A podcast is a digital audio file that can be downloaded onto a computer or portable media player. Typically, they are available as part of a series that can be subscribed to.

There is a 50 GB file size limit for uploading audio to ibroadcast. ibroadcast allows you to upload audio and publish it as a podcast. Once you ve been given access, use the same URL to go straight to the ibroadcast home page. As the home page loads you may see this dialogue box. Tick Do not show this again and click Run. 3

4 ibroadcast home page When you are given access to ibroadcast, you will be put in to a group, based on your department or network. In the light blue bar at the top, next to the ibroadcast logo, choose your group from the dropdown box. In the example above, the group is Radio 4 / 4extra. You can change groups here if you belong to more than one. 4

Publishing the podcast In order to publish the audio as a podcast, it must be attached to a webpage at www.bbc.co.

5 Publishing the podcast In order to publish the audio as a podcast, it must be attached to a webpage at - here, every episode of your programme has a web page, and you also have a home page, known as a Brand or Series page. If your podcast is simply a recording of a programme, then you will attach it to the corresponding Episode page for that edition of your programme. Find the Episode page in ibroadcast. You can do this by inserting the page PID (Programme Identifier) in to the ibroadcast search box. A PID is an eight-character code which identifies the page. Every programme page has its own unique PID. The page PID appears at the end of the URL of the page, on the Programmes website, e.g. In this example the PID is b07kld9k and it is an episode of Farming Today. In the browser address field, copy the PID from the end of the URL and paste it in to the ibroadcast search box: This search will take you straight to the Episode page. 5

6 Alternatively you can find the page by clicking on the Schedules tab on the ibroadcast home page: Then select your network from the list; choose day view, and you will see today s schedule for the network: Change the date at the top of the schedule to find an Episode from another day. 6

7 Locate your programme in the schedule. The link in bold is the Episode page ( Fishermen s online fears ). The other link, which is the programme title ( Farming Today ) is the home (Brand) page: In some cases the Episode title is just the date: Click on the Episode link (in bold), and you will go to the Episode page in ibroadcast: 7

8 At the bottom of the left-hand column of the Episode page, there is a drop-down menu, Select a task. Move the mouse over it and choose Create and add podcast. You can now upload the audio file. Locate the file on your computer, and drag it in to the grey Upload an audio box. Once it s uploaded, you will be taken through 4 steps to create the podcast. 8

Click on the pre-set time value which has been agreed with the Podcast Team (e.g. 7 days International or 30 days international ).

10 Then press the pre-set time button (e.g. 7 days international ), to set the end date correctly. Click Next. 10

11 Step 3 Add warnings if required. The default is no guidance, and if that s fine, just click Next. If you need to add warnings, click on the Yes button, and tick any warnings you need to apply. Then click Next. 11

12 Step 4 The final step is to publish the podcast. On this screen you can check that everything is correct listen to the audio if it has transcoded; check which Episode the podcast is attached to; the availability period; any warnings applied. There are Edit buttons if you need to correct anything. Click the green Publish button. 12

13 In the pop-up window, agree to the compliance guidelines; click on ok. The next screen shows the publishing banner: At this point you can close ibroadcast, and leave it to go through the publishing process.
