark (see section 5.: inpo2 Marks ). In the Sheet and Page Marks tab, activate the checkboxes of the required marks. - The Page Marks section offers the option of using Trim and Bleed marks. - The Sheet Marks section offers the option of using Center marks and Side guides. The Side guide offset may be defined in the Offset field.

7 The Register Marks tab allows displaying register marks. Check the Add Register Marks box to add register marks on the layout. In the Offset section, enter the Top, Bottom, Left and Right offset values, from the sheet edge. The Text Mark tab allows adding text marks on the press sheets. Check the Add Text Marks box to activate the use of text marks. - In the Text mark position on sheet section, select from which anchor point the tag will be positioned on the sheet, and enter its Horizontal (X) and Vertical (Y) offset values.

8 - The Edit button at the lower right corner of the dialogue allows accessing the Text Mark Properties dialog, where the text mark components may be defined (see section 5.2: Text Mark ). The Density Bar tab allows defining the density bar parameters. Check the Add Density bar box to activate the use of a density bar on the layout. Choose its position from the drop menu: Bottom margin, Horizontal central gutter, Left margin, Right margin, Top margin or Vertical central gutter.

9 - Click the Edit button to edit the Density Bar Parameters (see section 5.6: Density Bar ). Select Continuous to obtain a bar that fills the entire page group. Select Trimmed to page size to add a bar that will adjust to page width without filling the gutters and margins. In both cases, and Additional Trim value may be added to trim the bar to a smaller width format. The Summary panel The Summary panel reflects most of the parameters defined for the layout. The Layout summary section displays the following information: The Binding Style The Number of sheets The Page format The Source document file name The Number of document pages The number of Document unused pages, if any. This situation would occur if for example, a source document would contain 72 pages while the layout, as per its configuration, would contain only 48 pages. The data displayed in this field would then be 24. The number of Blank pages. Blank pages would be added to the layout if, for example, the source file were to contain less pages than the layout number of pages.

10 A Creep value may also be defined, in the Creep section. Check the Creep box to activate the use of creep, and enter in the Paper Thickness field the appropriate value. The Work and Turn section allows configuring a Work and Turn or Work and Tumble booklet. Check the Work and Turn box to activate the option, and select from the drop menu the position of the work and turn booklet: Last, or Before last. Check the Export to PDF box to output the project to PDF format. It is possible to browse the previous panels and modify some parameters if the result needs to be adjusted. Once satisfied, click OK and see the entire layout on the light table. Modifications may also be applied directly on the light table.
